Cassie POV
His question takes me by surprise and I just stand staring at him confusingly. How am I supposed to know what he’s talking about? He was the one that bought me and brought me here, how is it possible that he’s suddenly asking me this? Judging from the look on his face, he doesn’t look like everything is fine, and I’m beginning to get nervous already.
“Who is your father?” His words echo in my head again, and I gulp down nothing. He only asked me a question, but I feel like there’s more to the question he asked, and I’m already getting all nervous.
“My… my father? He… he’s Mr. Robert,” Even if I want to be bold, being around him is enough to make me nervous. I feel my heart beating fast as if it’s going to pop out of my chest anytime soon. Why do I feel like everything is not fine?
I watch as he stares at me for seconds with an unexplainable expression on his face, but even if it isn’t written on his face what the problem is, I can see clearly that something awful is going on.
An awkward silence assumes the chamber, and I bet he can hear my beat so fast. His dark and intimidating aura keeps radiating in the room, sending chilled sensations over my body, I feel my legs suddenly weaken.
He suddenly stands up, and I almost flinch. He starts walking steadily towards me, and as though his footsteps are beating a drum for my already swollen heart, it keeps beating violently with every step he takes. He finally stops in front of me, we’re standing just inches apart, and I can literally feel his breath on my body. My knees suddenly weaken, but I try to stand on my feet.
He leans in on me, burying his face in my neck, and I clutch my dress tightly as my breath hitch. What the heck is he doing to me? Why is my body reacting like this under his touch? Even if I so much need answers to my question, I just seem not to ever get one. I stand still as his breath caress the most sensitive part of my neck, sending a weird sensation over my body.
He suddenly pulls back from me and I snap my eyes open, but the sight I behold makes me freeze on the spot. His eyes have changed color, they’re now black.
“What’s Odora leaves scent doing in your body?” I freeze on the spot at the coldness and deepness of his voice. For the next seconds, I wonder if he was the one that talked to me just now, or if someone else did. I look around the room and it’s still just the two of us in the room, which means the demonic voice came from him. I open my mouth to talk, but words fail me, as my lips only tremble. I wonder what he is talking about.
“Guards!” He roars, and before I can comprehend what’s going on, the door opens and two guards rush inside.
“My lord,” They both bow slightly.
“Take her away and lock her up in the prison,” His deep and emotionless voice echoes in the room and my eyes slowly narrow.
“Mas… master… What… what…” They bundled me out of the room without waiting for me to talk.
“Let me go! You can’t lock me up in the prison for nothing… Let me go,” They keep dragging me along the veranda till they get to the front of a door, and they push it open. They drag me inside and push me behind the bar gate, locking it afterward. They both exit the room and close the main door, engulfing me in the dark room.
“You have to let me out of here! Anyone there? I didn’t do anything, you can’t lock me up just like that…” I bang on the gate, but it seems like I’m only going to exhaust myself. They’re gone already and can’t even hear me speak.
Tears slid down my cheeks as my hands slowly drop from the bar gate. What did I ever do to deserve this pain I’m going through now? First, it was my father and now a total stranger that I don’t even know from anywhere, treating me as though I’ve offended him before. Just why is my life like this?
I manage to locate the wall. I sit on the cold floor and cuddle myself up while leaning against the wall as my tears find their way out of my eyes. For how long will I continue to suffer like this? For how long will I have to live in pain each day of my life?
My stomach suddenly grumbles, reminding me that I haven’t had anything to eat since daybreak. I have spent hours, cleaning my supposed room, and it was immediately after I rounded up cleaning, that madam Leila came to call me earlier. I clutch my stomach and yawn hungrily. It seems like I’m going to starve to death since nobody is going to bring food for me.
I hear a rattling noise from the bar door, and I jerk up in alarm.
“Who’s there?” Since I’m in the land of the monsters who can do and undo, the least I can do is to be alert always. Not that it can help me anyway, but it’s better to know when harm is coming to me than to be caught unaware.
Whoever is at the door doesn’t say a word, but instead, the sound continues. Seconds later, two strong hands grab me roughly and pull me up to my feet, and I wince in pain. My whole body hurts from the work I did earlier and from sitting on the cold floor for hours now.
“Wh… what do you want? Let me go!” I struggle to free myself from the mysterious arms that engulf me, but I seem to just be wasting my time. They drag me to God knows where and as soon as we step out of the prison, they push me roughly to my knees. We’re now outside and it’s bright out here.
Thick footsteps draw closer and even if I haven’t checked out who the person is, I can already tell from his dark and intimidating aura that surrounds the atmosphere.
“My lord,” They bow, but as expected he didn’t say a word.
“Explain this, what is it doing in your room?” He throws a cologne in front of me, and my eyes slowly narrow. How did he find that?…
