Chapter 64

Book:Fated To Be His Mate Published:2024-6-2

“For how long do you plan to do this for Nicolai?” His mouth drops open in shock, and he slowly raises his gaze to look at her, having a shocked expression on his face. How did she know about that?
“You’re speechless, aren’t you? For how long do you plan to do his dirty job? For how long do you want to remain his puppet? Because you’re scared? It was all your fault, father! It was your crime… You needed to have owned up to it, why then aren’t you brave enough to do that? Because you’re scared of what may happen? Did you think about that when you did it?” She asks sarcastically, follow by loud chuckles.
“You’re a coward, father. You’re nothing, but a coward! That’s what you are!” She yells at him, and he flinches in fear. His whole body trembles in fear as he stares at her.
“Because of him, you have made me and Lucien suffer so much… Because of him, you imprisoned my brother and you’re trying to make me do your dirty job… All because you want to please that bastard. Do you have a conscience at all?” She yells again.
“It’s not what you think, Lydia… It’s… It’s not what you’re thinking…” He stutters nervously as fear grips him. He gulps down nothing nervously as his forehead suddenly becomes sweaty.
“What is it, father? What is it like?” With a smirk dancing at the corner of her lips, she whispers. Her voice is surrounded by a dark and intimidating aura that keeps trying to consume him. He tries not to let his fear take over him, but it’s like the more he tries to be brave, the darker her aura becomes. He finds it hard to believe that he’s suddenly scared of his own daughter, but this isn’t the time to think about that.
“I ask again, father… What is it like? Isn’t your life a pathetic one, huh? You were so desperate for power… You wanted to be alpha so badly… You wanted nothing, but just to rule… And what happened when you suddenly became the alpha? Your power started controlling you, and guess what… You’re now a slave to power… Your power has turned you into a puppet that someone else now controls you. Don’t you think the Blood Moon pack has some good reputation that shouldn’t be ruined by a weakling like yourself? Don’t you think they deserve a better alpha? Don’t you think that they need no coward sitting on the throne and calling himself their king when he can’t even uphold his dignity?” Her voice echoes in the room, while he just sits and stares at her.
“Don’t you think that it’s better to die than to live like this?” She suddenly pulls out a dagger from her cloth, and walks slowly over to him, having that dangerous and deadly smirk dancing at the corner of her lips.
“Do… Don’t do it, Lydia… Remember that I am your father…” His heart thumping heavily against his ribcage, his forehead covered in sweat, and his body trembling with fear written all over him, he pleads for his dear life.
“My father?” She chuckles dryly as she suddenly stops, holding the dagger like she’s going to rip off his heart anytime soon.
“Yes… Yes… Yes, Lydia… I am your father… You have to think about…”
“That’s why I want to relieve you of this curse… Because I want you to finally be free from being a coward… I don’t want anyone to make you his puppet, father… I am doing you a favor… I am doing this for you, don’t you understand?” She whispers slowly, staring at the dagger, not letting the dangerous smirk off her lips.
“You can’t do this to me, Lydia… You can’t kill me…”
“That’s the only way to help you out of this curse, father…” With an evil grin on her lips, she raises the dagger to stab him right in the chest.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Her voice snaps him back to reality, and that’s when it dawns on him that he has been hallucinating since.
“Uhm… Uhm…” He stutters nervously, looking away. His heart beating rapidly against his chest…
Dark Blood pack…
She groans tiredly, sitting up on the mat with all the strength left in her. For the past three days, she hasn’t tasted anything because she couldn’t bring herself to drink the blood of animals, raw meat, or eat the livers of deer. It’s disgusting to her. She has been stuck on this mat for three days, but it feels like she has been here for years. If her three days here are like this, she can’t help imagining what the rest of the time she’ll be spending here will be like, or maybe the rest of her life, because it doesn’t seem like anyone will come to her aid at this point.
She yawns tiredly, stretching her hands. This is all she can do, just sitting and stretching herself. She can’t even stand up from the mat, let alone go out of the room. She has just been here, feeding on the burning incense as she awaits the day she’ll either be free from this hell or finally be united with her late mom. But one thing that she wishes for is for this woman to do whatever she wants to do with her, and either let her go or kill her. She can’t continue being here forever, right?
“You’re stubborn, and I like your type…” The familiar feminine voice suddenly sounds in the room, pulling her attention as she looks in the direction of the voice, and there she is. She has been wondering how someone this innocent would be this deadly inside. She’s the perfect definition of never judging a book by its cover. She looks like a saint outside, but a female monster inside.
“When are you going to kill me, or should I say let me go?” Cassie asks angrily, throwing her a dirty glare.
“I think the earlier is the case, but not too fast. I need you to do something for me, and after then… You’ll be free to go to the underworld and live there forever… What do you think?” The corner of her lips slowly twitches into a smirk as she squats down in front of her, and touches her chin slowly.
“What do you want from me?” She asks boldly, whilst staring into her eyes. For some seconds, Helga stares back at her unbelievably. Nobody ever dared to look her in the eyes, but this girl’s guts and aura are something she hasn’t been able to decipher where they’re always coming from. How come she has never been scared of her? How come she stares at her with that daring look? How come she’s not begging for her life the way she should, even after scaring her?
“Who are you really? What’s with the aura and guts?” Unable to hold it in anymore, she questions her in a husky voice, staring deeply into her eyes as though the answer is written in her eyes.
Cassie stares back at her in confusion. Again, that feeling comes nibbling at her again. Those eyes, she has seen them before, but it’s still unclear where and how she has seen them. It feels as though she has seen this woman before. Maybe if it was in her dreams she would’ve remembered now.
“Never mind…” Helga says dismissively, as she stands up to her feet and turns around.
“I have good news and a bad one… Which one do you want to hear first?” Helga asks, walking around the room elegantly while holding up her shoulders gracefully.
Cassie falls silent instead, whilst glaring hard at this annoying creature in front of her.
“The good news is that I got some information about your father… I’ve sent words to him to let him know that you’re here. Don’t you think that he’ll be happy to see you again?” Hearing this from her, Cassie can’t help the sarcastic laughter that tears through her throat. Of course, she wasn’t expecting to hear that from her.
“Don’t bother yourself… He will never show up,” She says, and Helga smiles softly, turning around to face her.
“And what if I tell you that he’ll show up? Well… If I should let you know… Your father wants you dead, so he’ll be glad to be here and maybe convince me to help him kill you,” hearing this from her, Cassie’s heart sinks into her stomach.
“Do you want to hear the bad news?” She asks, turning around to face her with a smirk dancing at the corner of her lips…
