Chapter 131 The Confident Luna
GOLD PACK
Jovy thought everything was under control until it was about forty minutes for the meeting to begin and her nerve was a wreck and with trembling hands she dialed Alice.
‘I am dead scared, Alice. What…what…what if words fail me?’ She stuttered into the receiver.
‘Breath. Inhale and exhale.’ Alice said.
Jovy did as told. ‘I don’t know what I might do, Alice. What if I become scared when I see him or he gets to intimidate me like he usually does?’ She panicked. It dawned on her a bit too late that she was scared to death of the man in question.
‘Jovy!’ Alice bellowed, piercing her eardrum. ‘Listen to me! You no longer owe that bastard anything! Neither does he have any form of control over you. You are in charge now and you control empires and people just like him. Way better if I might add. Do not let him see through you, mask your emotions for as long as you can and if it requires seizing your breath till the damn meeting is over then do so. Do not let anyone trample on you ever again, Jovy. Don’t give anyone that chance ever. Let him know who the boss is!’
Jovy breathed in and out heavily. ‘Oh thanks for this Alice, I feel better.’
‘And if you don’t, you should smoke some weed.’ She joked.
Jovy cackled. ‘Shut up. I am a Luna, I should lead by example.’
‘Pardon me your majesty.’ She taunted.
‘I have to go now, Alice. I will talk to you later. Let this bad bitch get ready to teach an undeserving Lycan a lesson!’
‘That’s my girl! Make me proud!’
The cheer from Alice had her back to her confident self. She texted Rebecca to get the study ready for the meeting and keep the men seated. She was certain Kyrian would come with Logan.
“Wow!” Kyrian exclaimed as they stepped foot in the foyer of the pack house. “When people talk about how wealthy the Gold pack Alpha family are, I didn’t think it would be this luxurious. Damn! They have got money!” He whistled.
Logan hissed to himself, he doesn’t give a care about whatever they own. He had also worked his butt off to be able to climb the ladder to the top. He had promised himself to never get swayed by other people’s wealth. Logan had been grumpy since daybreak and he didn’t see any reason why they had to arrive so early to a meeting that wouldn’t hold until evening.
However, Logan knew he had pushed Kyrian to his limits and the least he can do to compensate his friend for keeping up with him despite his awful attitude is to listen to whatever he says for the time being.
Rebecca walked towards them. “Welcome to Gold Pack, please come with me.”
Logan and Kyrian followed the old lady behind without saying a word. As his eyes scanned the space, Logan couldn’t help but admit to Kyrian’s observation. The entire space reeked of money. He could almost bet some of the furnitures were made with Gold. The look of the pack house made them deserving of their name the GOLD PACK.
When Rebecca opened the door to the study, Logan was extremely eager to set his eyes on the bitch that had him tossed around all because of an inheritance she didn’t work for. After sitting for about ten minutes and the Luna had still not arrived, it got on Logan’s nerves and he wasn’t having it at all.
“It’s past five. We have other things to do.” Logan whispered to Kyrian.
Kyrian whispered back. “You say what?”
“We have other things to do.” He repeated.
“Like what? Beg on the streets? Or open an only fans account? If you can’t do any of that, just stay quiet.” Kyrian shunned him.
Logan bit hard on his tongue wishing he could punch Kyrian’s face. However, it isn’t his friends fault. He blamed it all on the Luna witch who is insistent on making his life miserable. Logan knew he was definitely going to speak his mind when the Luna enters.
“The least she could have done is send in a word that she would be late.” He grumbled.
“Pardon me, you must have been waiting for so long.” Jovy’s voice resounded in the entire room.
They turned their heads to look back at her. She almost squealed in delight at the shocked look on their faces.
“Jovy?” Logan called in a soft distant tone.
Practicing as she had envisioned in her head, Jovy acted oblivious to how they stared at her. Even though Kyrian had been good to her and he deserves to be acknowledged, she kept her face and shoulder up. Her inside churned at the sight of Logan and she wasn’t certain if it was butterflies or her nerves playing tricks on her. A sudden cold breeze blew past her and Jovy had to hold her knee cap tightly to keep it from shaking rigorously.
“Welcome, Alpha Logan and Beta Kyrian. I apologize for keeping you waiting.” When they didn’t say anything but stare in shock, she added. “So shall we discuss on the reason we are here?”
Logan blinked severally still doubting his vision. How can Jovy be the only daughter of the late Alpha Marcel? He has known Marcel for more than a decade and there had never been a time when he mentioned having a daughter or saying her name. A closer look at her and he could sight the resemblance now.
Logan clenched his fist tightly, to think he had been brooding over the loss of her not knowing she was having the time of her life. It’s no surprise she was quick to withdraw the shares. Kyrian was lost of words and he kept nudging Logan to say something to save the both of them from a lifetime embarrassment but he was just as taken aback as him.
“You?” Logan finally blurted, trying to keep himself from stuttering. “How did you get here?”
Jovy bit hard on her lips as she blamed herself for letting his appearance cause her to almost falter. She shrugged her shoulder and gestured for Rebecca to leave.
“Can you please excuse us, Beta Kyrian?” She requested with a straight face. Kyrian nodded his head repeatedly, words still failing him.
“How did I get here? You look shocked?” Jovy said when it was just the both of them.
Logan leaned back into the chair to have a clear look of her. She looked more radiant than he last remembered, her skin glowed like that of a new born and his hand itched to caress it.
“How did you become the Luna?”
She kissed her teeth. “I don’t think that should be the question to ask? If I were you I would ask how far I intend to go in teaching you a deserved lesson.”
Logan sat up at her words. “Oh, so you withdrawing your shares was intentional.”
Jovy laughed dryly ignoring the mushy feeling causing her toes to curl. He still had that great effect on her. “Who do you think bought that turf you are so proud of? You didn’t think it had anything to do with the Gold Pack Luna?” She pouted.
Anger crossed his face immediately. “I don’t care whatever history is between us, Jovy. You wouldn’t mess with my hard work. You weren’t even old enough to wear your own clothes when I started building me an empire.”
She scoffed. “Well tell that to anyone who wishes to listen. How dare you try to justify yourself?”
“And how dumb minded are you to involve your personal interest in an actual business?”
“That exactly is how I intend to play. Call it childish as much as you want, it still won’t change the fact that I have more power and money to do whatever it is I want to do to you.”
Logan snickered. “Really? You have gotten a little chance at power and money and you are already so full of yourself. Who the fuck do you think you are?!” He seethed his teeth in anger.
Giving him a mischievous look, enjoying how much she was getting on his nerves. Jovy lowered her tone to enable a resounding warning. “You know, all my life I never thought I would amount to anything. It was worse because I have a latent wolf. I blamed your attitude on the fact that maybe I wasn’t enough or soothing to you but you could have acted better by giving two cent about my health. Instead you were more concerned about your deals and contracts to sign. Now let’s see how you live without them now.”
“You sound spiteful.” He muttered, uncertain as to what to say.
“Oh, you haven’t really seen me act spiteful. Wait till I am done ruining you.” She gritted.
“Jovy, I doubt if you are up to this trouble you are intending to cause.”
“Trust me, baby. I have got every nerve within me to deal with you mercilessly. If not for anything, but for the death of my child.” She tried not to let tears form at the corners of her eyes at the memories that clouded her mind’s eyes.
“How is that my fault? You lost it because your belly couldn’t hold down a child!”
“You bastard!” Jovy slammed her hands on the table, her eyes laced with unshed tears. “Have you forgotten the conditions you gave me?! Like you ever wanted it in the first place. It was always about you. I am so not backing out until I ruin you.”
“I could sue you for all of this threats.”
“Go ahead, what evidence do you have? It’s not like I took anything away from you forcefully. I just don’t think you are worth working with.”
He gritted, holding onto the chair handle tightly. “What do you know about work ethics? How dare you demean my company?”
She looked unfazed. “I already said a piece of my mind. It’s obvious I made the right decision withdrawing my shares before I get roped into your pathetic lifestyle. You can go now, Mr Logan Odell. It was nice seeing you again.”
Logan felt like he had been slapped hard on his face. The confidence Jovy oozed was entirely new to him. He had never thought a day would come when she would be able to look in his face and stand up to him. Even if the day did come, he didn’t expect it would come in a way where she is superior to him, money and power wise.
“Do you expect to see me fall to the ground and beg you?”
A short laugh escaped her lips. “No, Logan, no, I don’t expect you to kneel and beg me cause you are too full of yourself to resolve to that. I would be worried for my life if you ever did. There is no use fighting it, I will make sure you never get to escape my wrath.”
Logan couldn’t hold back his temper. “You will regret this. I will make you regret ever messing with me!” He threatened, standing up in his full glory, hovering over her.
Jovy stood her ground as she swallowed hard. There was no doubt he was still intimidating despite being pushed to a corner. “Get out of my home, Logan. I don’t think we have any other thing to discuss. There is no way I am going to invest back in your company. Go ahead and do your worse.” She said, mentally high-fiving herself for doing a great job so far.
Logan clenched his fists. Seeing that there was no use to keep talking he stormed out of the office. Kyrian stared at his receding back in shock confused as to where to go. But after a long minute he went after Logan.
Jovy breathed out like someone who was almost drowning and got saved at the last minute. She didn’t realize her breath had been held out for that long. Her friends would be proud of her for maintaining her stance against the bully. If she had given out a hint of emotion, Logan would have definitely taken advantage of her just like always. She was certain this time around that nothing was going to stop her from bringing him to the ground.
Rebecca rushed into the study. “Are you alright, Luna? Alpha Logan just stormed out in anger.”
Jovy squared her shoulders after recovering herself. “It’s obvious he isn’t worth the trouble and we don’t have to regret taking out our investment. We don’t want people who would bring shame to the company through their uncultured attitude. Thanks for today, Rebecca. You can leave. And I am sorry for keeping you waiting.”
Rebecca bowed lightly. “I am always at your service, Luna. I will take my leave now. Do have a goodnight rest.” She exited the study.
And as told, Jovy promised herself to have a good night rest devoid of any expected nightmares.
