“Cassie!” Alpha Damien’s thunderous voice echoes in the garden, getting Kai and Cassie’s attention. The two snaps their head in the direction to see him standing just at the entrance of the garden.
“My… my lord…” She stutters nervously, as she turns her face away.
“What are you doing here?” He finally walks over to them, his gaze not leaving her body. He has an angry look on his face.
“I… I… I was taking a rest here,” Her heart thumps heavily against her ribcage as she stares everywhere else except his face.
Damien bites the bottom of his lips, glaring hard at her. His heart keeps beating rapidly as he clenches his fists beside him, his blood boiling in pure rage for no reason. Taking a deep breath, he raises his gaze to his annoying friend, as he glares at him.
“Why? Are you angry?” Kai’s voice suddenly echoes in his head, and he scoffs loudly.
“Why should I be?” He replies in telepathy.
“Sorry, but you’re not good at hiding your feelings, it’s written all over you. Are you in love with her?” Kai’s voice echoes in his head again, and he rolls his eyes.
“Stop talking nonsense,” He telepathed with him again.
Feeling uneasy about the sudden dead silence, Cassie slowly raises her gaze to see alpha Damien glaring hard at Kai as if he will rip him off anytime soon.
“Forgive me, my lord,” Scared of what he might do next, she falls to her knees and pleads with him with sincerity in her voice.
“I don’t want to see you here, get out!” His cold voice sends a chilled sensation down her spine, and she finds herself crawling away with her body trembling in fear.
“Cassie, come and get Milo with you,” She stops abruptly as the realization hits her hard that she hasn’t picked up her cat yet.
Alpha Damien pulls a puzzled look, wondering what his dear friend is talking about. The last time he remember, Milo belonged to his friend how come he’s asking her to come and get him? As much as he wants to ask his friend about it, he decides to just stay mute about it. He watches as she picks up the cat in her arms, and scurries out of the garden, closing the door behind her. He stares at her until she’s out of his sight, and the corner of his lips slowly twitches into a smirk.
“She’s pretty, isn’t she?” Kai’s voice pulls him back to reality, and he glances at him.
“What do you mean? Are you having a crush on her?” The anger in his voice is not something that can be hidden, even if he tried to hide it. Hearing that from him for some reason unknown to him stirs up his anger.
“Am I not allowed to, huh? Besides, she’s pretty, she has a perfect curvy body, and she’s naive and innocent. Tell me why I shouldn’t allow myself to fall so in love…”
“Stop it! Just stop it this minute!” He cuts Kai off, as waves of anger spark through him. He tried not to let his words get to him, he tried not to let them affect him, but hearing those words from him is annoying. He tried to control his anger, he tried to convince himself that it was nothing, but seeing the truth staring back at him, can he still go ahead and deny it?
“Why should I? Come on, I’m a man and I have eyes for beautiful things too…”
“She’s my maid! How can you be so shameless, huh? She’s a maid, what’s so special about her, huh?” He scoffs trying to sound natural.
“Haven’t you heard of the love story between a handsome beta and a pretty maid? I think it’ll be cool since I’m fine with it. We’ll make the perfect couples ever, and when we have kids in the future, I bet they’ll be pretty and handsome,” Kai says dreamily, cupping his cheeks in his palms, and making a puppy face.
“Or, what do you think?” Kai further asks, a dirty smirk playing at the corner of his lips.
“You’re just crazy, Kai. You better wake up from that dream of yours,” He tries not to sound angry.
“It’s not a dream, my lord. Didn’t you see that we look so good together? I’m beginning to feel the mating bond between the two of us, and I think she’s my fated…”
“Enough! Enough of this nonsense, Kai. What has come over you? What is wrong with you?” He yells at the top of his voice when he can’t take it anymore. He has been trying to stay calm and not react to his anger, but this annoying friend of his keeps pushing him off limit.
“Why should I stop, huh? I think I’m in love…”
“She’s my property!” He yells at the top of his voice, startling Kai. He clenches his fists as he breathes heavily, biting his bottom lip as the realization of what he just said hits him hard.
“Your property? Are you in love with her? Look at you, my poor friend is jealous,” Kai chuckles softly as he tucks his hands inside his pockets.
“Yes, she’s my property. I bought her, and she belongs to me. She’s not allowed to talk with any other person in the castle, except me. Stay the hell away from her in the future, if you don’t want to see the other side of me, Kai,” He says to Kai sternly, then turns around and starts walking away, but stops abruptly and takes a deep breath.
“I am not in love with her, and there’s no reason to get jealous. Stay away from Cassie in the future,” And with that, he ambles out of the garden, while Kai stands there with a smirk dancing at the corner of his lips.
“This is going to be really interesting. Let the game begin,” his smirk slowly widens into a grin as he stares at the closed door…
