Chapter 18.
Lucas’ room was a sight to behold. The spacious room was adorned with the finest of furniture and luxurious fixtures. The walls were painted in a warm shade of cream, which added to the feeling of grandeur in the room. The wooden floorboards were polished to a gleaming shine and covered with a plush rug that ran the length of the room.
The centerpiece of the room was a massive four-poster bed with soft, fluffy pillows and a matching duvet. The bedding was a soft shade of beige and contrasted beautifully with the deep blue accent pillows. The room was lit by a combination of natural light from the large windows that overlooked the city and the soft glow of strategically placed lamps.
Lucas’ closet was a room within itself. It was filled with designer clothes, neatly arranged on hangers and shelves. The section for suits and formal wear was particularly impressive. They were arranged according to color and style, and every piece looked to be of the finest quality. The shoes and accessories were no less impressive, with a selection of luxury brands that would make any fashion lover swoon.
As Lucas prepared to go to the office, he selected a crisp white shirt, which he paired with a navy blue suit. He added a burgundy tie and pocket square, which perfectly complemented his outfit. He slipped into his leather shoes and checked himself in the full-length mirror. He looked sharp and confident, ready to tackle the day ahead.
The design of the room was magnificent, with every detail considered. From the ornate headboard on the bed to the intricate carvings on the wooden nightstands, no expense was spared. The overall effect was one of luxury and refinement. As Lucas left the room, the feeling of grandeur lingered, and it was clear that this was a space designed for a man of immense wealth and power.
The day was bright and sunny, and the warmth of the sun permeated through the car windows as Lucas got in. Andrianne was not with him, and he couldn’t help but feel a little guilty for leaving her alone.
He instructed his driver to take him to the office, and as they drove, he called one of the maids to make sure Andrianne was doing okay. “How is she doing?” he asked the maid.
“She’s still a little upset, but she seems to be doing better,” the maid replied. “I made her some breakfast, and she said she would take a shower and rest for a while.”
“Good,” Lucas said. “Just make sure she has everything she needs. I don’t want her to feel alone or neglected.”
The maid assured him that she would take good care of Andrianne, and Lucas hung up the phone. As they continued on their way to the office, Lucas couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease. He knew he had to focus on work, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
Finally, they arrived at the office, and Lucas got out of the car. The building was a sleek, modern tower with glass walls that reflected the sunlight. Inside, his office was just as impressive, with floor-to-ceiling windows that offered sweeping views of the city.
Lucas sat at his desk, staring blankly at his computer screen. He couldn’t focus on work, his thoughts kept wandering back to Andrianne. The pain and sadness he had seen in her eyes was etched in his mind, and he couldn’t help but wish he could do something to make it better.
He had never been very good with emotions, but something about Andrianne made him want to try. He knew he couldn’t take away the pain of losing her mother, but he could at least try to make things a little easier for her.
With a sigh, Lucas made a decision. He would keep Andrianne as his roommate for as long as she needed. He would give her space, but be there for her when she needed him.
As he thought about it, he realized that he had never really had a roommate before. He had always lived alone, and enjoyed the peace and quiet that came with it. But for Andrianne, he was willing to make an exception.
He leaned back in his chair and ran his hands through his hair. It was going to be a big adjustment, but he knew it was the right thing to do.
Just then, his phone rang, interrupting his thoughts. He picked it up and saw that it was Andrianne calling.
“Hey, Andrianne,” he answered, trying to sound casual.
“Hey, Lucas,” her voice was small and shaky.
“Is everything okay?” he asked, concerned.
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line before Andrianne finally spoke. “I just wanted to say thank you for everything. For being there for me and for letting me stay here.”
Lucas felt a rush of warmth in his chest. “Of course, Andrianne. You don’t have to thank me.”
Another pause. “And, um, I wanted to ask if it would be okay if I stayed here for a little while longer. Just until I figure out what to do next.”
Lucas smiled, even though she couldn’t see him. “Of course, you’re welcome to stay for as long as you need to.”
“Thank you, Lucas. I appreciate it more than you know.”
They said their goodbyes and hung up. Lucas leaned back in his chair again, feeling a sense of contentment wash over him. For the first time in a long time, he felt like he was doing something good.
Emily sashayed into the office, her tight skirt stopping just above her knees, showing off her toned legs. Her blouse was unbuttoned just enough to reveal a hint of cleavage, and her hair was styled in perfect waves. Her makeup was impeccable, highlighting her features in all the right places. However, Lucas couldn’t help but notice that her beauty didn’t have the same effect on him as it used to.
“Good morning, Lucas,” Emily purred, her voice thick with seduction. “I have your schedule for the day ready for you.”
Lucas nodded, his eyes fixed on his computer screen. “Thanks, Emily,” he replied, his voice cool and distant.
Emily noticed the change in Lucas’s demeanor and frowned. “Is everything alright?” she asked, taking a step closer to him.
Lucas hesitated for a moment, then sighed. “It’s just been a rough couple of days, that’s all,” he said, his eyes meeting hers for the first time.
Emily’s expression softened. “I’m sorry to hear that,” she said, reaching out to touch his arm. “Is there anything I can do to help?”
Lucas pulled away slightly, his mind wandering to Andrianne. “No, it’s fine,” he said, his eyes returning to the computer screen. “I just need to focus on work for now.”
Emily’s smile faltered, but she nodded understandingly. “Of course, I understand,” she said. “Let me know if you need anything.”
Lucas nodded, his mind still preoccupied with thoughts of Andrianne. As Emily walked out of his office, he couldn’t help but wonder if he had made the right decision to stay as roommates with Andrianne.
