Jason’s p. o. v
“Vincent,” I whispered with my gaze lowered to the ground.
He huffed but couldn’t respond. I smiled knowing that he was a bit better.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered for the tenth time.
I looked up when I heard light footsteps approaching.
Cole walked in and stood looking at me angrily.
“Why didn’t you leave?” He asked calmly.
“I had no reason to.” I answered honestly.
He took on a deep breath then released it.
“You are free to go.” He said surprising me.
“What?” I asked in disbelief.
“I said you are free to leave.” He answered.
I slowly got to my feet and stood up.
“I’m sorry but I don’t understand.” I said honestly.
“Jason, what else do you want me to say?” He asked seriously.
“I’m telling you to go away from here. You are free to go back to your pack and live your life. I won’t bother you in any way or want you dead nor threaten you. You go your own way and I’ll live my life as I did before.” He said then turned to walk away but stopped.
“Oh, and it’s not a trap. My men are well informed about this, so do walk freely.” He said then walked out before I could answer.
I was in shock over his sudden decision and change of heart. But then again if he wanted me dead he couldn’t have saved me at all.
I walked out of the cell while carefully looking around.
“Why would he let me go?. Did Emily talk to him?” I asked myself when I came out of the dungeon.
Emily!. No. I wasn’t going anywhere without her. She too was my mate.
I needed to talk to him and figure out our way forward with her.
I walked from the woods to the pack house for what seemed like an hour. My body was still badly aching and my feet were sore.
As I approached the pack house I could hear loud murmurs and low whimpers.
“Forgive me alpha, please. I had no idea that she wasn’t suppose to leave the pack.” A man’s voice came from ahead.
And I moved closer, I could see a large crowd of men and women standing from afar watching Cole who was punching a bleeding guy in front of him.
The man’s left eye was completely closed and bruised, he was stumbling a lot and losing his balance
Cole moved at a quick pace and grabbed him by the neck lifting him off the ground as the man struggled to breathe.
Beca was holding on to the door frame of the pack’s entrance with tears threatening to fall.
He was going to kill the man. I didn’t want to interfere but I also couldn’t stand by and watch everything happen.
“Cole, let him go.” I said as loud gasps and whispers broke out.
“Look at him, he looks like our alpha.” One said a little too loud.
“Stay out of it Jason.” He growled loudly.
I moved to where he was and grabbed his hand.
“Brother please,” I whispered as he sighed loudly and dropped his hand.
The man fell to the ground with a low whimper.
“Pray to the goddess that Cobi finds her in town. Because if he won’t find her there, you won’t have your head by tomorrow.” He spat then turned and walked in the pack house.
I went to Beca who had her eyes lowered to the ground in fear of Cole.
I stood in front of her ignoring the people’s words and questions.
“Beca what’s going on?” I asked softly.
“Emily ran away.” She answered seriously.
“What do you mean ran away?” I asked.
“Alpha Cole found the bedroom empty and so he went outside to search for her. A few of the warriors pointed out that they had seen her talking to Dwayne that warrior you are from saving. Cole mind linked him and asked him where our luna was, the man said she was in the mall, but after a few minutes of searching for her, the warrior couldn’t find her. That’s when the Alpha sent Cobi with a few other warriors to go to town. Cobi was to remain there and find her no matter what, while the warriors were to bring Dwayne back without fail. In just half an hour Dwayne was brought back here, but he couldn’t tell the alpha where our luna was. It’s like she ran away.” She answered.
I quickly walked past her and went upstairs while calling out Cole’s name.
“Cole!”
A few seconds went by without his response and then I heard a loud sound of wood breaking.
I rushed ahead and went into a certain bedroom.
Cole stood next to a broken bedside table.
“Fuck!” He spat then kicked it in anger.
“Cole,” I called softly.
“What!” He screamed when he turned to face me. His eyes were a shade of red.
“It will be fine I promise. We will find her.” I whispered.
“She has got the money that was in there. That money was enough to get her out of this country!. And here you are telling me it will be fine!” He spat on top of his voice.
I looked at the desk on my right and noticed the desk phone there.
I moved and grabbed the phone.
“What are you doing?” He asked seriously as I dialed Rhoyda’s line.
“Hello.” She answered.
“It’s me,” I said softly.
“Jason?” She asked loudly.
“Yes. I have no time to talk. Listen very carefully. Bring me my passport and some clothes now. You will find me in town, just right outside the mall….” I trailed off then turned and looked at Cole
“With Cole,” I answered then put the phone down.
“What the hell are you planning Jason?” He asked loudly.
“You don’t know Emily like I do. And not that I’m bragging. Our lady loves her mother more than anything in the world. Right now she is hurt, afraid, and tired. That means she’s got only one place to turn to and that’s where her mother is. You can come with me now to get her back, or you can remain here and search for her in this country for as long as you can.” I answered seriously
He sighed then folded his arms.
“I’ll call for my Dr to give you something to get you moving. After that, you take a bath and dress up. I’ll drive us in town as well as the airport.” He answered surprising me.
Finally, we were agreeing on something without exchanging bad words.
