Chapter 21 Reflection
MIDNIGHT PACK
AT THE FINLAY’S HOME
Tommy Finlay huffed in annoyance as he slammed Jovy against the basement wall. The thought of Jovy defying his rules and doing just whatever she wanted annoyed him greatly. She reminded him so much of her mother and he couldn’t bear to look into her eyes for so long because so many secrets surrounded her birth. Thinking about everything gets him reeled up every time. He despised her with every nerve in his body.
Jovy groaned in pains at the impact of the push, she felt a bruised part on her upper arm as it brushed through the wall and a sort of wetness that trickled down. She was bleeding. Her heart clenched at the rage her father had in his eyes.
After Tommy made a hit on her face again, he snatched her bag from her. He rummaged through the content in it and brought out her phone. It was already switched on cause she had eventually charged it in Logan’s car when she was returning home.
Tommy threw the bag at her and dangled the phone in front of her. “Since you do not know how to use your mobile phone, I might as well keep it from you! I am taking this away for the next two days that you will be locked up here! Silly girl! Take your time to reflect on your miserable life!”
“No dad…please don’t take my phone.” She pleaded.
Tommy scoffed in disbelief. “Is this a joke? Why would I hand the phone over to you? This is useless to you! So it’s better not to have it at all!”
Jovy prayed silently that he wouldn’t smashed it. “I need it please…don’t take it away from me.” She kept on, not knowing where she gathered the courage from.
Logan had promised to call her so she couldn’t have her phone away from her for too long so she won’t miss his call when he eventually tries to reach out to her.
“You should be grateful I haven’t smashed it! Idiot!” Tommy turned away.
Jovy jolted as the door slammed shut and the darkness of the room enveloped her. Tears rolled down her eyes, as she slowly slipped down to the ground and hugged her legs to her chest. Regret was beginning to set in and she hoped that her best friend doesn’t hate her so much now for causing her such trouble. She couldn’t lose Alice at this point of her life.
Even in her miserable state, the thoughts of the moments she spent with Logan played in her mind. Logan had made her feel whole and important that it made body tingle at the thought. Jovy relieved herself with the thought of him and her thighs constricted as memories of everything he did to her came in view. Jovy bowed her head as the tears flowed endlessly. She felt so alone and lost.
Few minutes of her being locked in she heard the door click open. Her heart raced as a glint of hoped flashed her eyes that her father had changed his mind and intended to release her. Instead, her hope sank deeper when the intruder was no other than Amelia herself.
“Oh, did you think it was your knight in shining armor?” She taunted.
Jovy buried her head back between her legs, paying her no mind. She wasn’t in the mood for Amelia’s petty acts today.
Amelia paced the room to and fro with her eyes fixated on her step sister. She couldn’t help but wonder where Jovy had gone or who she was with. Curiosity nagged at the back of her mind so badly. Whatever it was Jovy has, Amelia always craved to have better than she does.
Everyone at the party, even the gay males had mentioned a good looking man who had graced the party for not too long and had stayed hidden. But she found him somewhere in the dark. She remembered trying to keep a close eye on the unknown man but couldn’t do a perfect job because of Jared.
If Jared wasn’t so clingy, she would have found a way to meet with the man in secret and probably have a thing with him if he was willing. Amelia had sensed his aura of authority from where she stood. So the thought that Jovy might have ended up hanging around with such a man scared her a bit too much. If the man was the same Jovy had been riding in the dark then she would ensure to ruin it just out of spite if she finds anything. Still she needed to be sure. Amelia concluded.
“First of, why did you go to the party and who were you with?” Amelia asked, still pacing around like a detective intending to solve a murder case.
Jovy raised her head to stare at her. If she wasn’t so weak then her laughter would have filled the whole room. “What are you? A detective?”
“Answer the damn question!” Amelia growled.
“I don’t answer to you, Amelia. So get that straight in your head. All you can do is say trash about me and make me get punished but don’t ever come at me acting like my mom or someone important.” Jovy snapped back at her.
“What?!” Amelia gasped out at her sudden outburst.
From the look on Amelia’s face, she was completely taken aback by the response coming from Jovy who hardly give a response to all her jabs or ever have anything to say to it.
“You have grown so much in the past few days.” She admitted.
Jovy heaved a sigh of exhaustion. “Maybe I am just tired of you bossing me around. You do too much for your own good.”
“Hey!” Amelia snapped as she moved closer to Jovy. She grabbed Jovy’s jaw tightly with her nails digging into her skin. “Don’t you dare talk to me which ever way you like! You have no right to do so!”
Jovy snatched her jaw from Amelia’s grip and she rubbed at the burning spot. She breathe out repeatedly trying to control her anger. “I don’t have anything to say to you. So please let me serve my punishment in peace. And I know the last place you want to be is right here with me.” She said in a low tone.
Amelia balled her fists in anger. She hated how composed Jovy was in expressing her annoyance. She hated how Jovy had so much self control. Basically, everything about Jovy Finlay makes her so angry.
“I despise you so much!” Amelia seethed her teeth in anger.
Jovy let out a sigh. It wasn’t new to her anymore. She had gotten used to hearing the words from Amelia like an everyday mantra. At one point, Jovy wondered why she picks on her for no reason. But as Alice would say, Amelia is a mentally unstable wolf who needs help.
Jovy swallowed hard to dissolve the lump of tears that was forming in her throat. “I know that already so please I need to have some rest now since I will be in here for a while. But lucky you, you are as free as a bird.” She said.
Amelia could sense the sarcasm dripping in each of Jovy’s words. She wished she could tear her apart by shifting into her wolf form but Amelia knew better on what would become of her whole life when the Pack Council gets on the case. She can’t risk losing her entire life for someone like Jovy whom she considered worthless.
“I will let this slide this time. But mark my words, I will deal with you.” Amelia warned, stomping her feet as she walked out of the basement. She slammed the door with all of her might.
Jovy readjusted her position to lay on the cold floor as tears fell off her face. Even though she tried hard to ignore it, the thoughts of why she was so hated by her own family still scared her. She wondered if everything would have been more different if her mother was still alive. If her mother was alive, she pondered if her father would act the way he did towards her. Also for a while now, she has been having doubt of Tommy Finlay not being her father. She had never heard of a man hating on his own child so much and giving liberty to another man’a child. Tommy was so fond of Amelia, he likes her too much and one would think she was his biological child.
More tears streamed down her face at the thought. She felt so lonely for being the enemy and subject of torture in her own house. Sometimes, she envies the relationship between her best friend Alice and her dad. The both of them are best friends. Mr Clark is a very nice man and Alice has never stopped rambling on about how awesome her dad is.
Jovy concluded on the thought of how much she would love to have a family of her own and ensure to protect them with all her might. She promised herself to ensure that their father would love them like they are his lifeline.
Jovy switched on her side to lay comfortably as she could. She closed her eyes tightly, tears still dropping and soon sleep evaded her. Dreams of how happy life would be with Logan and their future children clouded her mind’s eyes.
Jovy slept off with tears sticking to her face and a small smile on her lips at the sweet dream.
