Chapter 17.
Adrianne drove down the winding road, her mind still reeling from the bombshell her father had just dropped on her. She couldn’t believe that her mother was gone, and the knowledge that her father had been involved in her death was too much to bear. The tears flowed freely down her cheeks, and her heart ached with pain.
As she pulled up to the house she shared with Lucas, Adrianne couldn’t bring herself to get out of the car. She sat there for what felt like hours, lost in thought and consumed by grief. She thought about her mother, about all the memories they had shared, and about the cruel twist of fate that had taken her away.
Eventually, Adrianne mustered the strength to get out of the car. As she made her way up the path to the front door, she felt like she was walking in a dream. Everything seemed surreal, like she was watching herself from a distance.
When Lucas opened the door, he saw the pain and sadness in Adrianne’s eyes, and he knew that something was terribly wrong. Without saying a word, he opened his arms, and Adrianne fell into them, her body shaking with sobs.
For what felt like an eternity, Lucas held her close, his heart aching with pain for her. He knew that there was nothing he could say or do to take away her pain, but he wanted to be there for her, to offer her some small comfort in the midst of her grief.
They didn’t say a word to each other, but they didn’t need to. The silence between them was filled with a deep understanding and a sense of shared loss. As they stood there together, Adrianne felt like she could breathe again, like she could face the world with a little more strength and for a split second she almost lost herself in this two minute show of care. Lucas ordered one of the maids to lead her to her room,
As she followed the maid to her room, Andrianne couldn’t help but notice how opulent and luxurious the house was. The hallway was adorned with exquisite paintings and elegant furnishings, and the air was infused with a delicate scent of lavender. However, none of this impressed her at the moment, as her mind was preoccupied with thoughts of her mother and her father’s callous actions.
When they finally arrived at her room, Andrianne was surprised at how spacious and elegant it was. The walls were painted in a soft shade of cream, and the room was tastefully furnished with a large king-sized bed, a plush armchair, and a mahogany dresser. However, she didn’t take much notice of the room’s beauty, as her mind was clouded with sorrow and confusion.
As the maid left her to her room, Andrianne sat on the bed, feeling lost and alone. She thought about how her life had suddenly turned upside down and how she had lost the one person who had always been there for her. The tears started to flow again, and she buried her head in her hands, letting out a sob.
After sometime, Lucas walked in, and seeing the state that she was in, he felt a pang of pity for her. He could see how hurt and broken she was, and he knew that words were not enough to comfort her. He decided to give her space to mourn, and without saying a word, he walked out of the room, leaving her to her thoughts and grief.
Andrianne lay on the bed, exhausted from crying. Her eyes were red and swollen, and her cheeks were damp from the tears that had flowed endlessly. She had been crying for hours, mourning the loss of her mother and the betrayal of her father.
Eventually, her body succumbed to the exhaustion, and she drifted into a fitful sleep. Her dreams were filled with images of her mother, and she would wake up with a start, only to find herself still alone in the room. It was as if her mother’s presence had been completely erased from the world, leaving only emptiness behind.
The next morning, Andrianne woke up to the bright sunlight streaming through the window. For a moment, she couldn’t remember where she was or what had happened, but then the reality of her situation hit her like a ton of bricks. She felt a throbbing headache and dizziness as she tried to get out of bed.
As she stumbled to the bathroom, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Her hair was a mess, and her eyes were puffy and bloodshot. She felt like a complete wreck, and the sight of her own reflection made her want to cry all over again.
After splashing cold water on her face, Andrianne slowly made her way back to bed. She didn’t know what to do or where to go from here. Everything in her life had been turned upside down, and she had no idea how to cope.
As she lay in bed, she felt a sense of despair washing over her. The pain of losing her mother was still fresh, and the realization that her own father had been involved in her mother’s death made the pain even worse. She felt like there was nothing left in the world for her, and she didn’t know how to go on.
As the maid informed Andrianne about the set breakfast, she hesitated for a moment, not sure if she had the appetite to eat. However, her stomach grumbled loudly, reminding her that she hadn’t had anything substantial in a while. With a heavy heart, Andrianne slowly made her way to the dining table, taking a seat opposite the maid.
Andrianne tried to put on a brave face, despite feeling overwhelmed with sadness. She picked at her food, barely eating anything. The maid seemed to notice her distress and asked, “Is everything alright, Miss?”
Andrianne sighed, looking up at the maid. “No, everything is not alright. My mother just died” she said, her voice cracking with emotion.
The maid’s eyes widened in shock. “Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that, Miss. Is there anything I can do to help?”
Andrianne shook her head, feeling a lump forming in her throat. “No, I don’t think so. I just need some time to process everything,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
The maid nodded sympathetically, understanding the weight of grief. “Of course, Miss. Take all the time you need. If you need anything, I’ll be here to assist you,” she said before leaving the room.
Andrianne continued to pick at her food, her appetite gone. She felt like she was in a daze, unable to fully process everything that had happened. When she finished, she slowly made her way back to her room, feeling drained both emotionally and physically.
