“Move it a little to the left.” Ms Benedict said loudly to Jason who was trying to put the clock straight on the wall.
Cole sat reading a newspaper but his eyes were frequently on me. As for my mother, she was staring at me with a shocked expression.
Two days ago when we met, she was very happy and excited. She told me how she had a lot to tell me and how she had missed me so much. But all that turned into shock when Ms Benedict told her the truth about their kind and shifted in front of her eyes the next day.
My mother couldn’t easily process it all. At first, She couldn’t say a word nor do a thing. Then in the evening, she began accepting it, but then Ms Benedict told her about mates and how I was mated to both the twins. That was a huge blow to her mind and she went completely in shock and denial. She couldn’t sleep much nor eat.
And here she was staring at me like I had just resurrected from the dead.
“Mother do you have something to say to me?” I asked in a whisper.
“Yes, whose child are you carrying.” She asked in a whisper as everyone looked at us.
Damn it, they all had sharp hearing!.
“Um….” I hesitated and swallowed hard.
“It’s Cole’s child,” I answered in a tiny voice.
“What?. How is that even possible,
?. You left with Jason. I gave you to Jason and now you are carrying his brother’s child?” She asked a little loudly.
“I know mother that it’s all shocking and complicated. But I promise you that you will understand everything with time.” I whispered.
“No, I won’t. Werewolves are myths, I don’t know what I saw yesterday, but I think I was hallucinating.” She answered.
Cole cleared his throat getting our attention.
“Grace if you don’t mind, I can shift for you to see again.” He said calmly.
“No, you stay out of this.” I warned.
“No thank you, Cole. I know what I saw is real, it’s just that I am in denial. I just can’t easily accept that you three aren’t human. Like what will my grandchild even look like?” She asked loudly.
“Like human Grace. Every pup, should I say baby does look human, until their first shift, Which takes years. Some have it at sixteen years old while some at eighteen.” Ms Benedict answered.
Mother sighed loudly the stood up.
“I need a cold drink, does anyone want one?” She asked loudly.
“Yes please, I would like one.” Jason answered.
“Cole?” She asked.
“No, I’m fine thanks.” He answered then went back to his newspaper.
“Sweetheart, do you want anything?” She asked.
I smirked knowing exactly what to say.
“Yes, a cold beer would do.” I answered as the twins both looked at me seriously.
“What?” Mother asked loudly.
“I need a beer mother.” I answered.
“No, she doesn’t.” Cole said seriously.
“We totally agree on that brother.” Jason said then moved and sat down opposite, facing me.
“Why shouldn’t I drink what I want?” I asked seriously.
“Because you are pregnant dear.” Mother answered.
“It’s my body, to begin with.” I pointed out loudly.
“Fine, Jason go get her a beer.” Cole said seriously.
“Sure,” Jason answered then walked out.
“Did he seriously go out to get a beer?” Mother asked in shock.
I stood up without a word and went out of the living room.
As I took the stairs I could hear light footsteps following me.
I got in my bedroom and I was about to shut the door when a knock came through.
I sighed loudly then opened the door.
“What,” I asked coldly.
“Can I give you a massage?” Cole asked shocking me.
“Why?” I asked back.
“Because I want to and you look tense.” He answered.
“And whose fault is that?” I fired.
“Ours, that’s why we want to take responsibility.” He answered.
I was about to tell him to fuck off when he touched my hand and the tingles erupted.
I stayed still, took in a deep breath, and released it.
Gosh, I missed his hand on my body. I was very upset with him yet my body was in need of his touch
“Cole, don’t push your luck with me. I might not kick you out of this house but that doesn’t mean I want you near me.” I spat seriously.
He dropped his hand sadly then cleared his throat.
“Please talk to Jason, even if it’s just a few minutes. Let him touch you or hug you just for a second.” He said pissing me off.
“What the hell is wrong with your mind you Jerk. I told him we were done and I meant it.” I spat.
“Our kind are stronger than you humans, we live and survive for a very long time. When we meet our mate, our other half and soul mate, everything changes. We protect and love them unconditionally. But when our mates reject us and choose to break our bond, our wolves die, and soon after we follow. If we do survive the rejection, we go rogue. You know, losing our reason completely and living like a vicious animal without a pack to call home. What keeps us sane is hope and love of our mate. Having our mate by our side even if she wants us dead means a lot. As long as she is next to us that’s all that matters. I took you away from Jason for a very long time, his wolf was already losing his mind. Then I dragged him with a substance that almost killed him, but he survived because he had hope of you being with him again. But then you rejected him and told him how you didn’t want him. That was a huge blow to his alpha self.” He said sadly then took a step back.
“An alpha doesn’t cry nor beg for anyone. Us doing all this should mean something to you. We were even willing to leave our packs and people unguarded and without a leader just to have your forgiveness. Look, am not asking you to take us back just like that. I am asking you to give us a chance to redeem ourselves. Let Jason explain his past to you and you in return decide on either being with us or not.” He said as I swallowed hard and blinked the tears away.
“I got your beer,” Jason said before I could respond.
He came upstairs and stood beside me.
When he handed me the bottle I glared at him.
“This is none alcoholic.” I pointed out.
“I know, but it’s still a beer isn’t it?” He asked back as I chuckled softly.
I moved closer and wrapped my arms around his waist.
He tensed for a second then embraced me back.
“Thank you.” He whispered.
I pulled away and stepped back.
“Fine, I will let you explain everything to me. Then after that, I will decide whether to go back with you guys or not.” I answered as they nodded.
