Landon’s p. o. v
I turned slowly while moving my hand on the side of the bed to touch Mia. When I couldn’t, I quickly opened my eyes and sat upright.
“Mia,” I whispered in fear.
How the hell did I sleep and lower my guard down. Where was she?. What if something bad had happened to her while I was asleep.
“Relax,” Zane whispered.
“How can you tell me that when our mate is miss….”
“She’s with Brandon.” He answered calmly.
I took in a deep breath of relief and released it.
“Okay,” I answered then groaned softly when I sat upright and stood up.
The pain was completely gone, but I still felt very exhausted for some reason.
“We need to get the hell out of this place. I hate the scent of medicine a lot.” I whispered to Zane silently while I walked out of the ward and went into Brandon’s.
I walked in and found him still on his bed, but this time he sat with Mia between his legs, he was hugging her and resting his chin slightly on her shoulder.
When they both looked at me I gave an awkward wave.
She smiled then quickly moved from the bed and rushed to me.
I extended my arms to her and embraced her closely when she stepped in my embrace.
“You are finally awake.” She whispered.
“Yes, and I feel much better.” I answered as I leaned in and kissed her head gently.
“What about you brother, are you fully recovered and okay?” I asked Brandon then glanced at him.
He smirked as he shifted and lay his back against the wall.
“I’m okay, just a little bit tired.” He answered using our mind link.
“Brother, we need to talk.” I mind linked him back.
He nodded then looked at Mia with a raised brow.
“Mia, I’m thirsty.” I whispered.
She looked up in surprise and faced me.
“Can I get you a glass of water?” I asked.
“Of course. Right away.” She answered then pulled back and rushed out of the ward.
“That won’t hold her for long?” Brandon pointed out the obvious.
“I know, but it doesn’t matter because I’m holding on to the last stroll of reasoning. I don’t want those two female alphas dead. I want their whole pack to burn down in ashes, with them in it.” I spat furiously.
“Good, because I want the same thing as well. And do you know what would make it fun?” He asked.
“What?” I asked back curiously.
“Having our old friend join in.” He answered.
I moved closer with a grin.
“Tell me you came into contact with him recently.” I said seriously.
“No, but I did ask Chris to look into it and as expected of our beta, he found out his whereabouts, and claimed his private cell phone number.” He answered.
A smile formed across my face, having to talk to and meet Cole again would be awesome. Our deadly trio would be formed once again.
Cole was one of the alphas we respected and accepted as our own brother despite not being related.
Our first encounter was still more of a joke than serious.
Flashback ( Years ago )
A pained howl of help was heard a mile away while Brandon and I were lazily going around the forest hunting down anything that came into view. Animal or not.
It was a weak yet pathetic howl that got our attention.
“Ignore it.” Brandon whispered.
“Are you seriously going to ignore it?. It might end up being fun.” I said softly knowing full well that he would give in.
“Fine, just this once I will give in.” He answered then walked ahead following the slight whimpering we were picking up.
“Yep. Just this once, like always.” I teased.
We walked quickly as we observed the surrounding area. Whoever it was, they were either in pain if not dead. Their howl was not only meant to call out for help but it proved that they were in pain.
“Look over there.” Brandon whispered when we reached the river bank.
A wolf was drowning and seemed to have no strength to swim up.
“Oh well, you have seen it. Can we now leave?” Brandon asked lazily.
“No, I remember that you owe me a dare brother. I dare you to serve that pathetic creature from drowning.” I said proudly.
He looked at me coldly for a second then moved closer and dived in. He swam to the wolf, grabbing it by the arm, and pulled it out of the water.
“There are you happy now?” He asked when he stood up and moved next to me.
I kept quiet observing the wolf carefully, it was largely built to be a lower rank, its size was nearly that of our own wolves and something about it felt off. It was as if it was an alpha wolf.
“You are an alpha aren’t you?” Brandon and I asked together as it tried to breathe calmly.
“Brother his an alpha wolf, I can smell his disgusting scent from here.” I said through our mind link.
“Let’s kill him already. Why did you even make me serve him?” Brandon complained furiously.
“Because his cry of help was pitiful. For an alpha he is weak.” I answered with pride knowing fully well that my brother and I were a lot stronger than he was.
The wolf jumped on me furiously and was about to bite my neck when Brandon furiously kicked it off of me.
It flew to the ground and quickly stood to its feet.
Brandon and I stared at it in anger. Did the bastard have a death wish or something?
“You wanted to kill my brother?” Brandon asked furiously.
He growled loudly as means of challenging us both.
At that moment our anger subsided. No one in our pack had ever stood up to us. Not even those we met by chance. They all easily submitted and followed our every command. Having someone stand up to us and try to harm us in any way was a first and that did impress us a lot.
We looked at each other then smirked.
“My name is Brandon, and this brother of mine is called Landon.” Brandon said.
“We aren’t yet at our best. But soon we will be. For now, we can use one more person to train with and stand with us as we conquer other packs.” I voiced out my true thoughts.
He shifted back into his human form and faced both of us seriously. He looked like our age mate and his height was closer to ours. The only difference was that he had a slim body and looked weak.
“Sure why not.” He answered huskily.
And from then on we became inseparable.
We took him in and we trained side by side. We became close to the point of hanging out together and later he opened up to us and told us how his twin brother had betrayed his pack. How he killed their parents and stabbed him to death then lit the whole pack house on fire. His story seemed rather odd but when we did a little digging of our own. It turned out that he was telling the truth. His brother was a thirsty psycho who craved for power. His aim was to run the whole pack but sadly their parents chose Cole as the soon-to-be alpha, and that’s when he lost it. He went and made a deal with a few rogues. Their deal was for them to kill Cole in exchange of a huge land. But it all went wrong when their parents got involved, the rogues had to kill the Luna and Alpha to stop them from interfering. The bastard then stabbed Cole and burned the pack house down. But that resulted in a breach of agreement, the rogues went wild and killed a lot of pack members. The bastard fled in fear and flew to another country leaving Cole to his death. Luckily the goddess was on Cole’s side. He crawled out of the flames and managed to escape the rogues. But they later caught on and drowned him. That’s how we came to meet him.
His story reminded us so much of our past and in him, we saw a brother.
We began conquering packs and killed without remorse or pity. The more we killed the colder and deadly we became.
Killing became a form of sport to us and it was fun for a very long time until Cole decided to leave us. His thirst for vengeance towards his brother was unbearable and he needed him dead.
We knew that we couldn’t keep him with us and be selfish. So we allowed him to go and that’s how we each went our own separate way.
End of flashback
The door opened and Mia walked in with two bottles of cold water.
“I brought one for each of you.” She said softly.
Brandon stood up and walked to her, lifting her up on his shoulder without warning.
“Brandon.” She gasped loudly.
“Brother, you will find the detailed file in my office on the first right drawer, I’ll keep an eye on our mate while you get to it.” He mind linked me then walked out leaving me standing.
“Lucky bastard.” I whispered then walked out as well.
