Chapter 71
Emily had been trailing Andrianne for days, taking notes of her every move. She knew that Andrianne was the only obstacle standing in her way of getting back together with Lucas. And she was determined to get rid of her.
Andrianne had no idea that she was being followed. She went about her daily routine, which mostly involved going to the hospital for checkups and running errands like grocery shopping. Emily made sure that one of her men was always watching Andrianne, waiting for the perfect time to strike.
One day, Andrianne went to the hospital for a routine checkup. Emily’s man followed her inside and pretended to be a patient. He sat down in the waiting area and waited for Andrianne to come out. When she did, he followed her outside, keeping a safe distance.
Andrianne didn’t suspect a thing. She walked to her car, got in and drove off. Emily’s man followed her, making sure he wasn’t spotted. He trailed her all the way to the grocery store, where Andrianne went in to buy some food.
Emily’s man waited outside, keeping a watchful eye on Andrianne. He saw her come out with her grocery bags and get into her car. He followed her again, making sure he wasn’t spotted.
As Andrianne drove home, Emily’s man followed her, keeping a safe distance. When she got to her house, he parked across the street and watched as she went inside. He waited for a while, making sure she wasn’t going to leave again anytime soon.
Emily’s plan was simple – she was going to wait for the perfect opportunity to strike. And when that opportunity presented itself, she would take it. She was determined to get rid of Andrianne once and for all.

Andrianne drove to the police station with a heavy heart, worrying about Lucas and what would happen to him. She parked her car in the parking lot and walked towards the entrance of the police station. As she walked, she couldn’t help but feel anxious about what awaited her inside.
When she got to the entrance, she took a deep breath and walked inside. The police officers at the entrance recognized her and greeted her respectfully. She smiled back at them and continued to the cell where Lucas was being held.
As she approached the cell, she could see Lucas sitting on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands. He looked up when he heard her approaching and a small smile crept onto his face.
“Andrianne, I’m so glad you’re here,” Lucas said as she approached the cell. “How are you holding up?”
Andrianne tried to put on a brave face but it was clear to Lucas that she was worried. “I’m hanging in there. I’m just worried about you. How are you doing?”
“I’m alright. I just want to get out of here,” Lucas replied with a hint of frustration in his voice.
Andrianne looked at him sympathetically. “I know, but we have to be patient. The truth will come out and you’ll be exonerated.”
Lucas nodded and they sat in silence for a few moments. Andrianne couldn’t help but feel a lump in her throat, she was holding back tears. She finally broke the silence.
At that moment, Lucas’s father walked into the room. He looked somber but composed as he approached Andrianne and Lucas.
“Andrianne, my dear, how are you holding up?” he asked, taking her hand.
“I’m doing my best,” Andrianne replied, smiling weakly.
Lucas’s father turned to his son. “Lucas, we need to talk.”
Lucas nodded and looked back at Andrianne. “I’ll see you later, okay?”
Andrianne nodded and watched as Lucas and his father walked away, wondering what they needed to talk about.
As they walked down the hallway, Lucas’s father spoke in a low voice. “Lucas, we need to start thinking about a defense strategy. The evidence against you is strong, but we can still fight this.”
Lucas nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. “I know, Dad. But we need to be careful. We don’t want to do anything that might make things worse.”
His father nodded in agreement. “I’ve already contacted some of the best lawyers in the city. We’re going to do everything we can to get you out of here.”
Lucas nodded and they continued their conversation, discussing different options and strategies.
Meanwhile, Andrianne couldn’t shake off the feeling of worry and anxiety. She knew that they were in a tough situation, but she also knew that they had to stay strong and support each other. She wiped away her tears and left the premises, thinking of a way to end all of this.
As Andrianne walked out of the police station, she felt a wave of relief wash over her. Her visit with Lucas had gone well, and he seemed to be in better spirits than when she had last seen him. But now it was time to take action and do whatever she could to get her husband out of this mess.
She fished her phone out of her pocket and dialed her lawyer’s number. After a few rings, he picked up.
“Hello, Andrianne. How can I assist you?” he asked.
“Hi, David. It’s about Lucas,” she said, her voice slightly trembling.
“Yes, I’ve been keeping up with the news. What’s the latest?”
“They haven’t found any concrete evidence yet, but I’m worried about how long they’re going to keep him in custody,” Andrianne said, trying to keep her voice steady.
“I understand. We need to take action, and fast. I’ll be in my office all day today, why don’t you come down and we can discuss our options,” David suggested.
“Okay, I’ll be there in an hour,” Andrianne replied before hanging up.
She took a deep breath and started walking towards the parking lot, feeling a sense of purpose. As she got in her car and drove towards her lawyer’s office, she couldn’t help but feel grateful to have someone like David on her side.
When she arrived at the office building, Andrianne took the elevator up to the 12th floor and walked down the hallway to David’s office. She knocked on the door and was greeted by his assistant, who ushered her in.
“Good morning, Andrianne. Please take a seat,” David said, motioning towards a chair in front of his desk.
Andrianne sat down, feeling a little nervous. She had never been in a lawyer’s office before, and the seriousness of the situation was starting to sink in.
“First of all, I want you to know that I’m here to help you in any way I can,” David said, leaning forward in his chair. “We need to make sure Lucas gets out of custody as soon as possible, but we also need to be careful not to give the police any more ammunition against him.”
Andrianne nodded, feeling reassured by David’s words. She knew she could trust him to handle the situation with professionalism and tact.
“Let’s start by going over everything that’s happened so far,” David said, pulling out a notebook and pen. “I want to make sure we have all the facts straight.”
Andrianne took a deep breath and began to recount the events of the past few days, starting with Steve’s murder and ending with her visit to Lucas in custody. David listened carefully, jotting down notes as she spoke.
“Okay, so based on what you’ve told me, it seems like the police don’t have any concrete evidence against Lucas yet,” David said, flipping through his notebook. “But they’re obviously still holding him for questioning.”
“And they’re convinced that he did it,” Andrianne added.
“Yes, that much is clear. But we need to be careful not to give them any more reason to suspect him. That’s why I want you to be very cautious in your actions from here on out,” David warned.
Andrianne nodded, feeling grateful for David’s advice. She knew she couldn’t afford to make any missteps now that her husband’s life was on the line.
“Okay, so what’s our next move?” she asked.
“We need to start building a strong defense for Lucas,” David replied. “That means gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing for trial if it comes to that.”
