Emily and Terry did go to a hotel.
However, both of them were merely the first people who had entered the building. Joe and Sally arrived a few moments later.
There was nothing about it that would arouse the suspicions of a clandestine meeting.
“Why did the landlord decide to take back your room all of a sudden? He did not give you any notice too. This is unacceptable!”
Sally grumbled while she packed.
“I heard that the landlord had something to do with the Winston family. The whole fiasco with Amy had probably led to this. It’s not a big deal if they don’t want to rent us the room anymore.”
Joe did not think much of it. The landlord had returned the deposit to them anyway and even chose not to collect a month’s rent.
If they were to take all that into account, they were the ones who had benefited.
However, they would have to stay in a hotel.
Joe looked at the surroundings and then at Emily. He felt a little uncomfortable.
“Ranran, isn’t this hotel expensive? How much does it cost for a night’s stay?”
“More than five hundred.”
“More than five hundred dollars?!” Joe shrieked. “Why don’t we stay in a cheaper one? There are many small hotels near the school that cost about one to two hundred for one night.”
“Terry is injured. How do you expect him to live in such poor conditions? What if he gets a bacterial infection?”
“I’m fine.” Terry smiled and tried to downplay this injury. “It’s just a minor injury.”
“How can it be a minor injury? I almost saw your bones.”
When Sally remembered how deep the knife wound had been, she shivered in fear!
If that blade had been wielded more harshly, would Terry still be able to keep his arm?
The mere thought of it was scary enough!
“I haven’t thanked you properly.” Emily looked at Terry. She was still worried, just like Sally had been.
“No thanks necessary.” Terry hated it whenever she thanked him.
He changed the subject. “When you went back last night… Did Eldest Young Master Jackson make things difficult for you?”
When she heard those words, Emily’s eyes dimmed with a touch of briefly-present gloominess.
Nevertheless, she smiled and casually said, “My relationship with Eldest Young Master Jackson can’t even be considered as ordinary friends. What you know and could see is simply a family-arranged marriage.”
“So, there is no issue of him making things difficult for me. When we got back, he ignored me and fell asleep by himself.”
Terry’s thin lips moved slightly, but he remained silent.
The way Eldest Young Master Jackson treated her was not as simple as an arranged marriage.
When he was there to rescue her the night before, he had looked really relieved when he realized that she was okay.
For a person like Eldest Young Master Jackson-who never revealed his emotions-to show his relief so clearly, it was apparent that he had been very anxious before he saw Emily.
It was wrong to say that Eldest Young Master Jackson did not care about her. She simply failed to notice his concern.
“Well, you should recuperate here today. Joe and I will go find you your new home.”
Sally pushed Emily. “There’s no class in the afternoon. Emily, remember to come back here and take care of Terry after you are done with your morning classes.”
“No problem.” Emily gave her an OK gesture.
Sally and Joe took their purse and wallet and did not waste any more time. They left the hotel immediately and went in search of a house for Terry.
Emily looked at the time on her phone. It was already half-past eight.
The first lesson had already begun, and she could only catch up with the second lesson if she went back immediately.
“Terry …”
“Go to your classes. I’m a little sleepy too. I’d like to rest for a while.”
“Okay, then. Rest well and don’t go out by yourself. Wait for me to finish my classes, and I’ll buy you lunch on the way here.”
When he nodded, Emily grabbed her bag and hurried back to her classes.
Terry looked at the door with a profound gaze.
The girl must have had a hard time the night before, but she chose not to say anything in front of them.
She seemed to have undergone a bit of change recently; she was more quiet, calm, and sensible.
It was as if she had grown up.
However, she was only eighteen years old.
In the past, he had always pitied her.
When he looked at her then, a gamut of strange emotions would surface at random from within him.
However, he had no intention to overthink those rogue emotions.
Things had been right the way they were.
He could hear movements outside the door, and it suddenly swung open.
Terry laughed and said, “She’s still the same old forgetful…”
He did not finish his sentence when he realized that the person who entered the room was not Emily.
Liam had opened the door and made way deferentially. Then Hunter walked into the room with a frosty expression.
It was Terry’s first time to interact so closely with Hunter.
Even though they had fought side-by-side the night before, he did not get a good look at the eldest young master because it had been very dark.
At first glance, even Terry would admit that there was probably no one in the entire Bentson who could rival Eldest Young Master Jackson’s physique.
No wonder Emily would look at him with a touch of admiration in her eyes.
Eldest Young Master Jackson’s appearance and charisma could really drive women insane.
Terry was not a woman, however. Even in the face of an outstanding character like Eldest Young Master Jackson, Terry would only have a tiny speck of reverence toward him.
Amazement, and perhaps even admiration, did not exist at all.
Terry sat on the bed and looked coldly at the two men.
Liam carried a chair for the eldest young master, but Hunter only stood by the chair. It did not look as if he intended to take a seat.
“Did Eldest Young Master Jackson come here to ask me something?” Time was a precious commodity for a person like Eldest Young Master Jackson.
He would not show up in person unless it was an important matter.
Terry sneered, “Did someone report to Eldest Young Master Jackson that Emilyn and I were doing inappropriate things in a hotel?”
The night before, he had noticed the low-key Maybach at the side of the road near the food stalls.
Hunter had been spying on Emily from within the car. The others were unaware of it, but Terry had seen it clearly.
“No matter what my woman wants to do, it’ll never be your turn to do it with her.”
Hunter remarked coldly. There was no superfluous expression on his iceberg-like handsome face.
A dark gloominess was present in Terry’s eyes. The way he looked at Hunter was also shrouded in a complex plethora of indecipherable emotion.
After a two-second staring contest, he said, “Emily had saved me before. I won’t hesitate to die for her if necessary.”
Terry sat on the bed while Eldest Young Master Jackson stood beside the chair. The aura of those two made Liam feel puny and insignificant.
He could hardly believe that a twenty-year-old boy could rival the eldest young master’s aura.
Who was the boy?
“I won’t do anything to hurt her, and I won’t make life difficult for her too.”
Terry shot a penetrative gaze into Hunter’s eyes. “Even if I were to want something from her, I’ll make sure to do it openly.”
His message was conveyed loud and clear-affairs and clandestine relationships did not exist in his vocabulary at all.
He would only make his move if Emily left Hunter.
“It’s best that you give up as soon as possible.”
Terry’s chance would never come!
Hunter scoffed coldly, turned around, and left the room.
Liam looked at Terry and said, “My little friend…”
Terry looked at Liam with a sharp, cold gaze, and it forced the latter to cough and changed his way of addressing the boy. “Mr. Jackson, the culprits from yesterday have been apprehended. Eldest Young Master Jackson would like to invite you to come with us.”
