“What?” Cole asked as he drove to Ms. Benedict’s place.
“I am tired of sitting. In the plane, I sat for hours and now in the car.” I answered honestly as I shifted a bit to sit comfortably.
“Well, you are still injured and sore. But luckily your face looks better.” He answered as I smiled.
It was nice talking to him normally. I never thought a day like this would happen or ever come in my life. It felt like we were back to those days when we were young.
“What now?” He asked as I frowned.
“Nothing.” I answered.
“Then stop looking at me with such a creepy smile.” He said surprising me.
I had no idea I was smiling and looking at him at the same time
“Sorry,” I answered softly then looked outside the window.
“Are you still in a lot of pain?” He asked in nearly a whisper.
“Not really. The pain is lesser than it was at your pack yesterday.” I answered.
“Good.” He answered then focused on the road.
I didn’t want to get him upset, but I also didn’t want us to fight over anything. I needed to know how he felt about us having the same woman in our lives.
“So… what will happen if we find her?” I asked him softly.
“Well, we will try and win her back.” He answered.
I turned and faced him with a frown.
“As in go back with her to our country?” I asked just to be sure.
“Of course, we can’t have her stay here by herself.” He answered.
“She has Ms. Benedict and Grace her mother.” I pointed out.
“Yes Jason, you have said that a thousand times, but we can’t let her be without us. Or should I say we can’t stay for long without her by our side.” He answered.
“I didn’t say that a thousand times. Even if I did, it’s the truth, she has Ms Benedict and Grace.” I whispered then looked ahead.
His loud laughter startled me. It had been so long since I heard him laugh.
“Are you sulking little brother?” He asked between laughter.
“I’m not little Cole, you are older by a few minutes.” I answered.
“You are still so little.” He teased as I smiled widely.
“You are still an ass as well.” I whispered.
“And you sulking.” He mocked.
“Whatever. But I’m not sulking.” I answered while laughing softly.
“Don’t worry, I have faith in the both of us. We will win her back and talk everything through.” He said.
I looked at him seriously as tears filled my eyes.
This was the brother I loved and looked up to. The Cole that was selfless, caring, and kind.
In the past, we were blinded by negative feelings that we forgot how it felt to chat and laugh as a family.
“I hope you aren’t getting emotional right now.” He whispered.
I took in a deep breath and released it.
“Nope, I’m not.” I answered as I blinked back the tears.
“Okay.” He said with a chuckle.
“Did you notice the murderous look our little sister was giving me at the mall?” He asked as I smirked.
“I did, she looked very furious with you and not so shocked to see you.” I answered.
“That’s because I went to pay her a visit at the pack.” He said surprising me.
“You did?” I asked loudly.
“Yes. I wanted to hear the whole truth about our parents’ mistreatment towards you.” He answered.
“Oh,” I whispered under my breath.
“I know that she witnessed you stabbing me. She also sounded very angry with me for not noticing your past pain. But she got super pissed when I messed with the beta.” He said.
“Ken?” I asked.
“Yes. I threatened the beta to get the whole story out of her. I guess that’s why she still doesn’t want to talk to me.” He answered as I chuckled.
“She’s very protective when it comes to her mate. Stubborn as hell too. She says that she feels nothing for him yet she is more than ready to die in his place.” I said softly.
“Well, I can relate.” He answered.
“Oh Cole, park right outside that pink house ahead.” I said.
“Alright.” He answered then made a turn and parked outside the pink house next to Ms Benedict’s house.
“Okay, so now that we are here, I’ll update you on a few things quickly.” I said.
He turned and faced me seriously.
“First of all, Ms Benedict isn’t human, she’s like us and a part of our pack. Secondly, Emily’s mother is very hard to please or talk to. She’s quite stubborn like her daughter, if we do tell her the whole truth about what happened, she won’t hesitate to kick us out or call the cops on us. Since she doesn’t know what we truly are, I suggest we talk to Teresa, Ms Benedict in private. She will understand us completely and find a way to explain what we truly are to Grace.” I said.
“Okay, anything else?” He asked.
“Teresa thinks you are dead, so she will be in shock to meet you. Also … I used to own a house on the hill.” I answered.
He laughed softly then opened the door.
“Don’t be nervous Jason, you aren’t alone.” He said then came out.
“Fuck.”
Why was I see-through when it came to him.
I opened the door and came out as well. I shut the door behind me and walked in front to meet Cole where he was standing.
“Shall we?” He asked.
“Yes,” I answered then walked to the front door with him beside me.
I was about to knock when the door opened and Teresa looked at me with a wide smile
“Alpha.” She greeted then looked at Cole as her smile faded.
“Where is Grace?” I asked in a whisper.
“She went out to get some groceries.” She answered then lifted a finger and pointed at Cole.
“Forgive me alpha, but who is he?” She asked.
“Cole my brother.” I answered as she widened her eyes in shock.
“Wait, he’s alive?” She asked in a scream.
“Ms Benedict, please let us in if you don’t mind. We will explain everything to you.” I answered.
“Of course alpha.” She said then opened the door wide.
“Thanks,” I answered then walked in with Cole.
