Dark Blood Pack
“Is… She my… child?” Helga whispers as she stares at the flowers, a drop of tears sliding down her cheeks. She never imagined that a day like this would ever come again. A day she would see this man again. The past she thought she had buried come haunting her, and she can’t help the sadness that fills her from within. Why does he have to be the one? Why does he have to show up before her now? Those are the questions that she keeps asking herself as she stares into space.
“What happened, Amelie? I thought you died?” Nicolai finally asks the question he has been craving for moments now. He looks shocked and confused. He should be because anyone in his shoe will feel the same way. Just twenty-six years ago, he and this woman were so much in love. Yes, she was the alpha’s wife, but he loved her still. He was ready to do anything to be by her side, he was ready to scale through oceans and reach her wherever she was, he loved her with everything that he held dear, and because of her, he betrayed his best friend and took his life.
They were living just fine after they left until he realized that she was pregnant. He was excited that she was carrying his child, each day that passed, he always looked forward to the day that he would carry his child in his arms, and be happy with the only woman he had come to love. However, all of his dreams were shattered when he had fate offered him two horrible and heartbreaking offers to choose between his unborn child and the mother.
Of course, he wasn’t too dumb to have chosen the child over his beloved wife, but fate wasn’t fair to him. The baby was birthed, and the love of his life, she lost her life in the process. For so many years, the child he was supposed to give all the love and attention in the world, he caused her nothing, but pain. It was all because of this woman, and all these while she has been alive? That’s crazy.
“What happened, Amelie? Did you fake your death? Why did you do that?” He asks with a hint of sadness and pain resounding in his voice. His heart wrenches in pain as he slowly clenches his fist beside him. He feels used and betrayed. Why did she do that?
“Yes, Nicolai… I faked my death,” She finally answers the question and cleared his curiosity and confusion, but he still doesn’t feel satisfied with her reply. Did she fake her death? Why would she do that?
“Why?” He has so many questions to ask her, but he can only ask her this, as he’s too weak to say anything.
“Because I needed to. I would be stuck with you forever if I had not done that,” Deep inside her, she feels her heart hurting, but she tries as much as to not let it show in her voice. As much as she wants to break down in tears, she also doesn’t want to appear weak and pathetic in front of him.
“I thought you loved me, Amelie?” A drop of tears finally slid down the corner of his eye as his mouth drops open. His lips tremble, and his legs suddenly become weak. Too weak to carry him, that he may collapse anytime soon.
“For twenty-six years… Twenty-six years, Amelie, and I have been so pained. I have lived in grief… I spent each day of my life, missing you… I wished that you were here with me, and all these while you have been alive?” He asks again, puzzled. For the first time in so many years, he feels broken, for the first time he feels guilty as he thinks of everything he has made the innocent girl go through in the past. All because of her absence in his life, he has turned into a useless werewolf that now craves nothing, but power. All because of her!
“Why did you do that?” He drops another question, as he slowly takes steps toward her, his eyes not leaving hers. He has missed her so much that he wants to hug her and tell her how much he has missed her presence in his life, he wants to let her know how much he has wanted her so badly, but recalling everything that happened, he can’t help feeling betrayed.
“Does it matter?” She shrugs as a drop of tears finally slid down her cheek. All she ever wanted was to get her revenge, all she ever wanted was to make the man that took her husband away from her, pay for everything. She wanted to be happy, and Nicolai… He was only her revenge tool.
Years ago, after the death of her husband and almost all the villagers, she had gone to the Blue moon pack some months later to get her revenge. It was fortunate for her that none of the pack members recognized her as the mate to the late alpha of the then Grave Claw pack.
Before she went to the pack, she has already strategized everything, and it was working perfectly for her. To get her vengeance, she had to make a sacrifice that left her broken. She was working as a maid in the royal castle, until that night when she poisoned the alpha’s wine, thinking that it was going to kill her. She wanted to stand there and watch him cry in pain until his system couldn’t take it anymore, and he would finally die. However, things took another turn, and that night was the worst day of her life. The alpha got so drunk that he ended up forcing himself on her in his chamber.
Waking up the next day, she felt miserable and it felt as though she betrayed her late husband. She was more shocked when the alpha confessed his love to her and asked to marry her, regardless of her being a maid. She saw it as an opportunity, even if she didn’t want to do it.
Getting married to the alpha was her worst nightmare that kept haunting her every day that passed, until she noticed that the alpha’s beta, Nicolai was having soft spot for her, even if she was still married to the alpha.
That night after the alpha had gone on a trip, she ended up on Nicolai’s bed, as they both moaned in ecstasy, exploring their love. To Nicolai, she felt the same way for her, if only he knew that he was nothing, but her revenge tool, then maybe all these would’ve been avoided.
After having sex with Nicolai a couple of times, the young man couldn’t help wanting her to himself for the rest of his life. When the alpha had come back from the trip, he was even more broken that the alpha was going to lay her, and he got jealous. Just a few weeks later, she was able to manipulate him to poison the alpha, which ended up killing him. She thought she could escape after her mission was completed, but she was wrong as Nicolai took her away from the pack, and they went to live amongst the humans.
She had tried everything she could, to get out of the place, but it never worked, until she realized that she was carrying his child. She made up her mind to stay for the sake of her unborn child, and for the sake of the soft spot she was already developing for Nicolai. It only lasted for a few months until she gave birth, and realizing that she still had tasks ahead of her, she had to make that decision. She had to fake her death in order not to get stuck with them forever.
For many years, she has lived missing her child with each day that passes by. She couldn’t help imagining what the little girl she abandoned years ago, would look like by now. She couldn’t help wanting to see her for so many years.
“It doesn’t matter…” He repeats her words and scoffs unbelievably.
“Do you ever love me?” He asks again, looking into her eyes as if the answer he seeks is written on her forehead or her eyes. For a few minutes, the two stare at each other as he awaits her reply.
“To me, you were just my revenge tool,” Hearing this from her, his face drops into a sad one. Of course, he knew about everything that happened in the past. She told her that she only wanted the alpha dead, but the stupid thing he did was ever believing that she loved him. What was he even thinking?
“Is… she my daughter?” She asks for the second time, and he scoffs.
“Does it matter? She’s going to die anyways…” He pauses with the corner of his lip slowly twitching into a smirk.
“We’re all going to die, Amelie,” He finally says, and she steps away from him…
