Brandon’s p. o. v
“Brother was that necessary?” Landon asked lazily.
“Do you suggest we go through with their fucked up idea?” I asked seriously.
“Well, if it’s the only way to know.” He answered as I glared at him.
“What?” He asked with a shrug.
“Fuck you.” I spat then stormed out of the office furiously.
How could he even think of doing that to our mate?. Yes, I too was curious to know what her wolf’s coat looked like. But that didn’t mean I agreed to inflict pain on her.
I walked upstairs to Landon’s room and stood at the door.
Why was I even here?. I had no idea what I wanted to do or say to Mia, sadly for some unknown reason I couldn’t just stay still.
“Screw this,” I whispered then turned to go back when the door opened and Mia stepped out.
“Were you about to go without a word?” She asked softly.
I turned and faced her with a soft sigh.
“I wanted you to get enough rest.” I lied.
She smiled then took my hand in hers surprising me.
“Do you want to come in?” She asked.
No!. Definitely not. I didn’t trust myself around her. She was my freaking mate and woman!. I saw no point in holding back on touching her.
“I have a few things to take care o ….”
“Just for some minutes.” She whispered softly cutting me off.
I groaned loudly then chuckled nervously. The tingles weren’t helping at all.
“Just give in,” Blake said with a soft purr.
“Fuck it,” I murmured under my breath then smiled.
“I would love to,” I answered then walked in.
She closed the door behind her with a smile while she held my hand tightly.
“Shall we sit?” She asked softly.
“Yeah sure,” I answered then moved with her to the bed and sat down with my gaze fixed to the ground.
“Hey,” She whispered softly.
I looked up and faced her, trying so hard to act calm and collected.
“What’s wrong?” She asked seriously.
“Nothing dear,” I answered simply.
“Brandon I know you, well I think I do. Something is definitely wrong and you are keeping me in the dark.” She said as I sighed loudly.
Was I doing the right thing by not telling her anything?. Or was I suppose to tell her the truth.
“Mia, you know that Landon and I adore you,” I said honestly.
She lifted her hand and pressed it on my cheek gently.
“And I love the both of you.” She answered.
I took her hand from my cheek then rubbed the top with my thumb.
“Have you ever heard anything about a golden wolf?” I asked in a low tone.
“A golden wolf?” She asked in a surprised voice.
“Yes,” I answered.
“Wait, is there such a thing as a golden wolf?” She asked curiously.
“Apparently yes, according to the elders. They went extinct due to being hunted down by other supernaturals. The golden wolves were way different from all the Werewolves because of their ability to control all minds. And by all, I mean any form of supernatural being, human or fantasy creature/shifter.” I answered.
“Oh,” She murmured then frowned.
“Is that what’s worrying you?” She asked.
“Yes,” I answered seriously.
“Did you by any chance come across one.” She asked as I swallowed hard.
“No Mia, the elders believe that your wolf is golden,” I answered, twisting up the truth a bit.
Her face instantly went pale. She pulled her hands from mine then stood up.
“Brandon, don’t tell me you believe them.” She said on top of her voice.
I stood up slowly then shrugged.
“I seriously don’t know what to believe. The way they explained everything, and remembering what had happened in our office matched up pretty well.” I answered.
“What do you mean by that?. Did something happen in your office?. And you seriously know that I’m an Omega, I can’t even defend myself around a high rank. How on earth can I be such a wolf?” She asked in a panicked voice.
“You sure can defend yourself pretty well Mia. Back in the office, Landon got furious with you and he was about to approach you when you warned him off. Do you know what your words freaking did to us?. We both lost our strength, as for Landon, he began coughing blood. He had to plead with you to calm down. Immediately you calmed down, that’s when our strength returned and we were able to breathe properly.” I answered seriously.
She kept quiet for a minute. Shock was filled in her expression.
“I know how unbelievable it is Mia. But it really did happen. And according to the elders we were talking to, that’s one of the golden wolf’s abilities. We understand clearly that you have never shifted before or seen your wolf’s coat, that’s why we want you to try and take it as a possibility.” I said then moved and closed the little space that was left between us.
“The elders suggested to give you a certain kind of poison that would make you go through unbearable pain but not kill you. They were sure that it’s the only way to force your wolf to come out. But I didn’t want to inflict any type of pain on you. So I instantly kicked them out and found myself wanting to be by your side.” I said softly then pressed both of my hands on the side of her neck.
She was staring at me with widened eyes. A second turned into a minute without a word.
“Mia please say something. Are you upset with me?” I asked huskily as tears filled her eyes.
“I… I don’t know what to say. Everything seems very hard and impossible to take in.” She answered.
I leaned in and kissed her forehead gently then embraced her.
“I too was in shock and I tried to deny it,” I said honestly.
She pulled back and took a step back.
“I’ll drink the poison.” She said shocking me.
“What the fuck did you just say?” I asked on top of my voice.
“I said, I will drink the poison.” She answered.
