Alexa’s Point Of View
“Waiting for me?” I asked as I took a step closer to her. She beamed and nodded. She looked away and walked closer to a huge tree that bore red fruits that I cannot recognize. They look like they would give you stomach pain if you eat them.
“I was skeptical about bringing you here at first.” She said as she caressed the trunk of the tree. The tree shook slightly as she touched the tree. Is she feeling Its heartbeat like I was?
“Bringing me here? You brought me here?” I asked her and she nodded. She turned to me. “It took you a while to find me.”
She pulled her gown out of the way. Her silver hair glimmered under the moonlight as she went over to the lake. Her hair swept behind her as she walked. She was just so magnificent. The colour of her eyes matched that of her hair and a blue gem lied between her eyes. Flower trails followed her wherever she moved. Is she mother nature or something?
“What are you?” I asked her.
“A better question should be why I called you here.”
“Did I… am I dead?” I asked and she remained silent. I gasped in disbelief and rested on a rock as my legs failed me. “is that what is happening? Is this some kind of mystic place dead people go to?”
She laughed amusingly. Even her laugh sounded ethereal. “No.”
I sighed in relief. “If not then where am I?”
“You’re in my mind.”
I raised a brow. “Your mind.”
“Yes.”
“So… so your mind has these trees? This lake and… your mind is a forest?”
What is this? Am I in some kind of crazy dream? Gosh, this is driving me crazy.
“Everything you see here is a fragment of my thoughts and of course, my energy flows through everything in here.”
“You mean… wait, are you really saying this is your mind?”
“Yes, it is.”
“So why did you call me into your… mind?”
I still can’t believe it. This is her mind.
“Because I felt like its time that both of us met since you’ve finally unlocked your powers.”
I frowned in confusion. “My powers? I think you’re mistaken, I’ve never had powers. Do you know my nickname growing up? It’s wolfless bitch. Wolf… less.”
She shook her head, “I said powers not wolf.”
“What kind of powers?”
She created a vine swing with her powers and sat on it. “Don’t you remember saving that injured man? You healed him.”
She’s right. Somehow, I was able to heal that man. I thought it was a dream but I guess it isn’t. So I have healing powers?
“You mean I have powers?”
She nodded.
“What kind of powers?”
“You’ll get to know when you start using them fully.”
“Ah… I see.”
Everything seemed unbelievable. I have powers. After all these years, I have a power I can show off with.
“That still hasn’t explained how I got here.”
“I’ve been inside you for a very long time.”
“Inside where?”
“Since you were born, I’ve been inside you, waiting for the day we’d meet like this.”
“Why have you been inside me?”
“Because you’re the chosen one. The one who would help me with my quest.”
I hummed thoughtfully. “Quest, huh?”
“You look like you don’t believe me.”
“Who would believe it when a glowing mystical lady tells them that they suddenly have magical powers and they are some kind of chosen one for the mystical lady’s quest. Just think about it! It all sounds made up.”
“I know you don’t believe it but I’ve been with you all your life. I was with you when you were born. When you took your first steps. When you met Lyell, when…”
“Wait, how do you know Lyell?”
“I told you. I’ve been with you all your life.”
She is beginning to make sense.
“Fine. How old was I when I got my first fighting lessons from my father?”
“Five.”
“What age was I when I lost my parents?”
“Nine.”
“What happened to me when I was six that no one else knows? Not even my parents.”
“You ate the chicken they told you not to touch and you let your brother take the blame.”
Unbelievable! I never told anyone about this. I was just so hungry that day and I was too impatient to wait for my mum to share the chicken so I just took a bite. My brother, being the loving brother that he was, took the blame without batting an eye.
“Do you believe me now?”
I batted my lashes. “So you’ve been with me all this while but still watched as I went through the worst childhood? If you’re this powerful, why did you help me escape from Raven Pack? Why didn’t you help me save my family?”
“I might be powerful out here but I am not out there and besides, I can’t leave this place. I can only work through a body. If I leave here, I die.”
“So the body you chose to work through is mine?”
She nodded and I scoffed.
“What if I’m not interested in your… quest.”
“Even if you’re not, you have to be. Your energy and mine clashed the moment you unleashed yours and unless you take my hand, your energy will continue to remain unbalanced. In three months you might burn to ashes or freeze to death.”
“What?!”
“So take my hand now or you’ll never see anyone again. Not even your beloved Akira, or should I say, Lyell?”
I frowned. “What do you mean?”
She covered her mouth with her palm innocently. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. Anyway, I’m going to give you enough time to decide but I don’t think you’d be alive by then anyway.”
“Judging by the way you talk, I don’t think your quest would be anything good.”
“Of course, it isn’t for those who wronged me. If you never wronged me, you don’t have to worry.”
“They wronged you? Who?”
She smiled and tapped her side. I went over to her hesitantly and sat beside her on the swing.
“It’s a long story, are you ready to hear it?” She asked and I nodded.
“Centuries ago, I was taken as a slave by a rival clan…”
