“What did you say?”
Joseph’s expression further verified Ava’s speculation that he did not know anything about it. No wonder he dared to tell everyone that he had feelings for Elena. Ava was overjoyed. The misunderstanding had helped her immensely—she had a great hand!
“Talia only has one daughter; it’s either her or me.” Ava swept her hair upward. She loved to show her beauty in front of men. Unfortunately, Joseph only looked at her with irritation.
“Elena is not my grandfather’s granddaughter; none of you are.” He had a serious expression on his face as he said, “Don’t waste your time. I will definitely tell Grandfather about this; you won’t get a single cent from him!”
“How do you know that Elena is not his granddaughter? Did you do the test yourself?” Perhaps Elena did not know that as well. Otherwise, they would have denied it when everyone thought they had a relationship with each other.
That was an issue a hundred times more serious than other conspiracies in a family! The fact that they did not care to explain was because they did not think it was necessary.
“Did you not hear what I said? We needed a girl who’s biologically related to the old master so that we would have a convincing result.”
“I only needed to show up for the test. It was Elena’s blood that we tested with the old master.” Ava leaned back on the seat and looked at him with the corner of her eyes. “If you don’t believe it, you can ask Elena. Someone had run into her at the university and caused her to bleed.”
The more Joseph listened to her, the harder he cringed. Then he took out his cell phone and dialed Elena’s number.”
“What’s up, Brother Joseph? Did you go to the hospital?” Elena’s voice sounded like there was some concealed excitement in it. They had decided that he would bring Old Master Garcia’s and Ava’s hair to the hospital for a DNA test. Joseph tightened his grip on the phone.
“Brother Joseph?” He kept silent, and Elena was immediately on high alert. “Who are you? Why did you call me on Brother Joseph’s phone?”
“Elena, it is me.” Joseph’s voice calmed her worries.
“Brother Joseph, what’s going on? Where are you now?”
“I’m…outside.” He swallowed the word ‘hospital’. After he glanced at Ava, he said, “Elena, do you remember, a month or so ago, you were injured by someone?”
Elena tried her best to recall. An injury? Maybe not.
However, after a few moments, she frowned and said, “Somebody…ran into me, and I bled a little. Is that considered an injury?” That was probably the only time she was injured in the school, and it had happened a month or so ago. Someone had also beaten her, but that was two or three ago. She had some peaceful days after that.
“Brother Joseph, what is going on? Is there something…”
“Nothing, really.” Joseph felt a little anxious. Why was she so sure that she was not Old Master Garcia’s granddaughter?
“Actually, if you want to know the truth, you can use her DNA for a test later.” Ava was thrilled as she listened to their conversation.
After they hung up, she smiled and asked, “So? Still don’t believe it?”
Joseph was silent. That was a lot of information that he needed to digest. Even though he was shocked, he managed to keep his cool.
Ava placed her hands on the steering wheel and turned her head to look at him. She pursed her lips and asked, “I bet you’re thinking that you could explain all that to Old Master Garcia at a later time, and your main task now is to expose my true identity. Right?”
Joseph kept a straight face as he looked at her. That was his plan, indeed. Explanations could wait; he would have to expose Ava’s disguise and plans first. However, he knew that Ava must have a trump card since she had dared to look for him that morning.
Why was she so daring?
“Eldest Cousin Brother, you must have been in a rush this morning and had no chance to watch the news. I mean the entertainment news, of course!” Ava laughed.
Joseph kept his cool and checked on Weibo on his phone. His face immediately darkened after that.
“Did you orchestrate all this?” He was never interested in tabloid tidbits, so he would not read it in the morning. However, the same headline had exploded that morning. Old Master Garcia had finally found his biological granddaughter, and Eldest Young Master Williams would even get engaged to the girl’s adoptive sister too! It looked like the families would get closer than ever!
Old Master Garcia had made the statement personally! He had met a group of journalists on his way to breakfast, and they took the chance to ask about Ava and Elena. The old master was so happy that he told them everything!
It was quite normal that the journalists received tips about Ava, but tips about him and Elena?
Joseph clenched his fists—that woman is extremely hateful!
However, how could she be there with him and controlled the situation with Old Master Garcia at the same time? She must not have done that by herself.
“You…you conspired with my aunt?”
That damned woman! Even Garcia family’s Second Madam had worked with her?
“Well, ‘birds die for food’, it’s all about benefits, really. I don’t think there’s any problem with your aunt.” Ava laughed happily. Sasha was a smart person, and it was an absolute delight to work with an intelligent person.
“Look, the whole world is sending you their best wishes.”
All the major headlines featured a huge photo of Elena. Eldest Young Master Garcia, Joseph, had gotten together with the Garcia family’s long-lost granddaughter’s adoptive sister! Even Old Master Garcia and Second Madam Garcia had personally verified it. The entire business world in City L had known about the news in an hour.
“Eldest Cousin Brother, do you think that Old Master Garcia would get so angry that he would die as he vomits blood if he were to find out that Elena is his real granddaughter?
“YOU WITCH!”
Joseph reached for her neck. He squinted with murderous intent in his eyes. However, she was not even afraid. She knew that he would not do it.
“I heard that Grandfather has heart problems. Even though he looks healthy, he won’t be able to handle any exciting news.” Otherwise, they would not have brought her back so hastily, and nobody had dared to be rude to her. They did not want to upset the old man in case he would have a heart attack.
“If you tell him that I’m an impostor and that you’ve murdered me, and that he had unwittingly announced about the relationship that his real granddaughter has with his grandson, do you think he’ll get a heart attack and die on the spot?”
