I drove to alpha Jason’s pack with a cold expression.
I didn’t like the alpha’s plan moreover his orders. Why the hell were they merging the two packs just because they had reconciled?. I didn’t want to work under anyone else other than alpha Cole, moreover I hated the idea of sharing my job with some other bastard.
“Cobi, it will be fine.” Beca whispered next to me.
I tried asking her to stay back and wait for me in my pack but she couldn’t listen nor agree. She begged me to take her with me that I had no choice but to agree.
“I don’t like the idea of merging two packs in one just because the alphas reconciled.” I said honestly.
“Is it really that or is it because you hate alpha Jason?” She asked.
I sighed loudly then held her hand with my free one
“I don’t hate alpha Jason, it’s just that I don’t want to serve him. I vowed and pledged my loyalty to Cole, not him. And I hate the thought of sharing my work with some other bastard beta.” I spat.
“Ken is not a bastard,” Beca said seriously then pulled her hand away from mine surprising me.
“Beca why are you acting like this?” I asked softly.
“I don’t like how you are judgemental to people you haven’t even met before.” She answered.
I parked the car at the pack’s border and came out.
I was about to go around the car to open the door for her when she did it on her own.
She had a cold glare on her face and I was trying to understand why she was this upset over me calling the beta of this pack a bastard.
I quickly turned and looked ahead when I inhaled a man’s scent.
A tall man nearly my height was approaching us alone and seemed to be very happy. He had a wide smile on his face and a relieved expression.
Beca quickly ran to him and embraced him.
I stood watching the whole fucking scene in front of me.
“Beca,” He whispered while rubbing her back.
“Ken,” She answered in more of a greeting.

“Betas please stand down.” A female approaching us commanded.
Her command held power and my wolf instantly pulled back. I could tell that she was an alpha.
I remembered Cole’s story from the past when he said he had a sister.
“You have only met yet you want to choke each other.” She said loudly.
I glanced at Beca furiously and noticed how her eyes were still on the man.
“Alpha, explain to me clearly what exactly is going on between my mate and this fucking bastard.” I said angrily.
The female alpha frowned then looked at the beta with a raised brow.
“I had no idea that you were her mate. You see, Beca is like a little sister to me. She disappeared a few weeks ago and I was worried, but now that I …”
“Save it you piece of garbage. Did you not see how she run into your arms. No, can’t you fucking see the way she looks at you!. I might be dumb at times but I can tell that she has feelings for you.” I said furiously as Beca held my hand.
“No Cobi you are wrong!” She exclaimed.
“How the fuck am I wrong?. This now explains why you begged me to take you along. It’s this man you wanted to see isn’t it?” I asked on top of my voice.
“Enough okay, as much as I would like to keep quiet I can’t. This man you are referring to as garbage is my mate. And I assure you that he has no feelings for the lady beside you. He only sees her as a little sister, nothing more.” The female alpha said loudly.
I moved closer approaching her slowly. The beta was about to move when she moved her hand instantly stopping him.
Once I was in front of her I seriously looked her in the eyes.
“Swear on your mate that there was nothing going on between these two before I met her and that what they feel for each other or felt was siblings love.” I said huskily.
She instantly looked at the beta then sighed and lowered her gaze to the ground.
“As I thought,” I whispered then turned to walk to the car when Beca held my hand again.
“It’s not like that I swe….”
“Don’t touch me!” I spat cutting her off then pushed her away as she stumbled and fell to the ground.
Ken quickly rushed to her side and helped her up.
“What is wrong with you!. Beca isn’t like us, she is fragile!” He spat furiously.
“I don’t care beta and I have the right to treat my mate the way I see fit.” I answered loudly.
“I can’t believe this. Beca why are you even with this self-centered asshole!” He asked on top of his voice pissing me even more.
“Because I love him, Ken. He treats me so much better than I had been treated in all my life. Right now he is just upset and jealous, that’s why he is saying all those hurtful words to me. But I can assure you that Cobi is so sweet and nice to me. He can never hurt me intentionally too.” She answered shocking me.
Why was she saying all that now?. Wasn’t she in love with him?. Was it because he was already mated to an alpha and there was no chance for her to be with him?.
“I see,” Ken answered then looked at me seriously.
“Just be careful with Beca, I swear on my mate Rhoyda that I have never been in love with her, ever. The reason that I care so much about her is because she is human and alone. Her parents abandoned her outside our pack’s border when she was just a little girl. I had to pay a couple in our pack to raise her as their own since I had no strength to leave her out in the cold and in the dark. She grew up in my eyes and I took care of her as an elder brother would.” He said seriously.
Beca looked at him in horror as tears rolled on her cheeks.
“You are lying.” She whispered.
“I’m sorry Beca, I am not. That’s why you can’t shift, because you don’t have a wolf. You aren’t one of us.” He answered.
He was about to touch her when she stepped back.
She quickly turned and ran into my hands sobbing loudly.
I stood still for a second then wrapped my arms around her.
I could clearly feel her pain. His revelation was too much for her to handle.
“Ken come with me. We need to talk.” The female alpha said seriously then looked at me.
“As for you, please follow us back to the pack house. We will talk to you soon.” She said as I nodded and lifted Beca in my arms.
