CH 61.
Lucas was finally feeling better and more like himself. He had been cooped up in the house for what felt like forever, and he was eager to get back to work. He missed the routine of it all, the sense of purpose it gave him. And of course, the paycheck wasn’t bad either.
He dressed in his best suit, wanting to make a good impression on his first day back. Andrianne was there to see him off, a smile on her face as she gave him a kiss on the cheek.
“Good luck today,” she said. “I’ll be thinking of you.”
Lucas grinned. “Thanks, I’ll need it.”
As his chauffeur maneuvered through the uptown road to work, Lucas couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement. He missed the hustle and bustle of the city, the sound of traffic, the energy of the people. He pulled into the parking garage and took a deep breath. It felt good to be back.
The day was a blur of meetings and paperwork, but Lucas was glad to be busy. It helped keep his mind off of things, off of the fear that always lingered in the back of his mind. He tried not to think about Andrianne’s father, or what might happen if the police ever found out about Steve’s death. He just focused on the work in front of him.
As he went through the stack of papers, he couldn’t help but think about Andrianne. He missed her and couldn’t wait to see her again. He wondered if she was thinking about him too.
Suddenly, his phone rang, interrupting his thoughts. It was Andrianne calling him. He answered the phone and could hear the excitement in her voice.
“Hey, Lucas! How’s work going?”
“It’s going well. I have a lot of catching up to do, but I’ll manage. How about you?”
“I’m good. Just wanted to check in and see how you’re doing. We should have dinner tonight.”
“That sounds great. I’ll meet you at your place after work.”
“Perfect. I’ll see you later.”
Lucas hung up the phone and smiled. He was excited to see Andrianne again. She was the one good thing that had happened to him in a long time.
As the day went on, Lucas worked hard to catch up on everything that he had missed. He was determined to prove to his boss and colleagues that he was back and ready to work.
His phone buzzed again, this time with a call from his assistant. He answered it, trying to shake off his thoughts of Andrianne and focus on the task at hand. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get her out of his head.
As the day wore on, Lucas found himself growing increasingly restless. He couldn’t wait to see Andrianne again, to feel her warmth and hear her laugh. He tried to push the thoughts aside and focus on work, but they kept creeping back into his mind.
Finally, he couldn’t take it anymore. He closed his laptop and grabbed his coat, heading out of the office and into the fresh air. He walked aimlessly through the city, his thoughts still consumed by Andrianne.
As the sun began to set, Lucas realized he had been walking for hours. He looked around, realizing he had no idea where he was. But he didn’t care. All he could think about was Andrianne and how much he missed her.
Finally, the workday was over, and Lucas headed over to Andrianne’s place. As he arrived, he saw her waiting for him at the door. She looked beautiful, and Lucas couldn’t help but smile.
“Hey, you,” he said as he greeted her with a hug.
“Hey, yourself,” she replied, smiling back.
As they walked inside, the delicious aroma of food filled the air. Andrianne had cooked dinner for them, and it looked and smelled amazing.
Over dinner, they talked and laughed, and Lucas felt happy and content. He had missed this feeling, and he knew that being with Andrianne was where he wanted to be.
As the night came to an end, Lucas hugged Andrianne and whispered in her ear, “I’m so glad to be with you.”
Andrianne smiled and hugged him back. “Me too, Lucas. Me too.”
Andrianne laughed, and Lucas felt a sense of relief wash over him. It was good to be back with her, to be able to talk to her and laugh with her. He couldn’t imagine his life without her now, and he knew that he wanted to spend every moment he could with her.
Without really thinking, he leaned in and pressed his lips to hers. It was a gentle, sweet kiss, but it sent shivers down his spine.
Andrianne was surprised at first, but she quickly melted into the kiss. She wrapped her arms around him and deepened the kiss, their lips moving together in a dance of passion.
They finally broke apart, both of them breathing heavily. Lucas looked at Andrianne, his eyes filled with love.
“I’m sorry,” he said, a hint of worry in his voice. “I shouldn’t have done that without asking.”
Andrianne smiled and shook her head. “It’s okay,” she said. “I wanted you to.”
Lucas grinned, feeling relief wash over him. He leaned in for another kiss, more passionate this time. Andrianne met him eagerly, and they lost themselves in the moment.
Andrianne could feel Lucas’s gaze on her and it sent shivers down her spine. She could feel the tension building between them, the desire to touch and feel each other becoming almost unbearable.
But Lucas knew that this wasn’t the right time. They had just gotten out of the hitch and he wanted to take things slow. He didn’t want to rush into anything and risk damaging the beautiful relationship they had built.
So instead, he reached out and took her hand, intertwining their fingers. They sat in comfortable silence for a while, enjoying each other’s company and the quiet of the night.
Andrianne knew that Lucas was holding back, and she respected him for it. She didn’t want to push him into anything he wasn’t ready for. She was content to sit there with him, holding hands and enjoying the moment.
Finally, Lucas broke the silence. “You know I love you, right?” he said softly, his eyes never leaving hers.
Andrianne’s heart swelled with emotion. “I love you too,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Lucas leaned in and kissed her gently on the forehead. “Let’s go to bed,” he said, standing up and pulling her to her feet.
Andrianne smiled, feeling a warm sense of contentment wash over her. She knew that they would have plenty of time to explore their desires in the future, but for now, she was happy just to be with him.
