Chapter 136 The Mark
GOLD PACK
Jovy hissed to herself as she rolled in bed feeling uncomfortable, her emotions were mixed and she could not tell which exactly was at the forefront. Her insides tingled all the way through the entire night after Logan left. He had taken so much from her and she felt like world’s dumbest fool to let him make a fool of her.
At the thought of him the mark on her neck tingled. She would have thought the sex was just one of her wild imagination but the mark reminded her of the awful moment that she wasn’t suppose to let happen. Tears trailed down her eyes onto the pillow, her engagement with Xavier was today and her mood was in the ruin. She couldn’t imagine looking Xavier in the eye after having sex with her ex-husband and there was no way she can mention his name after swearing her past into secrecy. It was more annoying to think of considering how to much she had enjoyed every bit of it. Jovy felt dirty.
The constant ringing of her phone brought her back to the present. Sniffing, she stretched her hand to get her phone to see that it was Amelia calling. Jovy wiped her tears as she picked the call.
‘Hey there new bride.’ Amelia sang on the other line.
A small smile played on Jovy’s lips. ‘Hey you too, how are you doing?’
‘I am fine. I hope you are too? How are you feeling today?’
The tears were back again and Jovy wished she could tell the truth but she knows better than to throw herself under the bus. She cleared her throat, acting normal.
‘I won’t say totally calm. But I can admit to being happy that I will be settling with someone who I care for and he cares for me back.’
‘I am happy you are finally settling for real this time. I know you might be worried about Arlo and Anastasia’s doubts but it’s important that you follow your heart. We might be your most go to persons but it doesn’t mean we are always right.’
Jovy nodded. ‘Yeah, I guess so. I needed to hear that, thank you so much Amelia. Tell me, how is your mom?’
There was a brief silence. ‘Well she should be fine wherever she is. I sent her packing.’
Jovy gasped out. ‘Why?’
‘Jovy, I can only try my best as a dutiful daughter but nothing can ever be enough for this woman. I have provided her with enough money that I think would last her for sometime. She is an adult and would be fine in the end.’
‘I’m sorry you have to be subjected to this sort of life.’
‘Nah, it doesn’t worry me a bit. I am fine. Alright, girl. I have got to go now, almost late for my shift. I will call you later tonight, that is if you aren’t all exhausted.’ She taunted.
Jovy laughed before hanging up. She had felt relieved a bit but was back with being saddled with the thought. She was surprised to see that it was past noon and no one had thought to come get her. Fear gripped her on the thought that they might know about what had happened with her.
As if on cue, the door burst open letting a happy Nadia in and three of the pack house maids. Jovy sat up abruptly and pulled her cloth further to her neck to hide the mark.
“Good morning, aunt.” She forced a smile on her face.
Nadia beamed. “Hello there my darling Luna. Isn’t today a happy day?”
Jovy couldn’t hold back the chuckle. “Of course it is.”
“Finally, I will watch you and Xavier become one. I hope you had enough beauty sleep, you had returned really late last night. He was gentlemanly enough to not bother you. The dresses for you to pick from are here but this appears to be my choice.” Nadia grinned, ushering in the royal stylist.
Two people pushed in the dresser that had several shiny, expensive dresses hung on them. Nadia picked out the dress she was talking about. Long slit, off shouldered silver dress that would make anyone look like an angel in it. However at the reminder of the sore mark on her neck, Jovy shook her head repeatedly.
“I don’t think I want to wear that.” Jovy said.
Nadia pouted. “Why? It looks beautiful.”
“I know Aunt, but I will like something with more of a long sleeve and fitting. That should do.” She responded with a stiff smile.
Sighing into resolve, Nadia eventually picked out a long sleeved, turtle neck dress with a long slit that would show off Jovy’s perfect legs. “This should do.” Nadia said.
“Yeah.” Jovy muttered.
Jovy didn’t look bad in the dress either and when Xavier saw her, the urge to have her squirming underneath him filled his mind all through the engagement program.
Jovy was most bored all through the engagement even though it wasn’t much of a ceremony aside introducing themselves to the pack and the media. Exchanging rings, making a toast to a fruitful relationship and acknowledging every important person that attended. Through it all she was losing her mind. It was worse because none of her friend not even her cousin was around. She felt all alone.
All through the time, Xavier kept his arm around her waist whenever they get close to each other. At every contact, her heart skipped a beat and it felt like she would pass out if not careful. Xavier felt the stiffness in Jovy’s movement compared to how relaxed she had been in his arms few days ago. He wondered if she wasn’t comfortable with the people swarming her. His joy was unlimited cause with every step taken he gets closer to his goal which is the topmost survival for him.
Pulling her to the side, he whispered in her ears. “Are you okay? What’s wrong? Aren’t you feeling well?” He questioned frantically.
Jovy felt ashamed of herself and worried all of her secrets will burst into open if she dared to look him in the eye. Jovy swallowed hard as she bowed her head. “Yes, I think I might be experiencing a light headache. I don’t know if I can actually rest back in my room.”
Xavier hummed looking around the room. “I think you should. I would cover up for you and see you later when everyone is gone.”
She felt glad that he didn’t question her much. Escaping to the room, Jovy stared at herself in the mirror and a rush of hatred sprung up inside of her against Logan. He must have been hellbent on humiliating her. For every normal individual, losing most of your assets and future financial plan should have brought them to their knees but it appears Logan cares nothing about that but his ego.
Clenching her fist really hard, she seethed her teeth wishing Logan was in front of her and she could pluck out his eyes. She slapped the side of her head in frustration, her weakness and inability to stand firm in her decisions is the only reason Logan could take advantage of her. One would think the money and power she owns would help her become really solid in her decision making. Instead, at the sight of her first love and life tormentor her legs went practically weak. It was a disgraceful sight to see.
Moving to the bed, she curled up and used the duvet to cover herself. Her eyes watered yet again, they weren’t from pain but that of extreme anger. Her heart jolted at the thought of Xavier coming into the room to meet her at night. The next thing to do after their engagement is to mate and provide a solidifying leadership in the pack.
However, there was no way she would bring herself to be touched by Xavier. Despite how much time she had spent in the bathroom to get rid of Logan’s smell and touch, it seems like it sank into her pores and has no intention of disappearing.
Jovy feared anyone else can smell it on her. Yanking the duvet off her body, she ran to the door and locked it firmly behind. Her life was no doubt a solid mess.
