Chapter 71 Come outside
MIDNIGHT PACK: FINLAY HIGH SCHOOL
Alice gave Jovy a hard pat on the back as they entered the school cafeteria. Jovy’s shoulder had been tensed all morning even when Alice had assured her they weren’t going to get any form of query or detention. It was lunchtime and she still stood rigid.
“Can you stop acting so weird? I would really have to find the pool and push you in it. Despite thinking we would get in trouble yesterday, here we are fine with no one sanctioning us.” Alice said.
Jovy sighed as she looked around the cafeteria, everyone did go about their business like they do usually but it was beyond that. Definitely her father would have heard of her return and he still hadn’t made an attempt to find her or drag her down to the house. It made her worried, thoughts of her being disowned and ending up homeless made her really scared. To cap it all she had, had a terrible nightmare that almost consumed her and pushed her into total darkness. Her mood that morning wasn’t just about the detention, but the fear of something that was about to happen to her that she can’t really tell.
Kissing her teeth, Alice pulled Jovy into an empty seat and made a sign to her to not get up. As she went to order food, still keeping a close eye on her friend, she unintentionally bumped into Amelia and behind her were her handbags all trying to keep a straight face.
“You all really got nothing on me, your faces looking like overcooked pancakes.” Alice muttered as she laughed at her own words.
“You must really think you are smart and good with words huh?” Amelia threw back at her, looking unfazed.
She had, had a long talk with her mother the night before and Amelia had got to learn about some of her mother exploits just to get to where they stood at the moment. She also had to grow a resilient and unconcerned attitude to help her survive. This was why she had the guts to face Alice despite knowing she wouldn’t be quiet about what transpired the day before.
“I see you got more bruises. Did you engage in a slap contest?” Alice teased as she could see through the heavy make up on Amelia’s face.
Amelia patted her cheek in reaction, deciding that her time wasn’t worth wasting on Alice so she walked away with her attached strings all walking behind her. Alice laughed hard, even after her order she still couldn’t get over it and still giggled till she returned to her friend.
“Did you see that?” Alice asked as she placed a yoghurt pack and sandwich in front of Jovy. “I just thought you wouldn’t want to eat anything heavy.” She pointed at the meal.
Jovy mouthed a thank you as she opened the yoghurt pack cap. “What are you talking about?”
“I have a feeling Amelia got the beating of her life yesterday from her mother.”
“How would you know that? I have never seen Ava get angry at her daughter before.”
“Well, there is always a start for something. Mom told me this morning while you got dressed upstairs, that Ava had come to confront her about me assaulting her daughter and wasn’t at all pleased when she heard about her involvement with my dad.”
“That sounds tough.”
“Really tough indeed. So tell me, I know you have a whole lot on your mind I expect you to spill now. It’s why I got you a cold yoghurt.”
Jovy threw her a side glare. “You are so unrelenting.”
Alice grinned widely. “I try my very best. So, what’s up with you?”
“About my mom…”
Alice interrupted her. “Before you go further, I did catch you eavesdropping on us yesterday.” She wiggled her brows.
Jovy gasped. “I promise it wasn’t intentional…the door was just a bit open. How did you know?”
“My wolf sniffs out people’s presence. I didn’t need to see you to know you were hovering around. Now, I am all ears. What about your mom?”
Feeling uneasy, Jovy played with her yogurt. “I am just wondering if there is something else I should know aside all that I heard yesterday.”
“You have nothing to worry about baby. It’s all good. I know how much you wish she was here, but I must tell you, your mother was a good person through and through it all. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”
Jovy forced a smile on her face. “Thanks Alice…that felt relieving.”
“Anything for you baby. Now, what other thing is on your mind aside your mom and your dad not calling you back home?”
Jovy shifted uncomfortably at her words, she knew there was no way Alice would want to hear what she has to say. Moreover, Alice wouldn’t hesitate to show her disappointment, considering the pain and embarrassment Jovy herself has had to endure all because of a man who only cares about reaching his own orgasm. However, she couldn’t get her mind off him. Since the night she returned, Jovy wakes up feeling the urge to get fucked with her pussy all wet yearning for him. It appears very shameful but she couldn’t help to feel the way she was feeling.
“Say something Jovy.” Alice muttered amidst chewing of her food.
“It’s about him.” Jovy murmured in response.
Alice stared at her mouth agape. “You have got to be kidding me right this minute.” She snorted.
Alice couldn’t understand what exactly was running through Jovy’s mind and why she insists on torturing herself over a guy who cares nothing about her. Jovy has always been meek but seeing her act like a fool surprised her. Alice thought of ways to further explain to her how crazy she sounds but couldn’t come up with any words.
“I know what you are thinking…Alice.” Jovy tried to defend herself.
“Oh of course you know what I am thinking. How crazy can you get, Jovy? To think that I risked my life getting on the road to prevent you from catching a cold and this is all because you decided to go against your father and follow a strange man.” Alice paused to look around the cafeteria and she reduced her volume. “You really should get your head checked.”
Alice sounded frustrated while Jovy watched as she gritted her teeth in annoyance. There was nothing she could say that would sound convincing enough as to why she was punishing herself and worrying over someone who doesn’t care about her.
“I don’t know how to explain this Alice.” Jovy slouched in resolve.
Alice eyed her and hissed out. “How many times have we had this discussion, come on tell me? Do you want to end up miserable just like your step mom? Following other people’s men because you think that is the appropriate way to live.”
“Come on, Alice, he comes to me every time.”
“But you follow him like a lost puppy every damn time!” Alice banged the table in annoyance.
Jovy sniffed as tears welled up in her eyes. She really didn’t have any excuse as to her actions lately, it was uncalled for and unnecessary. At the same time, it was almost like her brain couldn’t let go of Logan’s image and it kept taunting her with it. They both got lost in their thoughts with each of their head bowed. Jovy could almost hear Alice’s teeth clattering together in anger. Alice always did that when she wasn’t pleased with something.
Jovy heard her phone message notification come on and she jolted up to search through her bag hoping it would be her father. When she pulled the phone out, she couldn’t explain the emotions that surged through her when she saw her caller app show the name Logan with a message attached to it.
‘Come outside.’ It read.
