“You didn’t say goodbye to them, why?” Emily asked as I drove to my pack
The whole plane ride, we were both silent. And our drive back to the pack was nearly the same.
Emily had nothing to say to me, I too had nothing to say to her.
“Well I wanted to, but they were busy mating with their mate. It would have taken time for them to come out.” I answered lazily.
“But they are like your brothers, we could have just waited for them. A day wouldn’t kill.” She pointed out the obvious.
“I know my love, but I didn’t want to spend another day at their pack. I have my reasons.” I answered honestly.
She sighed then turned and faced the window.
“Emily I’m sorry, I know that I’m being a jerk right now.” I whispered softly as I made a turn and drove towards the packs border.
“I wanted to say goodbye to Mia. She was so kind and sweet to me.” She whispered.
I moved my hand and linked it to hers.
“How about I invite them over to visit us soon?” I asked while I drove with one hand.
“Really?” She asked cheerfully when she turned and faced me.
“Of course, I will apologize to them then invite them here, I’m sure they will be happy to visit.” I answered.
“Thank you, Cole.” She whispered then frowned.
“What, what’s wrong?” I asked in concern.
“I’m fine.” She answered then leaned against the chair.
“My love don’t be like that.” I whispered with a sigh when the pack house came in view.
“It’s just that, since yesterday I haven’t been feeling well.” She answered.
“Is that so?” I asked as I moved my hand from hers to her forehead to feel her body temperature.
“You don’t have a fever.” I whispered while I drove into the compound.
“I’ll be fine.” She answered softly with a low sigh.
I was making her sad and Ace hated that. He too was torn between murdering Jason and making our mate happy.
He didn’t want to keep her in the dark but yet he couldn’t allow me to tell her the truth. We felt and wanted the same thing, that was our mate by our side.
I packed the car opposite the Packs entrance and turned to face her.
“Hey,” I whispered.
She turned and faced me with a low sigh.
“Should I ask Cobi to get you ice cream, perhaps chocolate?” I asked softly.
“Can he do that?” She asked surprising me.
“His my beta, that means my every order and your every command should be taken seriously. So ice cream?” I asked with a raised brow.
“Yes, I would love that.” She answered.
She was about to shift back and touch the door when I grabbed her hand instantly stopping her.
“Don’t open the door, I’ll do that for you.” I whispered then let go of her hand and got out of the car.
A lot of my warriors and a few of my pack women were watching us from afar. Cobi stood at the packs entrance watching us as well.
I walked around the car and opened the door for her.
“Thank you.” She whispered then got off.
“It’s nothing. I love doing this for you.” I answered then shut the door behind me.
I grabbed her hand and linked it to mine.
“Home sweet home.” I whispered silently in my head then walked with her to the entrance.
Cobi quickly bowed slightly then stepped out of the way.
“Alpha, Luna welcome back.” He said in a respective tone.
“Thank you.” Emily answered.
“Thanks Cobi.” I answered through our mind link with a smile.
“Get ice cream, all the nice flavors you can find also chocolate for my mate.” I said.
“Right away alpha.” He answered then quickly walked ahead to where his car was parked.
“Why,” Emily whispered.
“Why what?” I asked feeling confused.
“Why did you not answer to his welcoming greeting?” She asked seriously.
“I did.” I answered honestly.
“When?. Because I heard nothing.” She spat loudly.
“Honey calm down. Believe me when I say that I didn’t ignore him, I actually answered him.” I said seriously.
“Gosh.” She spat then walked past me.
I stood silently for a few minutes confused over what I had done to provoke her then rushed after her.
“Emily,” I called as I went upstairs to our bedroom.
She was moving back and forth with an angry expression on her face.
“Why won’t you let me talk to Jason?” She asked pissing me off.
Was she asking about that damn bastard!.
“Why do you want to talk to him now?” I asked between greeted teeth.
“Because he is my mate as well and I miss him a l…”
She gasped loudly when I moved in a second and grabbed her hand tightly.
“Never, ever say such bullshit in front of my face Emily because I wouldn’t like to hurt you.” I spat furiously
She tensed and widened her eyes.
“Cole you are hurting me.” She whispered.
“Am I clear!” I growled loudly.
“Yes.” She answered in a cracked voice as tears filled her eyes.
“Let her go, you are hurting her.” Ace warned.
I dropped my hand with a loud sigh.
Fuck!. What was I doing, it wasn’t my intention to hurt her.
“Honey I’m sorry.” I whispered as I tried to hold her hand. She took a step back and sniffed.
“It’s okay.” She answered then moved to the bed and sat down.
“It’s not okay.” I said while I moved too and sat beside her.
She turned giving me her back then kept quiet.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you, it’s just that when you asked about Jason I felt scared and thought that you didn’t want me anymore.” I whispered.
“I do want and love you. But I miss Jason.” She answered in a cracked voice.
I clenched my hands in fists then took in a deep breath and released it.
I wasn’t going to hurt my mate again no matter how upsetting her words were.
I leaned in and wrapped my arms around her waist while resting my head on her shoulder.
“I know baby, but just give me…..”
I cut my words short when I picked up a different scent on her.
I buried my nose in her neck and inhaled deeply with a frown.
“What are you doing?” She asked softly.
“Ace, are you picking up this scent?” I asked in shock.
“Yes.” He answered in a loud tone.
It was still her beautiful amazing scent, but it was mixed with another scent.
I quickly stood up and grabbed her hand forcing her on her feet.
“Cole what are you doing?” She asked seriously.
“Taking you to the pack’s clinic.” I answered.
“Why, I told you I’m okay.” She said.
I ignored her and walked with her to the door.
“I know, I just want to confirm something.” I said then walked out of the room.
