“Ashton, find out where Grace is right now.”
Henry knew who she was; she was Elena’s father, Henry’s wife. It was natural for Henry to know a little bit more about the Garcias than other people.
A few moments later, Ashton put down his phone and frowned. “Second Young Master, Grace had gone abroad.”
“She is overseas?” If she had something to do with the incident, it made perfect sense for her to go abroad.
“Yes, she left this afternoon.”
Ashton told them the news that he had just received.
“First, she went to City L. Then she continued to New Zealand, but there was no record of her entry into the country.”
In other words, she had gone into hiding, and they had not been able to find out where she was. Someone extraordinary must have helped her with the plan.
“She must have something to do with this!” Lois suddenly stood up; she was disconcerted with the news. “Layla’s fall must be related to her. Second Young Master, shall we call the police?”
“This matter is already under investigation.”
Ashton knew that they were anxious, but without any evidence, they could not simply accuse Grace. They had to plan their next step. After all, the image that Caleb found was not enough to prove that the incident was related to Grace. They must not have been the only people on the seventh floor. Many other people were there to check out the renovation for the upcoming event.
They had no evidence to pin the blame on Grace. Nevertheless, it seemed suspicious that she would go abroad on the same day. Elena balled her fists, got up, and walked to the elevator.
Henry chased after her and pulled her back. “Are you going to find Ava?”
Grace was Ava’s mother, so she must have something to do with the matter as well.
“There was no reason for them to target Layla.”
Elena looked at Henry and bit her lip. “If that was Grace, then, the matter is definitely related to Ava.”
After Layla’s accident, she had tried hard to suppress her emotions, but she could no longer keep them bottled in her mind.
Layla was typically aloof from the events that had nothing to do with her. What could have possibly threatened Ava for Layla to suffer such a miserable fate? In Elena’s previous life, Layla had been kidnapped, gang-raped, and killed, and that was all because of Ava. In her new life, however, Layla had an accident, and Ava’s mother was at the scene. Elena knew that her speculations were ungrounded, but she had a feeling that it must have been related to Ava! She had to know where Grace was; she would just have to find her and interrogate her.
“Elena, don’t be impulsive.”
“No, Elena’s not impulsive. We must find out the truth about this!” Lois also clenched her fists tightly.
No matter what, they must first locate Grace. Henry knew that it would not be easy to stop them as they were best friends, and they did not even know if Layla would survive the ordeal. If Grace had something to do with Layla’s fall, they might even have the urge to kill her! He might be even more impulsive if he was in their shoes! The group of friends departed hastily, and they left the dazed Blair and Rosalie behind.
“Look at that Elena. She said that we don’t care about Layla, what about herself?”
Rosalie looked at the empty area near the elevator disdainfully.
“Didn’t she run away too? How dare she accuse us! Is she really your daughter’s friend?”
Blair had no idea what had happened. He could not stop anyone from leaving!
“Just a group of unscrupulous people. I thought they were good to Layla, but I was wrong! Bah!”
Rosalie suddenly recalled something. “What did they just say? They are going to see Ava? Ava is now with Eldest Young Master Williams, isn’t she?”
“How would I know?” Blair never cared about the gossip.
On the other hand, Rosalie had paid close attention to it. The Garcia sisters had fought for Eldest Young Master Williams. How could she miss such sensational news in Bentson?
Suddenly, she smiled. “Even though Second Young Master Sharp is powerful, he is still not as good as Eldest Young Master Williams.”
“Since we can’t get close to Second Young Master Sharp, then, we could try getting close to Eldest Young Master Williams.”
She took out her phone and flipped through her address book for a useful contact.
“What are you doing?” Blair frowned.
He was not in a good mood as Layla was still in the ICU.
“Something useful, of course. Unlike you, who are just rotting away.”
Rosalie had always looked down on her husband. She scoffed and dialed the number.
“Hello, Mrs. Yang. Do you know Miss Ava from the Garcia family?”
“Oh, nothing much. I just want to talk to Miss Ava about something related to Elena. Hmm, good things, of course…”
…
Elena finally found Ava in a shopping mall. Old Master Garcia was resting in the lounger area, and Ava was in the clothing store by herself.
“Where is Grace?” Elena’s eyes blazed with anger.
Layla’s incident had made her completely irrational. However, Ava was not surprised to see her.
She glanced at the man behind her and raised her lips into a faint smile. “Why? Are you here to pick a fight?”
“Where is Grace?” Lois wanted to lunge at her, but a bodyguard stopped her.
Ava might have been there by herself, but Michael’s bodyguards had accompanied her.
Ewan was also there, and he personally stopped Henry. “Second Young Master Sharp, let the two sisters sort things out themselves.”
When women got into an argument, they would most probably quarrel about it. Even if they got into a fight, things might not turn ugly. The men could stop them if a fight were to break out between them. They should not get involved if they could help it.
Henry looked at the two girls. Even though Ewan did not help the situation, his people were close by. It seemed like no one was at a disadvantage. Nonetheless, he was worried about Elena, who seemed to have lost her mind.
“Elena!” Lois wanted to join the sisters, but someone stopped her. Luacs was about to use force as more bodyguards appeared in an instant.
Caleb took his hand and whispered, “Luacs, don’t be impulsive. We would lose if we were to start a fight.”
No one knew what Ava and her mother did to Layla. However, if the friends hurt anyone, everyone would see that they were at fault. They could get into trouble and even risked being charged. It was foolish to act rashly at such a time!
