“You didn’t have to do that, my lord,” One of the old werewolves utters, bowing respectfully.
Alpha Damien is sitting on his throne, having a meeting with all the members of the palace castle. Over the years, although alpha Damien may be someone feared by people, if there’s one thing he cherishes the most, it is the cooperation of his people, and he dims it fit to listen to them, no matter how difficult it seems to be for him. He’s a very understanding alpha.
“Yes, my lord. Lord Luther is right. Who knows, maybe this young lady is innocent. I know you’re angry and seeking vengeance, but don’t you think it’s better to be sure of everything before you take any action?” Another one stands up and utters, while alpha Damien keeps staring into space, listening to them one after the other.
“We’re not even sure if she’s the daughter of the beta,” Another one shrug.
“I have been patient for over twenty years, and I can’t take it anymore. That bastard betrayed my father, impregnated, and ran away with the late alpha’s wife, and as if that was not enough, he raided the pack and got my father killed. For the past twenty-three years, he managed to hide, and now that I’m almost getting him, I don’t care what comes out of it,” Anger resounds in his voice as he glares hard into space.
“But…”
“I could’ve kidnapped her instead, but I have my reasons why I decided to buy her. Kidnapping her will surely mess everything up, it’ll trigger that bastard’s suspicions, and he may run away even before we find out the truth. I will never be able to forgive myself if something like that happens,” He finalizes, and they all glance at each other.
“Your wish is our command, lord Damien,” They all chorus…
Hours later, Damien stands in the garden with his hands wrap behind him, as he stares at the beautiful flower. Memories of years ago flash through his mind, and he sighs softly. He was living happily with his father, he was the best father anyone would wish to have, he gave him everything and always stood by his side, but after his death, his life had become a mess. The cries of his father before he died, are what he can never forget, the pain the innocent man went through from the poison, even after many years, it still feels as though he’s hearing the cries every second of his life.
The late alpha was poisoned by his beta, and as if that was not enough, the man ran away with the alpha’s wife that was his concubine.
“My lord,” His beta, Kai walks into the garden. Kai is Damien’s beta, but they’ve been friends since childhood. The two grew up together, and they share both bad and good memories, but in all, Kai has proven to be a loyal servant that has always stood by his friend’s side from day one.
“Kai…” Damien glance at him and sigh briefly. He has gotten so much going on in his mind lately.
“I heard what happened,” Kai sighs, and he nods.
“What are you planning to do?” Kai asks.
“I’m going to interrogate her, and if my hunch is right, then she has to explain to my father in the other world, why her father had to do the barbaric thing he did to the man that gave him everything and treated him like his own brother,” His voice sounds emotionless.
“Don’t you think that’ll be too fast? I think you should send words to Dean and tell him what’s happening. Or don’t you think he deserves to know what’s happening?” Kai suggests.
“Dean is busy over there, and I don’t want to disturb him with this. Besides, I’m the one that’s still going to pass judgment when the time is right, so I don’t think there’s a need to send words to him,” He replies, and Kai nods in agreement.
“I understand how you feel. But I want you to be careful when making this decision. If you need anything, I’ll be here to help you,” Kai pats his shoulders and ambles out of the garden.
“Guards!!” He roars and two guards rush in hurriedly.
“My lord,” They both bow.
“Get me Madam Leila,” He instructs and strides out of the garden afterward, while the guards walk away to deliver his message.
A few minutes later in his chambers.
He sits comfortably on his armchair, reading a book when a knock sound on the door.
“Leila, my lord,” A feminine voice sounds from outside, and after a few minutes he finally ushers her in. The door opens slightly, and Madam Leila walks in elegantly.
“Greetings, my lord. You sent for me,” She bows politely.
“Have you noticed anything about that young lady since these days?” He questions and Leila pull a puzzled and surprised look, wondering where the question is coming from.
“Not at all, my lord,” She replies, regardless of her confusion.
“Alright. I want you to keep your eyes on her. Let me know if you find anything unusual with her. Send her to my chamber on your way out,” He commands, and she bows.
“I’ll do just that, my lord,” As much as she wants to question him, she chooses to mind her business and do exactly what she was asked to do. Turning around, she strides to the door and exits the room.
A few minutes later, a knock sounds on the door again and he ushers the person in. The door opens, and Cassie walks in. She looks like she’d just seen a ghost.
“Greetings, master,” She bows slightly and greets him while he just stares at her like he’s trying to see through her.
“Who are you?” He asks as though he’s confused and doesn’t recognize her again. She blinks her eyes, trying to understand what he’s talking about.
“I… I don’t understand, master…”
“Who is your father?” He cuts her off, and she raises her gaze to meet his deadly eyes…
