Chapter 407 Sooner or Later, They Would Have to Respect Her

Book:The Reborn Wife Published:2024-5-1

Every sentence out of Ava’s mouth was about how the old master could die! Those poisonous words broke Joseph’s heart even though they were only words! His grandfather was a great man, why would he run into an evil con-woman like Ava?
However, the things that Ava said made him loosen his grip on her neck.
It was true that his grandfather had heart disease, but not many people knew about it. However, Ava had lived with their family for more than a month, so she had been in contact with almost everyone. Even if they did not tell her anything, she could still have overheard about it. Even Sasha was her accomplice!
Their family unit used to be so peaceful and calm until that woman arrived, and then everything had changed!
Joseph hated himself! How could he have been so blind to believe that con-woman? Why did he not go through a few more tests before they acknowledged her as one of their own? He did not foresee that someone would tamper with the one test that they had done.
He felt so foolish!
“Eldest Cousin Brother, you don’t need to blame yourself. Anyone would have fallen for a trap like this, don’t you think?”
Who would have thought that they had orchestrated everything so perfectly? He had gone to the lab to follow through with the test himself. How would anyone believe that it had been falsified?
“Eldest Cousin Brother, I quite admire you. You’re so talented, so patient. If it weren’t for the fact that I like Michael, I think I might even fall for you.”
“Shut up!”
That shameless, poisonous witch!
Ava put her hands on his wrists to caress him.
It was like something poisonous had touched him, and Joseph immediately retracted his hands. He did not want to have any contact with her.
“What’s wrong with me? Don’t say that I’m not pretty enough.” Ava was a little angry. Why was he so gentle with Elena when they were on the bed together? He had been so gentle when he put his arms around her in the foyer!
Why could she not even touch him?
Joseph had no time for her nonsense; he was in a terrible mood!
“Tell me what the hell do you want?” It did not seem like he could tell his grandfather the truth, but it would not stay hidden for long. Ava knew that Joseph would take his next step soon.
They had known that everything was a sham; there was no way to put that genie back into the bottle.
She smiled and said, “I don’t want much—five billion would do. Eldest Cousin Brother, you must have that much, right?”
“I don’t!” He was the old master’s most trusted man, but he had done his work obediently for the company. He had never taken anything for his personal gain. He did have equities, but he did not cash them. He only received dividends for them every year. Contrary to popular beliefs, he did not have a fortune.
“Eldest Cousin Brother, don’t be so modest. Garcia Corporation pays you so much dividend every year, how could you not have five billion dollars?” Ava knew his finances very well, of course.
“It’s a dividend, and they don’t pay me in one go. Not to mention that I can’t cash out my shares either.” It would be impossible for him to sell his Garcia Corporation shares! “Two billion, that is the best I can do for you!” He kept his face grim as if there was no room for negotiation. “Also, I need time to put it together.”
“Very well, five days.” Ava spread out her fair fingers to indicate the number. “Don’t even think about bargaining anymore. Five days is my limit! Two billion, and not a cent less! If you can’t get me the money in five days, it means that you are plotting against me. In that case, I’d just have to tell the old master everything before it’s too late.”
“Don’t you dare!” Joseph yelled.
“Say no more, five days!” Ava insisted.
Joseph glared at her once again before he pursed his lips and pushed the door open and left. He had agreed to the five-day agreement.
As she watched him walk away, Ava sighed before she made a call.
“I’ve done what you asked for, and I gave him five days. But I’m pretty sure that Joseph won’t get me the money.”
The person on the other end of the line was silent for a moment before he said, “Eldest Young Master Garcia is not someone who would compromise so easily. He will spend the next five days trying his best to inform the old man everything.”
The banquet would happen the next day. As long as they went through with that, it would be even harder to dissuade Old Master Garcia—and the rest of the City L business community.
The person on the other end of the line thought for a moment and said, “He’s trying to buy time. You must think of a way today to persuade the old man to transfer the shares to you.”
“I mentioned it last time. but it seemed like his warmth toward me had cooled.”
Whenever Ava was not around Michael, it seemed like she had a higher than average IQ. She had used various ways to persuade the old master to transfer those shares to her, but it seemed like he was no longer that fond of her. It was not as if she could not sense that he was upset when she asked about it. However, she had no choice. The longer they wait, the more of their plans could be revealed.
The old man had agreed to transfer the shares to her on Monday, so if she were to go to him again that day, she was afraid that he would get suspicious of her.
“He’s spoiling me rotten because he has a deep sense of guilt toward Harley. That old fart doesn’t really care about me as much as everyone thinks he does.” She could tell that the old man loved Elena a lot more than her. Every time Elena appeared, he would focus his attention on her. He hardly ever looked at his own granddaughter. Was it because blood was thicker than water? Had he subconsciously liked Elena more because of that?
How funny!
“I don’t care what methods you use. You must make the old man transfer the shares to you. Otherwise, you won’t be able to deal with Joseph!”
Then the person hung up.
Ava stared at the phone screen that had gradually gone dark. Her expression had darkened. It was the same every time. He had no respect for her; he would hang up whenever he wished.
For whatever it was worth, she had become the Garcia family’s granddaughter! Did she not deserve an ounce of respect? Those people thought that they could still order her around! They treated her like she was nothing!
She did not deserve that kind of treatment!
Eventually, they would learn that Ava was not someone they could control at will!
Just as she wanted to throw her phone away as she was frustrated, the screen lit up, and it rang. Her pupils brightened when she noticed the caller ID. Her mood lifted. She quickly answered the call with a sweet voice, “Michael…”

It was true that Joseph had no plans to yield. However, he also knew that the people behind Ava would not let her wait so calmly for five days.
Even though he did not know who supported Ava, he was confident that she did not plan it all by herself.
“Check out Ava’s recent close contacts. Also, keep an eye on her every move from now onward.”
As soon as he hung up, there was an incoming call, and his expression immediately warmed.
He answered it. “Elena, where are you? I have to see you now.”
