So she couldn’t make it home in time to prepare dinner. She sighed as she removed her helmet and placed it carefully on the scooter.
She stretched her body that was already stiff from sitting for too long in the traffic before advancing to the house. The door was unlocked and there was no one in both the sitting room and the dining room.
But she found two covered plates on the table which is obviously meant to be her dinner. She walked to the rooms first to check on her sister and mother.
No one was in her room or Lena’s so she walked to her mother’s room. Before she even twisted the doorknob, she could already hear a loud cackle of laughter coming from the room.
Wondering what they were talking about that was so funny, she stepped into the room. Lena was the first person to notice her.
She was beaming with a smile that displayed cute dimples she always wonder who they got it from since their mother doesn’t have a single dent in her cheeks.
“Hey, sissy! Welcome back. You should shower and have dinner. We took so many pains to prepare that dinner for you and I’m sure it won’t taste as good as yours but you will surely feel our love in it,” Lena told her as she waved to greet her.
Mrs Jones reached out and flicked Lena’s head gently but that didn’t stop the latter from shouting in pain, “Ouch! Mom! What was that for?”
“Stop blabbering… You talk too much. No need to praise yourself when all you did was nothing!” Despite her exhaustion, Emily smiled watching them banter.
“Mom… Why do you always claim that I always do nothing when either of you cooks? I washed veggies alright and that was something to me ’cause it was tiring,” Lena refused to back down.
“That’s your normal position so we should applaud you for it huh? I really pity your future hubby!” Mrs Jones retorted. Lena gasped, her eyes turning round as saucers as if her mother just struck a nerve.
“Mom!!! Any man that would be lucky enough to marry me and be your son-in-law would be grateful for the rest of his life. Mark my words!” Lena proclaimed.
Emily burst into laughter and turned to walk out of the room. She knows that if she continues to watch the funny scene, she would probably never get dinner today.
Those two didn’t hear the door quietly close nor did they notice that Emily had already left them. They were only interested in having the last words at each other!

“Dad… Please… Just give me this chance. You allowed Mason to go abroad and study… Why can’t you just allow me to pursue my dreams too?” A gorgeous black-haired lady whined as she sat down at the dining table.
The beautiful, blinding lights illuminated from the chandelier above served as the source of light in the spacious dining room. It highlighted the faces of every family member sitting around that table.
There was the father sitting at the head of the table, an empty seat beside him obviously belonging to the middle-aged woman who is currently serving dinner, only three seats were occupied of remaining seats.
A young man who happens to look like the carbon copy of his father is sitting beside the latter. Two young ladies sat opposite him, apparently his sisters.
It’s the older one of the two girls that just spoke. Her father looked at her with an expressionless face. “Leilani… I thought your dream is to become a suitable Luna for the Kral,” he replied before digging into the sumptuous dish in front of him.
The lady he had just called Leilani pouted and responded grumpily with a nod, “Yes… I do want to be a suitable luna for the Kral but how am I going to do that when he isn’t even present here? How will he ever notice me before all these gold diggers stretch out their claws at him?”
Her mother smiled at her response as she sat down to eat. “Hmm… I heard the alpha king is finding a way to bring him back so why are you in such haste? How will going to college to become a model help you win his heart?” Her father had a genuinely confused look on his face.
Leilani looked frustrated. How will she explain it to dad to make him understand? Luckily, her mother came to her rescue.
“Miles,” The woman’s soft tone cut in their conversation. “What our daughter is trying to say is that if you allow her to go to the college in New York and become a model, she can enhance her beauty and charm to be suitable for being our future luna… That way she can also get to meet Kral since he is also in New York. No man would be able to resist our Leilani.”
Leilani smiled. Finally, someone understood her. Mason looked up for the first time since he started eating. He had this similar cold look on his face to that of Miles. He looked at Leilani with plain mockery in his eyes and looked like he wanted to say something.
But in the end, he decided against it and faced his food. Inwardly, he thought,’ They still don’t get that Kral isn’t just any man. He wouldn’t be bearing that title if he was so incapable.’
Miles gave the two women, both his wife and daughter a meaningful look before saying, “No… I won’t gamble on your future. Eat your food. I don’t want to hear any more of this.”
Leilani looked like she wanted to cry but her mother gave a gaze that clearly said,’ Don’t worry… I’ll persuade him.’
Leilani’s sad expression wiped off and she turned to her food happily. But just then, she heard a low voice say, “Just give up sister. Let fate take its course… The moon goddess has already chosen his mate, a much more suitable luna for him…”
Leilani turned to glare at her sister who gave her an innocent smile.
