“Why, Astrid? Why did you do it?” He roars angrily, as he clenches his fists beside him, while he grits his teeth. His blood boils in rage as he stares at her. It’s only taking all of his self-restraint not to pounce on her and rip her heart off her chest, but he has no idea for how long he will be able to control this demonic anger that keeps trying to consume him.
Astrid drops her gaze sadly as a drop of tears slid down her cheek. Her cover has just been blown, and she’s in a deep mess now. Alpha Damien won’t spare her, and she knows it. She feels her world crashing down to her feet, and the more the seconds ticks, the more she feels her doom drawing close to her, and she can’t help the fear that keeps penetrating her bones and all of her.
“I ask again, Astrid… Why did you do it?” His voice is filled with a dark and intimidating aura, as he finally moves his leg.
“Forgive me, my lord. I was wrong…” Her voice quivers as she trembles on the floor. Her heart keeps racing rapidly and pumping violently against her chest like it’s trying to escape the wrath of the dangerous man standing in front of her.
“That doesn’t answer my question, why did you do it? How much were you paid? Who paid you to do it?” He roars, this time squatting in front of her.
“I… I… I love you, alpha…” Her voice quivers fearfully as she stutters. For so many years, she has been keeping this to herself, thinking that one day her dream will finally come true, but that never happened, and now she can’t wait anymore. She couldn’t have folded her arms and watched another woman take him away from her, right? A daughter of his enemy at that. It hurts her dignity that even if he was going to settle for another woman aside from her, it shouldn’t have been her. Why does it have to be her, even after everything that her father did in the past? Why was it not another woman?
“You love me? And when did I permit you to love me?” He shouldn’t be saying this, but he can’t help it. To think that he trusts this woman so much that she would never do anything to harm him, he feels like he was fooled. How could he have brought himself to trust her? He has been aware of her feelings for him for many years, but to him, she was just someone that satisfied his needs on the bed, and he never had any special feelings for her. He never imagined that he would go to the extreme length of hurting the woman he loves. What a wicked woman.
“You didn’t permit me to, but I never need your permission to love you, do I?” She finally raises her gaze to look at him with so much pain on her face. Her heart hurts deeply, and knowing that she’s going to die anyway, she made up her mind to spill her mind and face the consequences. Besides, she can only die once.
“We have been together for many years… What have I not done for you? What have I not done for you? I gave you my heart, body, and soul. I gave you all of me… I lived for you… Everything I do was all for you…” More tears stream down her cheeks as she finally stands up to her feet.
“Astrid…” He calls and takes a deep breath, standing up to his feet. He’s just trying to hold himself back from hurting her, for old-time sake, but laying hands on the woman he loves? That’s where his beast won’t be tamed.
“You shouldn’t have done that, Astrid… You shouldn’t have done that…” He roars in between gritted teeth, clenching his fists beside him as she closes his eyes, taking a deep breath.
“I have always loved you, even knowing that you never felt the same way toward me. At least, it was fine with me since you didn’t have anyone at heart… I did everything possible to be the best in your eyes, I did everything and showed you how much I love and care about you…, but you never gave a damn about me. Wasn’t my love obvious enough, or is it just you turning blind eyes to it all along?” She scoffs painfully.
“I can only love one, and my heart has been taken by someone…”
“Why does it have to be her? Why was it not another woman? Why does it have to be the daughter of the man you detest so much? Why does it have to be the daughter of your enemy?” She yells at the top of her voice, interrupting her.
“And when has it been your right to tell me what to do with my life? When has it become necessary to listen to you? When has it become an obligation to do what you want…”
“It’s an insult to my dignity! Maybe it wouldn’t have hurt so much if it were to be another woman but she? It didn’t have to be her!” Her heart aches as she vents her anger. She has no reason to be quiet anymore, she has no reason to be afraid anymore. Besides, he’s not going to spare her anyway.
“That still never gave you any right to hurt my woman…”
“Then slit my throat and kill me because of her…” She cuts him off.
“At least it wouldn’t be so painful if you relieve me of the pain I’m already going through, by taking my life. I don’t regret doing that, and I hope she never returns, even if I’m going to die too. I hate her so much with everything I hold dear,” More tears stream down her cheeks, and Damien sighs briefly.
“What? You don’t want to do it, or you can’t do it?” She scoffs and rolls her eyes.
“Guards! Guards!!” He suddenly roars after a few seconds of silence, and two guards rush in.
“Lock her up in the prison. Make sure she doesn’t escape…” He pauses, then turns his attention to her, and continues, “You better pray that nothing happens to her. You’ll be doomed if she ever gets hurt,” And with that, he turns around and stride out, while Astrid breaks down in tears…
