Chapter 134 The Turf
GOLD PACK
Xavier had a proud grin on his face as he sipped his wine in delight, relaxing by the balcony and watching the stars in the dark sky. It appears to be a goodnight for a long run in the woods but he would rather laze out and do a star bath if there is anything like that. He should have never doubted the process from the beginning. He had put in too much work and established an immeasurable love for him in the minds of those that mattered.
Soon enough he would be referred to as the Alpha and get to dispose anyone who isn’t of use to him. Maybe, just maybe a part of himself might start to truly like Jovy and that is only if she doesn’t make life difficult for him. But then his baby Savannah would always come first. Aside that, Xavier doesn’t think there is anything else for him to worry about when it comes to getting his most cherished goal.
Still marveling in his thoughts, the door to his room flung open. He cursed lightly under his breath. The mistake he always makes is forget to close the door behind him when he enters the room. From the smell and the continuous hissing he knows the intruder was nobody else by Savannah.
“You bastard!” She flung her bag at him.
Xavier sat down unshaken not turning around to look at her. He knows not paying her any mind would make her rage more but he was too at peace to let her ruin the moment for him.
“Xavier!” Savannah yelled into the silent night.
“Keep your fucking voice down!” He whispered, still maintaining his position.
Fuming, she stormed his front pushing the bottle of wine to the ground. He didn’t worry much about anyone hearing because his portion of the house is a bit detached from the back rest. All the same, it is expected of Savannah to act sane. However, her attitude didn’t come as a surprise to Xavier.
Counting her breath, she glared hard at him. “When were you going to tell me that you proposed to her?!”
He clicked his tongue. “How fast news travels. It was just last night, I would have thought some people would be able to keep their mouth shut. But then, what’s there to worry about when it is a thing of joy. It’s nice you found out eventually.”
Savannah’s lower lip trembled, she would never get used to having Xavier act cold towards her. Even when the odds were against him, he had always stood by her and made it a point of duty to protect her, not missing every opportunity to proclaim his love to her. His recent attitude makes her worried that he might dump her.
“Baby, this is all a joke right?” She sobbed.
Xavier rolled his eyes, downing the last bit of the wine. His eyes sorrowfully sweeping past the shattered bottle on the floor. It was one of his favorite wine. “What do you want?” He uttered coldly
Savannah gasped out. She swallowed her dry spit almost immediately as she knelt in front of him. “Xavier, baby, what did I do wrong? Why are you going off on me all of a sudden, baby? Why are you so different? What did she give to you?”
He tried to look away but couldn’t help it. Savannah holds a large part of his heart and seeing her cry hurts him more than it hurts her. Swallowing his pride, Xavier pulled her up to sit on his laps and he wiped her tears.
“I’m sorry, mama. I didn’t mean to act that way. I really don’t like it when you act oblivious to the things I do. We have had countless arguments over this same issue and I am tired of going back and forth with you.”
Savannah sniffed. She stared straight into his eyes. “But you didn’t tell me you were going to engage her and also make a fuss about it. You even got her an expensive ring. You still haven’t asked me to be your wife.”
“Listen, baby, it’s nothing serious. This is all for the Alpha position, I promise. I love you, mama. You mean the most to me but you do know how much I want this spot. It’s everything and I can liberate your family from being degraded. I just need you to be really patient with me. The tabloids would say whatever they want to sell and I needed them to do so by purchasing an expensive engagement ring.”
“Hmm.” She hummed absentmindedly
Xavier laughed to himself, lifting her up bridal style into the room and he placed her gently on the bed. He moved around, pulled the drawer opened and brought out a ring box. Savannah sat up abruptly as he went down on his knees and opened the box. A diamond ring shone in the moon lit room and announced itself.
Savannah gasped, placing a hand over her mouth. “You bought this for me?”
“What did you think, baby? That I was going to gift her something that nice and leave you out of it? You deserve better than she would. Here you go my lady, be my forever.” He smiled brightly at her.
Giggling loudly, Savannah let him wear it on her finger while mumbling yes consistently. “I love you baby.” She bent low to kiss him.
Xavier smiled as he took her lips in his mouth. “I love you more, heartbeat. Don’t you ever doubt my love for you.” He mused as he leaned into her.
Their romance got cut short by Xavier’s phone ringing out loudly. Savannah raised a brow. “Who can it be at this time of the night?”
Not responding to her, he stood up to check his phone. Jovy was calling but it soon went off. Seeing he took time to pick his call, she dropped a message for him to see her in her room urgently. From the look on his face, Savannah didn’t bother asking who it was.
He walked back to her and kissed her quickly, “Don’t go anywhere, baby. Wait right here for me and when I return I hope you will be laying naked cause I would love to eat you up.” Xavier whispered with a mischievous smirk on before leaving the room. Savannah blushed hard, the exact reaction he was expecting. He knows just what to do to make her forget her anger.
Jovy paced the room back and forth as she awaited Xavier’s entry. It is only a few days to their engagement and something stays heavy on her mind. One thing she has learnt growing up is to not hide things from one’s future partner. Aside hiding the truth about her past relationship which she didn’t think was necessary to be up for discussion, she couldn’t keep the rest to herself any longer. Also she was feeling generous over her recent attack on Logan’s investments.
Through the connections of Rebecca, they got a confidential information on embezzlement and all other criminal charges amongst half of the companies Logan invested in. And as the duty of the business laws, the companies got their fall just as Jovy had expected and they seized to exist swallowing up all of Logan’s years of hard work. Next time he would learn to be vigilant.
“You called for me, Jovy.” Xavier said by the door which was opened. They were forbidden to get close to each other until they at least get engaged in front of the pack council and distinguished members of the pack.
Being Luna, it is expected of Jovy to act right and lead by example but considering how horny she had become as of late, it would have been nice to have him next to her.
“Please, come in Xavier. I am sorry for calling you out this late, considering how busy your day was. I just need to talk to you.”
“It’s alright. It must be important if you call for me.” He smiled.
“I will make it quick, I just want you to know that I appreciate you for being really good to me and making my journey easy so far. Thanks for being considerate. For that I have a gift for you. I am just really shy that I doubt if I would have the guts to give it to you during the day.” Smiling at him, she moved to the closet where her safe was and she pressed in the code.
Xavier’s eyes caught sight of the Moon Stone. When she turned around he took his eyes off in a hurry.
“Here.” Jovy beamed at him as she handed over a file to him. “The document contains a signed agreement of a turf ownership. And I want to give it to you to help develop it and we both get to share the gains equally. Help plan it judiciously.”
Xavier stared in shock. “You are trusting me with this?”
“Yes.” Jovy said it a bit loudly.
Jovy tried to assure herself. She wasn’t certain if she is making the right decision but somehow she felt the need to gain Xavier’s confidence in her. Her friend and cousin would really be disappointed which is why she wouldn’t tell them. Her heart tells her Xavier deserves to be cared for, considering how sweet he is and no one has to know.
“I won’t let you down, thanks for trusting me.” He moved close to her and wrapped his arms around her waist for a kiss. Jovy moaned feeling deprived.
To avoid going further when he remembered Savannah waiting up for him, Xavier cut the kiss short and said his goodnight to her. The rest of the month was made for him already. He couldn’t wait to have himself swimming in the juices Savannah has to squeeze out.
