Chapter 30 He likes this one
MYSTIC SHADOWS FORTRESS
Arlo paced to and fro in his bedroom. He stomped his feet on the floor like he would love to drill a hole in it with his foot. He wanted to punch through Logan’s well shaped nose so bad. If he wasn’t the Alpha and his uncle, it would have made sense to inflict some form of pain on his being. He hated the fact that Logan thought it was his place to decide who and who not to be with for him.
Grabbing a hold of his pillow, Arlo screamed loudly into it and the material muffled the sound. This couldn’t be happening to him. He wanted the approval of his two favorite persons aside his father so bad. He didn’t think twice to them having any objection since it had to do with his happiness.
Alpha Logan had never refused him anything before. Moreover, it wasn’t his right to tell him to leave Jovy. He tried to remember their conversation. Jovy had clearly told him she was single so it only meant that she had probably involved in a one night stand with the Alpha.
“That’s it. Yes…that should be it.” Arlo concocted. He was unmoved by the fact that Jovy and Logan have had something together. He doesn’t care. All he wanted is for Jovy to be part of him and that was it.
Arlo dumped himself on the bed and laid on his back with his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. Few minutes later, his phone rang and his heart skip a beat when he took it out of his pocket. The caller was the reason behind his reaction. It was Jovy.
Arlo picked up the call in a hurry. He grinned like he was handed an ice cream.
‘Hi Arlo.’ Her melodious voice seeped into the receiver.
‘Hey Jovy.’ Arlo replied. He sat up to rest his back against the bed frame.
‘I am so sorry for what happened the other time. My stepsister can be a whole lot.’ Jovy pleaded.
‘Oh, she is your step sister?’
‘Yes.’
‘It’s fine though I didn’t really put much mind to it. How are you doing?’
‘I am good. Thanks for today. How are you too?’
‘I am fine. And…’ He took a pause contemplating on asking her if she has met with his uncle Logan before.
‘Are you there?’ She asked, wondering why there was a long pause.
Arlo shook his head. ‘Yes…I am still here. I will get through to you soon. Do have a goodnight rest. And thanks for calling me.’
The call had ended abruptly and he hadn’t intended to do so but his heart ached a bit at the thought of her being with Logan and him still refusing to let Jovy go for him.
Logan getting angry over this issue seem like the most absurd thing he has ever heard of. Everyone knows Logan cares nothing about the women that ends up in his bed.
Arlo shut his eyes as he tried to drain out the conversation during dinner. His belly rumbled. The courtesy and love Arlo has for Logan was the only reason he had bit on his tongue to prevent from cursing him out for making him miss dinner. He had been looking out for the restaurant’s pasta for a while and had deprived himself of it till tonight and in order to spend sometime with his uncles.
“Such a waste!” Arlo murmured to himself as he stood up and motioned out of the bedroom. He headed to the kitchen.
The pent house he and Kyrian live in is one too many for the both of them but it was just fine by Arlo as he gets to throw parties whenever he likes to annoy Kyrian. There was enough space to gather around.
It was late and they had no live in chef. Arlo looked around the kitchen as he knew it was up to him to make himself some nice meal or he could just do the easiest by ordering something. He chose the latter cause the thought of whisking some burnt meal didn’t sound pleasing to him.
Arlo decided to go for any nice South Asia meal. So tapped on his phone quickly to order for some Korean dish. He smacked his lips at the colorful menu on the restaurant’s site. He motioned out of the kitchen and strolled to the living room to settle on a couch to watch a movie.
Arlo grabbed the remote, still trying to find his way around the long list of movies when Kyrian burst into the house looking like he was on the run or being chased by something.
Arlo raised a brow at him. “Did you see a ghost? Or Did run all the way here?”
Kyrian made a dramatic huff as he placed a hand on his chest. “I thought you were about to commit suicide or go wild or…something. So I had to run as fast as I could from the restaurant down here.”
Arlo gave him a once over. “You really think I would fall for that when you obviously had a good red velvet cake.”
Kyrian looked puzzled with his eyes almost popping out of their sockets. He faked a gasp and glanced through the living room like he was being caught red handed in a bad act. “Were you watching me?”
Arlo let out a snort as he looked away from him when he heard the doorbell. He stood up from the couch, walked to the door after snatching Kyrian’s wallet which he had in hand from him to pay the delivery guy.
“Thanks.” Arlo said to the delivery guy. He closed the door as he inhaled the lovely aroma of the meal.
“You didn’t just do that. Why are you such a ripper?!” Kyrian stared in disbelief.
Arlo sat on the plush rug spread on the floor as he sorted his package. “This looks cool!” He unwrapped the chopstick from the paper tissue. “I love you so much, Kyrian. It’s really amazing to have you as my uncle.” Arlo said as he wiggled his brows at his uncle. He dipped the chopstick into the plate of ramyeon and ate with relish.
Kyrian glared at Arlo as he dumped himself into the couch. “How did you know I had cake?” He huffed.
“Your sugar craving is so glaring and you never go to Hilton’s without eating at least two plates of the red velvet cake. I am sure Alpha Logan left as soon as I did. But you decided to care less about us and ate your guts away.”
Kyrian looked around for a throw pillow and he threw it at Arlo. But to his disappointment, Arlo was quick to see it coming and was able to dodge the hit.
“You are so annoying, Arlo.” Kyrian watched his nephew as he ate with a rejuvenating energy. He smiled lightly. Arlo was more like his son than a nephew. He loved him so much even though he acts like a little monster at times. Still, he would do anything to protect Arlo.
Kyrian cleared his throat. “You know you have to let it go right?” He said.
Arlo kept mute with his eyes glued to the meal.
“Arlo!” Kyrian growled after some minutes of absolutely silence with Arlo only paying more attention to his meal.
“What?!” Arlo blurted in response
“Can you not play dumb please?” Kyrian mumbled.
“What do you expect me to say?”
“You know he loves you right?”
“Then he should be matured and not whine about me taking an interest in his ex.” Arlo responded.
Kyrian threw his head to the back in frustration. “No…it is not like an ex thing.”
“They fucked fine! So? I don’t have to let her go to him. We all know he doesn’t care about women.” Arlo grimaced.
Kyrian breathed in and out heavily. He was really tired and seem to have had just about enough for one day. Knowing how stubborn Arlo could be, it wouldn’t be easy persuading him to do what he doesn’t want to.
“He is the Alpha, Arlo so you can’t argue with him.”
Arlo glared back at his uncle. “And that’s why this is so wrong. Just because he is the Alpha doesn’t mean he can just throw his weight around because he wants to.”
“Why are you being so adamant?” Kyrian demanded.
“Because I like this one. Why don’t you get it?”
“There are a whole lot of girls like her in your school…and even better. So please get one from there and let this one off.”
“I could say the same for him.” Arlo replied.
They both kept quiet with each person lost in their own pool of thought. Kyrian stood up to leave. He was tired of the constant bickering.
“You know what? I am really tired now. We would discuss it any time when I feel like it.” Kyrian said as he walked out of the living room.
Arlo huffed behind him. “Like I want to either.”
Kyrian ignored Arlo as he kept up with ranting. As Kyrian went up to his room, he hoped all of the emotions flying around would dissipate by morning.
