Landon’s p. o. v
I walked into the office with a low sigh and went around the desk in front of me.
I opened the first right drawer and picked up a file.
“Let’s see where you are,” I muttered to myself while I sat down and carefully read through.
He was way out of our territory and country running his own pack. It came as no surprise seeing how strong he was. Cole was a born leader stripped away from his own pack by his own bastard brother.
I looked at his cell phone number and smirked.
“A call wouldn’t kill, would it?” I whispered then picked up the landline phone on the desk and dialed the number.
I waited patiently as it rang.
“Who’s this.” His voice came through seriously.
Unlike then in the past, his voice sounded a bit different. It was filled with a command. He really was now acting like an alpha.
“You tell me?” I asked back.
“I don’t think I have time for such nonsense games.” He answered surprising me.
How the fuck Could he not tell it was me when he could clearly hear my freaking voice.
Was it because a few years had gone by or was he just acting dumb so he could ignore me.
“Is that what you can say asshole after years of not talking to me?” I asked.
In just a second the line went dead.
“Hello!. Cole!.” I called loudly then moved the phone from my ear.
“He cut the line. Cole cut the line.” I whispered in disbelief.
I was about to put the phone down when it rang.
I slowly put it against my hear.
“Landon,” He called In what sounded a surprise.
“How dare you cut the call.” I spat furiously.
“It really is you. Where the fuck did you get my cellphone number from?” He asked curiously.
Fuck this bastard, after all these years, the first question he got to ask was about his number.
“That’s not important right now, because I called you for another reason.” I said honestly.
“If it’s getting rid of another pack I won’t do it.” He answered surprising me.
How the hell did he know without me saying a damn word. He knew me a little too well.
“What the fuck!. Those were the golden old times, repeating them would be a blast.” I said as he sighed loudly.
“No, I’m not doing that shit anymore. I have my reasons and I hope you stop doing such shit as well.” He answered.
I was in shock and caught off guard. Where the fuck was the warrior in him?. The alpha that was thirsty for vengeance and blood baths?. Did he turn soft over the years?.
“Wait… don’t tell me you have gotten soft over the years.” I said sarcastically.
“I didn’t become soft at all, there is just someone I want to protect more than anyone in the world.” He answered.
He definitely hated his brother and his sister was out of the question because according to him, she was more closer to his twin brother Jason than him.
“Who?” I asked curiously.
“My mate,” He answered.
What!. Cole was mated!. Damn, shit had gone down within a few years we were apart. But we too here were mated and happy.
“Well, that makes the two of us.” I answered in a low tone.
“Are you mated as well?” He asked loudly.
He was in shock as I was. Who would have thought that the most feared alphas could settle down because of a woman? It was funny how one got to change for love. But what gave us pride was knowing what she truly was. A golden she-wolf.
“Yes, to the most powerful werewolf breed.” I answered with pride.
“You mean she’s an alpha?” He asked seriously.
“No, a breed way stronger than an alpha.” I answered.
“And that is..?” He asked.
“A golden wolf.” I answered calmly.
“What the fuck is a golden wolf.” He asked loudly as I sighed.
Was I suppose to go through everything those old grandpa’s had said?. It was impossible.
“A golden wolf is a wolf with an ability to control minds. To be specific, all minds. Supernatural beings, human or fantasy creature/shifter.” I answered.
“Are you messing with me?”
He asked Seriously.
“Do you think I can joke over such a thing?” I asked back.
“Fine, if what you say is really true then you must know what I’m thinking as of now.” He answered.
I knew what he was thinking because we at times thought alike. Mia’s ability was a threat to most of our kind and other supernatural beings as well. If the hunters or any high-ranked supernatural being were to find out about her powers, they would wedge war in fear of how her powers would end us all.
“No one will do anything to her. Brandon and I are more than ready to lay down our lives for her because she’s all that matters to us. We really love her a lot.” I answered honestly.
He kept quiet for a second then sighed softly.
“Fine, how about I visit your pack in the next few coming days. We need to sit down and talk. Also don’t you think it’s about time your pack formed an alliance with mine?” He asked.
His idea was amazing. But then, how were we suppose to form an alliance with someone who was way far away.
“We sure do have to sit down and talk because we merged our pack with one of the conquered ones.” I answered.
“What?. Why?. Didn’t you kill every survivor of any pack you ambushed?. I thought the rule was to kill and claim their valuables. It was never about the lands.” He pointed out.
“I know that, but then we met her, our mate, and everything changed. We decided to settle down in her pack and merged it with ours.” I answered then sighed loudly.
“And I should admit that it was a great idea because we don’t regret anyth……” I trailed off.
We didn’t regret merging the two packs, but we did regret taking the most precious thing from Mia, and that was her father.
“You do have a regret don’t you?” He asked.
“We can’t talk on the phone, I’ll send you the location where my pack is. I hope you enjoy flying.” I answered with a smirk.
“Whatever, just do it. And do punch your asshole brother for me.” He whispered then disconnected the call before I could respond.
He really was still a cold asshole huh?. It felt good to know that he still had his touch like Brandon and I still did.
