He groans angrily, shutting his eyes. Who the fuck is at the door, and why would he or she disturb him at this moment?
“Who’s there?” He asks angrily.
“My lord… There’s a problem. Astrid fell into the cliff and fainted,” Hearing this, Cassie’s heart wrenches in pain as anger shoot through her. Here she was, thinking that it was something serious, little did she know that her husband’s mistress is the one in danger.
She stares up at him, waiting for his next action. He won’t possibly leave her, right? Will he go to her or satisfy her first?
“I’ll be back,” And with that, he pulls away from her and stands up to his feet, grabbing his robe from the floor and wearing it swiftly, storming out of the room afterward like someone worried about his lover.
Staring at the closed door, her heart breaks into a million pieces as she slowly clenches her fists. Tears well up in her eyes and they find their way out afterward. What was she even thinking? That he’ll care about her more than his werewolf concubine? Who is she to think that? She’s just a mere human that was probably forced into his life, how could she have overthought it?
Still lost in thoughts, she feels someone’s presence, and snapping out of her deep thoughts, she almost jumps out of her skin at the sight that welcomes her. Dean is standing close to the door while leaning against the wall and having his arms crossed on his chest. The corner of his lips slowly twitches into a smirk as he stares at her. She’s still naked, but good thing that she has the duvet covering her body. Maybe he would’ve seen her naked now.
“What are you doing here?” She asks, turning her face away, and he scoffs.
“Just take this as a favor. You must be hurt, so I’m here to comfort you. That’s a good idea, right?” He speaks confidently, finally standing up to his feet and walking over to her.
“Don’t come close to me… Don’t..” She says to him sternly, drawing back on the bed while holding on tightly to the duvet on her chest, tears streaming down her cheeks. She’s in much pain already, why the heck is he making things difficult for her?
“Come on, Cassie. I’m not as bad as your husband. Who knows what he might be doing with Astrid now? Maybe they’re both cuddling on the bed, while he comforts her… Or maybe they may be kissing and exploring each other’s mouth now… Or even maybe… Having sweet sex,” He whispers the last part while emphasizing it. He must be doing that intentionally.
“Do you still want to stick with him? You can imagine the many concubines he has, and she’s just one out of them. They’re all werewolves, he won’t ever feel anything for you, so don’t bother developing feelings for him. To him, you are just someone who was imposed on him by his people, you two are just together because he had no choice… He wouldn’t have been with you if he had a choice… Think straight, Cassie,” She bites her bottom lip as she holds the duvet tightly, his works sinking into her head. He’s right after all. She’s just a mere human that has no magical power, how is he supposed to ever love her?
“You… You’re lying. Leave me the hell alone, din . Stop messing with my head…” She cries bitterly, clutching her head tightly like she’s suffering from some illness. As much as she knows that he may be saying the truth, she still tries to convince herself that he’s lying. She doesn’t want to believe what he’s saying, but seeing the truth staring right back at her, she can’t possibly deny it, right?
Recalling how he treated her the first day she stepped her feet in the castle, how he suddenly changed overnight after having sex with her, it’s all suspicious. It couldn’t have been that he only wanted sex from her, right? What’s happening?
Still lost in thoughts, the door suddenly opens, and she snaps her head up to see Damien inside the room. She looks around the room, but Dean already left. He probably disappeared the way he had appeared in the first place.
Damien stops abruptly and looks around the room with a suspicious expression on his face. He feels like someone was here, he can still feel the familiar scent, but there’s no way his best friend could’ve been here while he was away, knowing that he’s keeping a woman inside the room, right?
“How is she?” She asks, whilst staring into space. She tries so hard to fight back her tears as she feels her heart wrenches in pain. She doesn’t want to cry in front of him, she can’t possibly let him see how hurt she is. There’s no way she’ll cry in his presence, right?
“Yeah, it wasn’t something serious. She’s asleep now,” He replies to her casually as if he didn’t notice the pain written all over her. Now he’s giving her the impression that what Dean said is true.
“Alright. I’ll get some sleep now,” She smiles at him before she lay on the bed and face the other side, finally letting her tears fall freely from her eyes. Maybe she was destined to suffer emotionally for the rest of her life, she thought that he was different from her father but turns out that he is not. Maybe he has just been disguising to get in between her legs.
“What are you saying, Cassie? He is your husband now, he has every right to touch you,” Her subconscious mind reminds her, and she shuts her eyes tightly, more tears streaming down her cheeks.
Meanwhile, Damien stands on the spot and stares at her blankly. For some reason, he doesn’t feel attracted to her like he was before he went out. What the heck happened? Why is he suddenly like this?
