Chapter 120 She is paranoid
GOLD PACK
The knock on the door startled Jovy and her hands hung in the air at who it might be. It was quite late in the night and she wasn’t expecting anyone. Aside that, there has never been a time she received a visitor at such late hour. Walking towards the door with caution, she peeped through the door hole and surprised to see Amelia. She opened the door in a hurry.
“Amelia.” Jovy whispered. Amelia looked disheveled, her eye bags puffed up with tears lacing her red eyes. “Please come in.” She offered.
Locking the door behind her, Jovy ushered Amelia to sit down while she rushed to the kitchen to pour out a hot cup of chocolate which she had meticulously taken time out to prepare for desert. The cold was biting hard outside and Amelia didn’t have a jacket on.
“Here, drink this.” She urged, handing her the cup.
Amelia wrapped her cold hands around the cup and sipped the hot chocolate. She smacked her lips softly. “This tastes really good.” She sniffed.
“Thank you.” Jovy muttered turning up the heater before she returned to the couch. “I hope that makes you feel better?”
“Yes it does, thank you so much.” Amelia sniffed. “And I am sorry for barging in on you. I just didn’t have anywhere else to go.”
Jovy’s eyes trailed her face, she looked like someone who had been deprived of sleep for days. They haven’t seen much of each other because of Jovy’s preparation to move to the pack house. She had tried stalling, the fear of what her life might eventually become made her want to cower into her comfort zone but Alice and Arlo wouldn’t hear of such cowardice. With no other choice left, she had resolved to packing the few things she owned and thought worthy enough to be part of such luxurious space.
Jovy sighed when her mind returned to the present. “What’s wrong, Amelia?”
Amelia sighed heavily, placing the cup on the table. Her eyes watered as she stared at the wall blankly. Her life hasn’t been balanced for the past one week. It wasn’t just Jovy who reconciled with her father’s family, she had eventually met hers too. However, it didn’t go exactly as she had envisioned.
“You know, Jovy. I envy you.” She admitted. Jovy kept quiet not wanting distract her. “I want to believe you have a strong heart that I can never possess. Despite everything that I try to overlook as regards my mother, she still does everything to hurt me and make me feel miserable. Almost two weeks now, I returned home to find my mom surrounded by designer bags and different gift bags. Only to discover they had been sent by my father.”
“Alpha Adrian?”
“Yes, that name in particular. I told her off and warned her to not take me for a fool that I can be bought over easily. I threatened her to let me meet my said father physically or she would be thrown out of my house. I think she got the memo and called him over, he seems eager to meet me too. We got talking and he admitted to not letting me known to the world because he wasn’t certain my mom was the person he would like to spend his whole life with even though he ended up with the wrongest person.” She sniffed.
Jovy remained quiet, she was sensitive enough to know the moment was tough on Amelia and didn’t try to say anything. She only rubbed at her back after going to search for tissue.
“His intention to find me wasn’t to come live with him or remain in actual close contact. He only wants me to be aware of him and also to meet me properly for the first time. The bastard had the audacity to say, he wants his face and memory to linger on in my head when he does die.”
Jovy made a huff sound from the depth of her belly. Amelia rolled her eyes. “You can laugh, Alice and Arlo would have done the same thing.”
Jovy in her usual respectful state, she couldn’t find it in herself to laugh. “Ignore me, Amelia. I’m really sorry.”
“It’s really not hard to have suicidal thoughts when you have two selfish individuals in your life as parents.” She let out a snort. “I hate their guts so much.”
“Don’t talk rashly like that. I do know you are pissed at the moment but you would have to come to terms with it eventually.”
“I do know that but it feels better talking it out this way.” Her eyes scanned the room. “You are almost done packing?”
“I haven’t done much but it’s not much at the same time.” Jovy said with a shrug.
Amelia leaned into the couch, folding her legs underneath her thighs. “How are you feeling?”
“Ok, I guess.”
“No. I don’t think you get the question I am asking you. How exactly are you feeling right now?”
Tears pricked at the back of her eyes, Jovy had been trying to hold herself together but it wasn’t as easy as she thought. Intertwining her fingers, she inhaled deeply and exhaled.
“I am trying my best to stay together, Amelia. However, I am so scared of what might become of me. If I had my way I would run off to an unknown place. At the same time, the Moon Goddess definitely knew this would be my journey path. I am sorry if this discussion would make you feel uncomfortable. But living with you, your mom and dad not to forget how awful Logan had treated me, it makes me very paranoid and I don’t know how this might end for me.”
Amelia did feel the guilt tug at her heart. She stared at Jovy with the purest emotion she could muster. “I know you might argue it, but I regret everything that I did to you and it still haunts me up till date. I guess I do deserve it. However, this is different cause it is your birthright and there is no way anyone can hold you back down like we and Logan did. Now, you are financially comfortable to let yourself loose of anyone’s chain. This house would always wait for you. I would ensure to clean it from time to time. Whenever you feel uncomfortable, do not hesitate to return and we would always be here for you.”
The tears Jovy had been holding back so bad flowed uncontrollably. She didn’t realize just how much hurt she feels inside of her. It had been such a wild journey but she made it through. She leaned into Amelia’s outstretched hands.
“Thank you so much, Amelia. I am really grateful.”
“We are sisters, Jovy.” She said with a cracked voice, trying hard to swallow her tears.
“I love you.” Jovy croaked.
“I love you too.” Amelia responded as they both cried in each other’s arms.
