Chapter 367 Why Was It Such a Taboo for Him

Book:The Reborn Wife Published:2024-5-1

Elena stood in the yard as she watched the cars left. Her beautiful eyes had mixed emotions in them.
Michael wanted to go back to the living room, but the girl was beside herself. She had stared at the WongRiver Pavilion’s entrance for a long time. He was not pleased with that, so he asked, “Are you trying to be lazy?”
Elena suddenly snapped back to reality and took one last glance at the entrance. Old Master Garcia’s car had already left.
She bit her lower lip and turned around to trail behind Michael.
They were not done with breakfast yet, so Michael sat down, and she stood behind him.
“Did I say that you can’t eat?”
‘Maid? She really plays that part well! But who asked her to be a maid?’
Elena looked at him. Did he mean that she could sit down and eat with him?
She did not know what to do. However, she was glad that Old Master Garcia had left. She did not want him to know about her messy relationship with Michael.
If he were to know about it, he would probably be disappointed with her.
She sat down next to Michael, and the maids immediately served her breakfast.
Elena did not say a word and quietly finished her food. As soon as Michael put down his chopsticks, she did the same and stood up.
“Eldest Young Master Williams, I’ll see you off.”
“Did I say that I’m going out?” His words made her panic.
‘Not going out? Don’t tell me he’s staying here. Why is he staying home?’
“Follow me upstairs.” Elena’s entire body stiffened when she heard that, and her legs started to feel weak again.
Eldest Young Master Williams was probably the only man who could scare a woman like that.
It was still early in the morning; why did he want to go upstairs?
In any case, she trailed behind him. As they entered the room, every cell in her body screamed for help!
Michael went to his desk, and Elena stopped five paces from him. She did not dare to get too close to him.
“Are you afraid of me?” He did not turn his head to speak to her.
Elena did not know how to answer that question. In fact, it did not seem like it needed an answer.
“When’s your exam?”
“Exam?” Eldest Young Master Williams’s mind worked too fast, and it took Elena a few seconds to catch up to him.
“In a month,” she immediately said.
“If you don’t get at least 90 points in your papers, you will double your stay here.” Then Michael took his laptop bag and left the room. He had looked so calm and steady from his back profile.
‘Didn’t he say he wasn’t going out?!’ It was so hard to fathom that man’s mind.
Elena wanted to see him off, so she followed him like a maid. However, Eldest Young Master Williams seemed to be irritated by her presence. “Stay away from me, you’re so annoying!”
She immediately stopped in her tracks, and she looked upset about it.
‘Did he think that I like to follow him? He was the one who forced me to serve him! What the heck?’
On the other hand, it was pretty difficult for her to score at least 90 points in her subjects since she frequently missed classes.
Elena sighed and got ready for her revisions after Michael had left. Then she noticed a few books on his desk. They had looked familiar to her.
She walked to them and picked one up. Were those not her textbooks for that semester? Why did Eldest Young Master Williams have them on his desk?
She flipped through a few pages. Elena could not believe her eyes—who had made those notes?
All the main points that she should study for her exam were clearly marked on every page. The handwriting was not pretty, but they looked extremely familiar.
That was…Lois’s handwriting! Elena immediately ran downstairs with the books.
At the yard, the Maybach drove out of the gate and soon vanished from sight. He had left.
It looked like he had asked someone to have Lois make notes for her and sent the books over!
Lois was the class monitor, so she never fell behind in any subject, no matter how busy she was. The notes she made were so much better than hers too.
The only thing Elena did not understand was why Eldest Young Master Williams would do that for her. She held the books against her chest as her heart felt a little melancholic. She looked at the empty yard with mixed emotions.
She stood there for a while before she went back upstairs.
She received a call from Caleb as soon as she got back to her room. “Elena, where are you today?”
“I…” Elena hesitated for a second before she said, “I’m at my friend’s place. What’s the matter, Caleb? Did you find something new?”
“There was no record of Grace at the airport’s immigration.” Caleb had searched all the databases once he received her news. However, up to that point, he could not find anything about Grace.
“You said that Grace never left the country, so that seems to be the truth. But Elena, they must have pretty some skillful hackers on their side. Otherwise, there’s no reason why the information I have does not match.”
“Hmm.” Elena nodded to herself.
They had to have some experts on her side as they were even able to hack the hospital database to change Old Madam Williams’s DNA records. They would not have been able to do that otherwise.
“Caleb, Ava is suddenly the granddaughter of City L’s Garcia family. I wonder what Grace had done behind my dad’s back. Could you please find out for me?”
She had wanted to ask the question, but Ava was present. Elena felt that she was connected to the issue somehow. However, she was reluctant to investigate the matter. She had gotten Caleb in danger when she asked him to investigate her grandmother’s case. She would rather know more about it before she got her friends involved.
Before Old Master Garcia left, she took the opportunity to ask for Joseph’s phone number. She decided to investigate the issue personally.
City L, however, was too far from where she was. She was also afraid that Michael would not let her leave.
It was not the time to investigate that yet.
She studied in her room the whole morning before she took a break for lunch at noon. She felt like she wanted to take a walk outside, not at WongRiver Pavilion, but the Williams’s backyard instead.
Michael did not say that she had to stay at WongRiver Pavilion.
She got out of the main entrance and drove a buggy toward the Williams’s backyard. She stopped at the garden where the lake had been. There were artificial hills, meadows, and woods there.
She stood at the place where her grandmother had died.
There was a road there, and not far from it, there used to be a lake. Why did Old Master Williams fill up the lake immediately after the incident? He had been through so many conflicts in his life, why could he not confront his wife’s passing?
Why did he take her death so badly, and why did he fill the lake so quickly?
