“You are the prominent Gale family’s granddaughter, and you have a distinguished status in City L. How could I order you around?”
Even though Porter said those words, he still treated her the same. He was disdainful, contemptuous, and disrespectful toward Wendy, and she wanted to tear that smile off his face! However, she knew that she could not afford to offend him yet.
She sighed and then smiled meekly. “Fifth Young Master, how can I get here without your help? Of course, I will do whatever you need me to do.”
She walked toward him. “Fifth Young Master, I am stupid, and I don’t know what to do next. Please give me an idea.”
Porter flicked the cigarette at his fingertips, and his gaze gradually settled.
“Are you sure that no one in the Gale family will not expose your identity?”
Porter did not believe that the Gale family would love and protect each other that much.
Would they really protect Emily from a scandal and let Gale Corporation go bankrupt? He had started to purchase Wendy’s shares a little at a time. However, he had it keep it under the radar, and so he needed more time.
Wendy still had 25 percent of shares in her hand. A few ‘private investors’ had purchased about five percent of her shares, and then discreetly transferred it to his name. He still had to work on the remaining 25 percent. If he were to do that too quickly, they might sue Wendy for fraud, and he would not be spared as well. He had to find a way to convince the market that Wendy’s shares were bought by private investors worldwide.
He did not expect Wendy’s identity would be exposed. Wendy had also decided to confess to Joseph that she was not Gale family’s granddaughter, and it was also her idea to take Old Master Gale out to sea. She was indeed the master of her own. Some might see her as an incompetent beauty, but she had brains too.
“Don’t worry, Fifth Young Master Jackson. They would not act rashly for the time being.”
Wendy had stayed in the Gale’s mansion for some time, and she knew a lot about Old Master Gale and Joseph. They might be successful people, but they had a significant weakness—they put their family in front of everything else. She had caught on to that and played it to her advantage.
“The old master is in such a critical stage, so Joseph will take extra care not to bring unnecessary attention to their scandal. He’s too afraid that his grandfather will be stressed if Emily is in trouble.”
Porter did not comment on that.
Wendy smiled and continued. “So, don’t worry. Just go at your pace; there will be no problem.”
“Okay, I shall believe you this once. I will not forget your contribution when things are done.”
Porter waved his hand, and Wendy knew that it was time for her to leave. He had always treated her like a servant and had never respected her. The sweet smile on her lips disappeared the moment she stepped out of the room.
That damn Porter had no respect for her! How much did he give her in exchange for her five percent of Gale Corporation shares? A mere ten million bucks! Was that not daylight robbery?
She would not have sold those shares to him if she did not get them through improper means. She only did that because she was also afraid of future problems.
The more she thought about it, the more unhappy she was! She was the richest woman in City L, why should she follow another’s command? Ten million for her five percent of shares! Wendy’s heart still bled when she thought of that. However, what could she do when Porter had so much evidence of her wrongdoings?
Wendy left the hotel and drove to a nearby plaza and pulled to a stop. She looked at her mobile phone with mixed feelings. She was not happy with her situation at all!
Even if she had to be submissive, she should not be submissive toward Porter! She was deep in thoughts for quite some time before her eyes darkened as she made up her mind. She dialed a number.
“Hunter…”

Emily had been quiet for the past two days. She stayed at the hospital to keep her grandfather company during the day and did some work at night. She noticed her grandfather’s spirit had improved, but he was still in quite a blur. The doctors advised that it would take some time before he could fully recover.
Old Master Gale was no longer a young man, and he might have died from that second stroke had he not been healthy and strong. He could get up and walk around occasionally, but he seemed to be in a daze and unsure of his actions.
On the third day, Emily received some great news from Bentson—Sally had improved greatly! The doctors even allowed her discharge from the ICU, and the first thing that she did was call Emily.
“Emily, Kate…”
Emily immediately tightened her fingers around the phone. It had been Kate, indeed! That evil woman had dared to try to murder someone. How courageous of her!
“Emily, I heard their secret!”
Sally had just woken up, and her body was still weak. Emily could hear her anxiety over the phone. She smiled as she recalled what a great friend Sally had been to her. She could feel her love and warmth.
“Do you want to tell me that you accidentally heard about my identity, and that was why Kate wanted to kill you?”
“Emily…” Sally was stunned. What had happened? How did Emily know about that?
“Sally, you have been in a coma for way too long. I have found out about many things on my own.
“I’m now with the Gale family. I have reunited with my grandfather and my other family members. They have been very good to me, and they all knew the truth about Wendy.”
As for the other things, Emily decided not to bother Sally with them as she had just recovered. Emily had many things to tell her friend, but she could not say them aloud.
“Sally, please take care of yourself. Brother Joseph will contact you to bring you to make a police report against Kate. She has committed a crime and she must not go unpunished.”
Sally thought that Emily had behaved quite oddly. Why would Joseph contact her? What about Emily? Did she not care about that? Sally scratched her head as she wondered if she was confused because she had just woken up from a coma.
“Emily…”
“You haven’t recovered completely, so don’t think too much. Take good care of yourself.”
Emily’s voice reassured her. “We will results and conclude everything soon.”
Sally still did not understand what Emily had said, but her friend did not tell her more. Emily hung up after she told Sally that she was busy.
After that, she dialed another number. “Terry, I want to ask you for a favor. However, it might prove to be a difficult request.”
