“Hey,” I greeted softly when I peeped into my bedroom. Beca sat on the bed hugging her knees.
“Hey,” She whispered back softly.
I walked in and closed the door behind me.
“What’s wrong?” I asked when I moved closer and sat next to her.
“Does my mark still hurt?” I asked softly when I touched the side of her neck gently.
“No, it doesn’t.” She answered as I moved my hand to her cheek.
She slowly leaned in and closed her eyes.
“It’s beautiful.” She whispered with a smile.
“What is?” I asked when I smiled back.
“The beautiful tingles.” She answered.
“Wait, you feel them?” I asked loudly.
“Yes, I do.” She answered then opened her eyes and faced me.
“I also love your musky scent, it’s pure heaven.” She whispered as I smirked.
Was she trying to tempt me?. Because if she was, then it was working.
“Are you seducing me?” I asked huskily while I leaned in.
She chuckled softly then leaned in as well to close the space between us.
“Is it working?” She asked sexily.
“Hell yeah,” I answered then pressed my lips on hers.
I was about to deepen the kiss when my desk phone rang.
I pulled back and cursed under my breath then stood up lazily.
I went to the next room which was my office and picked up the phone on the desk.
“Hello,” I answered.
“Cobi it’s me.” Alpha Cole’s voice came through.
“Alpha,” I called with respect.
“How are things that side?” He asked in concern.
“Things are running smoothly and everything is in order. I shut down the gossip and warned everyone to keep their mouth shut if they didn’t want to lose an ear or eye.” I answered.
I was expecting him to say something but he kept quiet. The only thing I could hear was a low sigh.
“Alpha what’s wrong?” I asked in concern.
“My friend, this time I screwed up badly and my luck is hanging by a thread.” He answered shocking me.
When was the last time that the alpha had called me that “My friend”. It was ages ago and he only did that in his weakest moment. Hearing him say that showed how sad and vulnerable he felt.
“Cole, talk to me.” I said softly.
“Jason and I reached safely in her country. We also met her mother and her friend who turned out to be one of us. They welcomed us well and gave us separate rooms. The very next day Emily reached the house. Can you guess how she treated us?” He asked loudly as I kept quiet not knowing what to say.
“Cobi she hates us a lot. Like a fucking lot. She said I made her feel nauseous while Jason and her were done. She even went on to slap me and throw a folk at Jason.” He said as I raised a brow in shock.
“She did what?” I asked loudly.
“I’m telling you. I was very pissed but chose to hold myself back because I was at fault.” He answered.
“You did well Cole,” I whispered.
“Also remember, you need to lower yourself no matter what. Emily is human and different from us. If you want her forgiveness you have to lose the alpha in you and completely act human.” I said seriously.
“I don’t think she will ever forgive us man, this time there is no way out. I had faith before she came, but now that she’s here I see no way out. She doesn’t look at us nor talk to us. The only time she answers back is when we piss her off with our words.” He answered.
“Cole, she will forgive you no matter what. You not only share an unborn pup but a strong bond. No matter how much she tries to keep away it won’t work. The only way to suffer the ties that bind you together is when she rejects you. But if she’s doesn’t, then everything will be fine.” I said honestly.
“I’m dying, really dying to hold her in my arms. I got so used to inhaling her amazing scent and feeling her warmth. Now all I do is sleep with my thoughts and wake up with them.” He said sadly.
“Well, Cole you aren’t the only one going through a hard time. Think about Jason. He too might be losing his mind. Actually worse than you because you took her away from him for a very long time. His wolf is obviously trying his best to keep them both sane.” I answered then sighed softly.
“You won’t be coming back any time soon isn’t it?” I asked softly.
“No Cobi I won’t. We will stay with her for as long as she stays there, that’s one of the reasons I called you. If there is someone I trust with all my heart to run my pack and look after my people is you. Take care of them until my return.” He answered as I smiled.
“No problem, I will do just that alpha. And I suggest you calm down and think of a way to work everything out. I have hope that she will forgive you.” I said softly.
“Thank you and….. see you when all this settles down.” He answered then disconnected the call before I could respond.
I put down the phone with a low sigh.
It was very hard on both of them. But Emily too was going through a very hard time. All this time she was kept in the dark and lied to. The fact that she wasn’t kicking them out of the house where she was, was proof enough that she still felt something for the both of them.
“Are you okay?” Beca asked when she stood at the entrance and leaned against the frame.
“Come here,” I whispered as I extended my hands towards her.
She moved closer and wrapped her arms around my waist as I held her back.
“Promise me that no matter what I do we will talk it through before you leave or shut me out.” I said softly.
She slightly pulled back and looked me in the eyes seriously.
“No, I’m never leaving you no matter what.” She answered as I smiled and kissed her head gently.
She was an angel.
