Ava would take action that day as she already had the agreement in her hand. Was it not apparent that Michael kept them there so that they could not stop Ava? On top of that, the two of them had an unusual relationship.
“Dad, was Michael the mastermind behind Ava’s plot?”
Ava would not have been able to carry out the plan independently, someone else must have orchestrated the whole thing. She was all alone and had no unique background. However, no one knew who that person was.
“Michael, that person…”
The old master looked out at sea with complicated feelings. It took a while before he said, “The way I look at it, he doesn’t seem like someone who would use this method to seek benefits.”
“We might know a person on the outside, but we can’t be sure of his mind. Dad, don’t judge a book by its cover!”
Even though Sasha refused to admit that an outstanding man like Michael would work so shamelessly with a villain like Ava, she had no other explanation as to why he would leave them on the island. He had rescued them from the sea, so why would he not send them home?
The old master was troubled, but he could not bring himself to talk about those feelings. He did not even want to bring up one word about the past.
“Relax, even if Ava has my equity transfer agreement in hand, as long as Joseph is there, she would not be able not to act on her whim!”
Sasha had to agree with that point. Joseph was a capable person, and his presence was reassuring. That was not something her son could do. She could not help but feel jealous of his ability sometimes. Hence, she felt wronged and in grief in the past few years. When something came up, they could only rely on the most capable person. It was a wise move for the old master to hand the company to Joseph. She was uncomfortable with the idea even though she knew it was a good move.
“Dad, it’s windy outside. You should go back to the room and rest.”
It had scared her when the old master had collapsed on the yacht for no reason at all. If Michael had not brought a doctor with her, she dared not imagine what would have happened to her father then.
There were a few other people on the island—doctors, nurses, and several bodyguards. However, they did not seem to be monitoring them. Furthermore, Michael made it clear that if they knew how to maneuver the speedboat, his people would escort them back to the mainland.
It merely meant that they had to drive the boat themselves, and Michael’s people would escort them in the journey and offer help in case of any emergency. However, if they got lost amidst the vast ocean or had no idea how to drive a speedboat, then his people would not help them either. Michael did not limit their freedom. They could go anywhere they wanted to, so it was their problem if they could not do it.
“I’ll try to figure out how to manage the speedboat,” Sasha said.
Grandpa Garcia shook his head. “Forget it, don’t bother. Let’s believe in Joseph!”
Joseph should be able to find them soon. It was Monday. At that hour, whatever plan that Ava had would have already happened. The old master was troubled, and he did not seem eager to return home.
“As long as my children are well, I will be at ease. Even if it means I have to live on this deserted island forever.”
As long as Michael decided not to avenge his family, he could make atonement there.
…
“It hurts.” Elena moaned and sat up from the bed.
Her forehead hurt so much; she raised her hand and touched it. Sure enough, there was a big bulge. Fortunately, it was not an open wound.
Where was she? She looked around and noticed that she was in an unfamiliar room. Did Ava’s people catch her after her car crashed? However, her limbs were not restricted.
The room was not big, but it was decorated exquisitely and was comfortable.
If she had fallen into Ava’s hands, she would not receive such good treatment. Ava wanted her dead, and it was the same at any time! Where was she? Who had brought her back? How long had she been asleep?
Someone had treated the big bulge on her head, and they had even applied medication to it. She still felt a little dizzy, but that was not a big issue. She got down from the bed and saw a water dispenser by the bed. After a moment of hesitation, she walked over and poured herself a glass of water and drank it all at once.
After that, she put down the glass and walked to the door; she listened quietly to the environment outside for a few moments. She could hear the strong and noisy wind outside the room. There was also a faint seawater smell in the room. Where was she? She turned the knob carefully, but she did not expect the place to be unlocked. She pulled the handle, and the door was opened.
Beach! She was on a beach. It was a clean beach, too; the sand was fine, not even a little trash could be seen. It was not a tourist spot or a place where many people had visited.
Where was she?
Elena went out of the room and realized that the outside differed from what she had imagined.
There were a few houses around. Someone else must be there as well, but it did not seem as if people watched over her. Did they mean to give her that much freedom? Suddenly, she saw two figures in the distance. When she realized who they were, her breathing labored and lit up. She ran toward them eagerly.
“Grandfather Garcia!” No! Not Grandfather Garcia! He was her real grandfather! Even if there was no hard evidence, even if it were still speculation, she was confident that he was her grandfather!
“Grandfather!”
Elena almost cried when she saw him. He had missed her grandfather dearly, and she had been looking for him for so long!
“Grandfather! Grandfather!”
Elena’s footsteps were clumsy, and the sand did not make it easy for her. She had only run for about a dozen steps before she stumbled on the sandy beach, but she got up immediately. She did not even bother to brush off the sand on her body, and she continued to run toward the two people on the beach.
Both her grandfather and her youngest aunt were still alive, and they were safe and sound! What could be more gratifying than that? Perhaps Ava had taken many things away from her grandfather, perhaps Michael and Ava had some unspeakable secrets together, perhaps Eldest Young Master Williams had switched the hair samples, but none of those were important anymore!
What was important was that her grandfather was still alive. Her grandfather was all well! Elena rushed toward him to hug the old master tightly.
“Grandfather, it’s so good that you are fine!”
She sobbed uncontrollably!
“Everyone was worried about you. It’s great news that you’re fine!”
