Chapter 72 I am not a kid
MIDNIGHT PACK: FINLAY HIGH SCHOOL
Jovy couldn’t believe her eyes at the message as it was so surreal that Logan of all people would text her. Even though the message was somewhat disregarding of the receiver, she still didn’t mind.
Alice took a closer look at her best friend wondering what has gotten her so riled up. “Are you okay?”
Jerking from her seat, Jovy had been so engrossed in staring at her phone that she had forgotten Alice was still seated in front of her.
“Why are you staring at your phone like that? Is there something I need to know?” Alice gave her a skeptical look.
“Oh no. You really don’t have to worry.” Jovy responded as she stood up in a hurry. “I am really uncomfortable at the moment and I would like to visit the ladies.”
Not waiting for her friend’s reply, Jovy went off after dropping her bag to avoid any suspicion. Alice glared at her receding back knowing she wasn’t exactly being sincere with her but decided to let it slide by waiting patiently for her to return.
Jovy increased her pace, keeping an eye on her back hoping fervently that Alice wouldn’t think twice to follow her. She wouldn’t be able to stand the look of disappointment Alice would be sure to have on her face. Heading out towards the exit, just when Jovy thought she had been able to make her escape, the one person she wouldn’t have ever prayed to collide with stood in her way.
Jovy took in a deep breath. “Amelia please leave my way.”
Amelia gave her a once over, feeling irritated all of a sudden. Every time she sets her eyes on Jovy it makes her feel very hateful as her beauty radiates without her trying at all. Despite everything Amelia and her mother tries to put Jovy through, it’s almost like she soars every time. And Amelia wished Jovy was the one in the sort of situation she found herself in with Jared.
“Can you move please?” Jovy repeated, feeling agitated with the fear that Logan might have probably left in anger. She definitely would never forgive her step sister if Logan leaves without seeing her.
Amelia kissed her teeth. “You really have become gutsy. Do you know how much days you have spent away from home and you are here parading around like you know something that we don’t?”
Jovy crossed her arms over her chest. “Why do you seem so concerned?”
Amelia scoffed. “Concerned? Why would I ever be? You are of no vital use to me Jovy, so don’t think too highly of yourself.”
“I guess I have some high standard than you do then.” Jovy bit back in anger.
Amelia was taken aback at Jovy’s reaction. “That’s very dumb of you to think you are any better than me.”
“I don’t care what you think about me. Just leave my way.”
Anger surged through Amelia at the attitude being dished at her. “You should be worried for yourself and scared that you angered dad. He isn’t finding it funny and I hope you still have your head on your neck by the time he is done with you.”
“What are you even talking about?” Jovy queried, her face giving off a confused stare.
Amelia let out a rough giggle. “Good to know you still have some ounce of fear in you.” She moved out of the way while she flipped her hair and walked away. “Enjoy your freedom while it lasts.” She said loudly.
Deciding to ignore whatever crazy shit Amelia just said to her, Jovy hurried her way out of hallway to the park trying to find Logan’s car. She sent a text on her phone rapidly.
‘Where are you?’
‘Come forward.’
Jovy looked straight ahead and then she sighted his car with the windows winded down. She took in a deep breath as she made her way stealthily towards him. Logan stared rigidly, seeing her after what seem like a long time made him very conscious of his cock state. He had woken up with a resolve to see her not caring if he would be disrupting her studies or not.
Initially he had no idea what high school she attended, but he had taken it upon himself to threaten Ol’Joe into giving him the school address. He could have called her but that wasn’t his thing.
His eyes were devoid of any emotions as Jovy got closer to him and something inside of her could tell whatever he came for wouldn’t be exactly pleasing. But her treacherous heart seems happy at seeing him than being bothered of what is to become of her.
“Get in the car.” Logan’s voice boomed the moment she got close to the car.
Like the obedient servant she is, Jovy got into the car without saying a word. Putting the car on ignition, Logan backed out of the parking lot and drove down the road without saying a word to her.
Alice watched from afar as the car drove off and she gritted her teeth while balling her hands in anger. There was no way Jovy was in her sane mind with the way she goes after a man who is not just a total stranger but an asshole too. Alice wished she could do something to help her friend out and save her from herself. At this point, it was was obvious Jovy has no idea what she was doing to herself.
Searching her bag, Alice pulled out her phone and dialed Jovy’s line. Biting on her lips hard, she hoped Jovy wouldn’t act crazy and drop the call on her. It took her by surprise when she did pick.
‘Can we talk about this later, Alice?’
Jovy whispered on the other line like she didn’t want to say anything that might annoy the one she is with and her attitude only made Alice angry the more.
‘If you really don’t want me to constitute a nuisance right this moment, tell that bastard to turn around and bring you the hell back to school!’ Alice yelled as she stomped her feet. ‘That man cares nothing about you! Since you met him all you have done is miss classes and school! This is so unlike you, Jovy!’
‘Please.’ Her voice sounded strained.
‘Don’t make me come find you, Jovy. I would raise false alarm that you have been kidnapped, don’t mess with me.’
‘Stop this Alice!’ Jovy’s voice boomed through the receiver. ”I am not a kid! Do you understand that? I would do what pleases me and don’t make it seem like it’s a total bad thing please!’
Alice’s eye twitched, she had not expected the outburst. ‘Have you gone mad? Did you just raise your voice at me?’ She could hear Jovy sigh like she was helpless.
‘Please try to understand me, Alice. Please.’ Jovy said, her voice becoming more distant from the speaker.
‘How do you expect me to understand this sort of madness? What exactly is there to understand?’ Alice could sense some kind of grumbling in the background and almost a faint like voice of Jovy saying sorry. ‘You dumbass! What are you begging him for?’
Alice was just about to lose her mind, just when she thought Jovy gave a damn about what she thought but the line went dead. Alice stared at her phone screen in disbelief and she couldn’t believe her eyes.
“Did she just do that?” She said loudly to no one in particular.
Alice promised herself to detach away from anything that had to do with Jovy and her mysterious found love. She stormed back into the school with a decision that they should both rot in hell.
