Zane climbed out of his car and walked towards the burning house. He imagined himself going mad if Ava was hurt in that fire, even though he knew that there was nothing he could do to Andras over what he had done. When he got in front of the house, he told the guy behind him to be ready when he came out with Ava and after saying that, he took a deep breath and ran past the fire.
The iron door had already begun melting, so Zane pushed the door open quickly and ran inside the house, calling Ava’s name. The heat of the fire surged and the house was already in intense flames. He screamed her name once again and sprinted toward the rooms just after the sitting room.
When he opened the first room, there was no one there and then he ran to the second one but it was locked. The handle was so hot that he couldn’t touch it. Just then, his blue eyes turned darker and his green-snake tattoo on his arm shone brighter. He summoned up the energy inside of him and stopped backwards, while stretching his hands. Suddenly, vigorous blue waves stretched out of his palm and moved toward the door, eating it up with speed.
He withdrew his hand and watched the waves eat up the door until it was no more and with urgency, he ran into the room and walked toward Ava, who was lying down unconscious on the floor with the whole room burning and saturated with smoke. He carried her up in his arms and walked out of the room as quickly as he could.
As soon as he got out of the burning house, one of his men ran ahead of him and opened the door to the car, allowing him to gently lie Ava down on the backseat. He exhaled and turned to the guy, “Don’t take her to the family house, take her to mine.” The young man nodded and got into the driver seat of the car, then drove off after starting it.
Watching the car run speedily away from him, he heaved a sigh of relief and turned to watch the rest of the house burn down. Under the moon of the night, he could see his shadow stretched out some distance away from him. That was how he imagined himself a thousand steps ahead of Philip.
He had told Andras to deal with Philip and not to burn the whole house down with Ava inside. He had no idea how Andras knew Philip’s location because as far as he had known, Philip was too discreet and classified when it came to giving out information even to those people nearest to him.
It was a great joy to Zane when Andras called him and reported that he had found Philip but Ava was alone in the burning house. Zane would have screamed at him but Andras told him that this was his chance to capture Ava, gain her trust and change her mind against Philip. It was a very good opportunity for Zane and he seized it. Ava was a very naive and innocent girl, she had not known Philip for a long time and so it wouldn’t be difficult for him to turn her against the person that was protecting her. It could only happen if Philip survived Andras’ deadly hand and if Philip didn’t survive, then he would have Ava all to himself without any person in between.
