Emily’s p. o. v
I was afraid for some reason, very afraid.
When Mia asked me to get into the pack house and close the door, I knew there and then something bad was about to happen.
I quickly did as she had asked and rushed into the pack house, straight to the twin’s office.
I had no idea why I chose that room, but for some reason, I felt much safer there.
I sat on the small chair which was at the corner impatiently waiting for something to happen.
My heart was rapidly beating and my throat was dry.
What seemed like a lot of hours went by but nothing was happening.
I was about to stand up and go out of the office when the door handle moved.
I quickly rushed behind the desk and knelt down, hoping it would be enough to cover or hide me.
“Emily,” Mia’s voice came through.
I quickly stood upright and looked at her.
She stood at the entrance with a bleeding shoulder.
“Omg, you are injured.” I whispered in shock then took a step forward.
“She will be fine.” Cole’s voice came from behind.
Mia walked in and sat on the couch.
The twins soon followed looking all dressed up and nice. They sat next to her on each of her sides.
“Cole.” I whispered softly.
He was in black jeans and a grey shirt and his hair was wet. He looked like he was from taking a quick bath.
He glanced at me for a second then averted his eyes and moved to the window which was opposite the desk.
He didn’t have to say a word because I felt it. I didn’t know how, but I could feel his every emotion.
He was upset with me. Angry with the twins and very sad over something.
I didn’t want him to feel any worse than he was already feeling, so I moved to the corner quietly and sat down.
“Does it still hurt?” Brandon asked in a whisper when he traced his fingers on the healing wound on Mia’s shoulder.
“N….”
“Of course it does.” Landon answered cutting her off.
“We are so sorry for leaving you like that. We could have given you a heads-up up with what we were about to do.” Brandon whispered then leaned in and kissed her forehead lightly.
I took in a deep breath and blinked the forming tears back.
I was watching a scene that I wanted to hear from Cole.
“Seriously, it is Just an injury on the shoulder. Not the throat and definitely not a rejection.” Cole spat coldly.
Brandon glared at him coldly then sighed loudly.
“What’s your problem?” He asked seriously.
“You two are. You guys sustained injuries as well. But it seems like you didn’t even realize. When we came here you quickly rushed to Mia and dragged her in your damn office to check on her injury when she’s a Werewolf, she can heal easily. And what’s with your sitting style.” Cole asked on top of his voice.
I bite my lower lip refusing to react in any way.
I couldn’t understand why he was this upset with the twins and angry with me.
“Something isn’t okay with you Cole. You have been a total jerk to your mate and us, instead of you worrying about your shaken mate who is sitting all alone looking scared in the corner, you are worrying about us. What the hell!” Brandon exclaimed.
I looked at Cole sadly who quickly turned and faced me.
“My love, I am sorry if I did something to upset you.” I said silently hoping he would hear my words.
He walked to me and lifted me up in bridal style without warning.
“Cole, it’s okay, I can walk.” I said in a cracked voice then sniffed to keep my tears from falling.
“Stay still.” He commanded then walked out of the office.
I stayed still as he had commanded while he went upstairs to our given room.
He walked in and went to the bed to sit down.
I was about to move from his lap when he caged me with his arms.
“Let go.” I whispered as tears rolled on my cheeks.
“Emil…”
“No!” I yelled cutting him off while struggling to be set free.
“Emily please.” He whispered in a pained voice.
“No Cole, you don’t get to treat me like this, you don’t.” I cried out.
“Em….”
“Let go, now!” I sobbed while hitting his arms but he couldn’t barge.
“Baby I am sorry.” He whispered in my head.
“No, you are n.. ot.” I answered in a cracked voice.
“I am sorry Emily, please.” He said softly then rested his head on my back as I sobbed.
His recent actions towards me were painful.
He left without a word and got me worried. Ever since I told him that I knew who he really was he couldn’t look me in the eyes nor talk to me.
He was treating me like a stranger when I was his mate. His lover.
Rhoyda clearly explained to me how Werewolves treated their mates. How they loved and respected them. She made it sound so heavenly and magical that I completely believed in her.
But now seeing the treatment I was getting from him. I was beginning to doubt her every word.
“You are treating me like I’m some worthless girl when I’m your mate, is it because I told you who you really were?” I asked sadly.
“I’m sorry okay. I know that I have been treating you coldly but I didn’t mean to I swear. It’s just that…. just that…..” He trailed off.
“Just that what?” I asked loudly.
“Even if I do explain you wouldn’t understand.” He said coldly then dropped his hands and sat upright.
I was shocked over his actions, was he telling me to go away after holding back and asking for my forgiveness.
“Are you now telling me to fuck off?” I asked in disbelief while I stood up and faced him.
His gaze was fixed at the ground and he was silent.
“Baby I’m not perfect in any way and by now you know that. Through our mark, you are suppose to know how I feel.” He answered in my head.
“Yes I know that you are angry at me and the twins, I can feel it.” I answered while lifting my hands dramatically.
“Is that all you can feel?” He asked softly as he looked me in the eyes with forming tears.
I swallowed hard as I felt the other different emotions. It wasn’t only anger that he was feeling. He was feeling sad, hurt, and confused.
“You are hurt, sad and confused.” I whispered under my breath then moved and knelt in front of him grabbing both of his hands in mine.
“What I don’t know is why. Am I the cause of those feelings?” I asked in concern.
“No, Jason is.” He answered furiously then stood up and walked away from me.
“Jason?. What did he do?” I asked loudly trying to understand his words clearly.
“My love, can you please give me some time to think and be okay with my emotions before I open up to you?” He asked surprising me.
I stood up, wiped off my tears, and nodded.
“Of course,” I answered then went to him.
“Cole it’s okay to feel like this.” I whispered when I got in front of him.
“No, it’s not. Ever since I could remember, I had taught myself to never feel such weak and vulnerable feelings. Anger is an exception, not sadness and hurt. An Alpha should always be strong and never show weakness. I have never felt like this in such a very long time.” He said loudly.
I lifted my hand and caressed his cheek gently.
This man in front of me was different from the Jason I knew back then. This side of him I had never seen before.
“Honey, it’s okay to feel those emotions, It actually makes you alive. To be honest, I felt lonely and left out when you acted cold towards me, but that aside. I love you a lot Cole. I’m crazily in love with you. That’s why I won’t pressure you to tell me anything that you are not ready to. I will wait for you to be okay and let me in on your own.” I said honestly then tiptoed and kissed his lips gently.
He kissed me back then pulled back before he could deepen the kiss.
“I don’t know what I did to ever deserve you.” He whispered.
“You loved me and held my hand when I was sad, alone, and scared.” I answered.
He pulled me in his embrace and held me tight.
“You belong to me alone because you are my light, you make me a better man and Alpha.” He said as I chuckled softly.
“I love you too Alpha.” I answered playfully and meant every word of it.
