Emily couldn’t stop cringing during the elevator ride. The woman beside her that had explained the uses of the two different elevators earlier noticed the stunned look coupled with a little bit of fear on her face.
“Miss… Are you alright?” She reached out to Emily who was currently in a trance. The light touch startled Emily a little but she managed to force a smile on her face.
“Yes, I’m fine,” She turned and nodded to reassure the woman. “By the way, thanks for informing me about the elevator earlier.” Emily realized that she never expressed her gratitude for the piece of information she learned about.
“It’s nothing… I just needed to save ya from running into the big boss, Ryan,” The woman leaned in to whisper into her ears. “He might fire you on the spot not even caring that you are a new employee.”
Emily gulped… Who is this big boss, Ryan? Is he the same… same rude jerk from that day? But she shook her head at this thought. If he was the one, he would have fired her that day just as the woman had just said.
Then who is he? How many bosses are in this company!? Emily forced a smile again as she listened to the woman chattering to her happily. Till she left the elevator, she didn’t ask for the woman’s name.
As soon as she got to the fourth floor, she breathed in relief. Walking to the receptionist’s desk, she asked, “Excuse me… Please which way is it to the boss’s office? Mr Chris.” She added the name just in case the receptionist gets confused about who the boss she is talking about is.
The lady behind the desk first gave Emily a scorching look, observing her appearance from head to toe before pointing to the hallway and giving directions without talking. Emily thanked her and left.

Chris could barely hold his laughter as he watched Ryan adjust the mask on his face. Scott didn’t even bother holding it in cause he burst into loud laughter.
Ryan glared at him before turning to Hoffman who is standing at least five metres away from him. Coughing, he said, “I’m listening. What were you talking about earlier? You said you know something about the mastermind. Which mastermind? How do you even know about this when you have never worked here before?”
He just bombarded Hoffman with questions. Hoffman glanced at Scott but immediately looked away. “Sir… You might not recognize me but I have worked here before… In fact, I worked for the mastermind directly.”
Scott gave a sharp gasp. The sound seemed to scare Hoffman cause he cowered away. He looked at Ryan and asked slowly, “Sir… Can I tell you this alone? I don’t want to share the information with other people.”
Chris looked at Ryan while Scott just clenched his fists tightly. “Fine then,” Ryan nodded. Chris and Scott took that cue and walked out.
Scott seemed to have bumped into Hoffman on his way out cause the frail man fell down and he immediately apologized, “I’m sorry. Let me help you up.”
He assisted the cowering man and left. Chris looked at his watch. “I hope they will be done with the secret telling soon,” He mumbled. Scott didn’t say anything.
He just kept on looking at the closed door with an expressionless face. Soon, the door opened and Hoffman rushed out. Chris and Scott watched in surprise as the man ran away like he was being chased.
They walked back in. “What’s with him!?,” Chris was the first person to speak but Scott was more concerned with something else. “Brother, what did he say?” He had a worried look on his face.
Ryan sighed and stood up. “He wasn’t willing to say anything but I know, he knows the mastermind,” He told the curious two in front of him.
“Then why did you let him leave!?,” Chris couldn’t help but exclaim. Ryan smirked, “Do you think I’ll really let him leave?”
Chris was confused. Scott was no exception. “That man had clearly wanted to say something but changed his mind midway. The only thing he told me is that he is the one that was carrying out all the fraud activities after receiving instructions from his boss… He was saying the truth,” Ryan paused.
“But then, when I asked him who the boss is. He started shaking like a leaf even though he tried to hide it and that was when he lied! I despise lies!” Ryan’s voice changed with the last statement.
Chris was scared when he discovered that both Ryan’s eyes and voice had changed. His eyes had the same colour as that of a raging fire. Scott however was unfazed.
This isn’t the first time he is witnessing this so it didn’t scare him anymore. “Cou… Cou… Cousin… Your… Eyes,” Chris stuttered, moving backwards in fear. His wolf could recognize the dangerous vibes Ryan was giving off.
“He’ll pay for lying to me! I’ll get the name of the mastermind out of him and make him pay also!” Ryan’s voice thundered in the room. Chris couldn’t talk again. Scott didn’t even say a word.
He just looked at Ryan like he was in deep thought. ‘So… Brother hates lies,’ he said inwardly.
Then a knock resounded on the door scaring Chris once again. Oh no! What would others say if they see Ryan like this!? But before he could ask Ryan to even hide, someone walked in with her head bowed.
“Sir, I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to come to work so late,” She spoke softly. She obviously didn’t notice the occupants of the room.
Chris was already panicking but Ryan spoke, “You!?” Chris closed his eyes in horror. How will they explain this? In his panicked state, he didn’t realize that Ryan’s voice sounded normal again.
Emily looked up and almost stumbled backwards when she saw Ryan in front of her. Oh no! Did he come here to complain to her boss?
“Chris… Who is she?” Ryan asked and that was when Chris opened his eyes. He heaved a sigh of relief when he saw that Ryan was back to normal even though he still doesn’t understand what just happened.
