“I have some urgent matters to attend to, so I have to leave for now. Elena turned back before they reached the school gates.
Layla was anxious about that. “Elena, didn’t we agree to return to the Sharp Corporation after our class?”
“Yeah, we have a pretty tight schedule.” Lois also had a worried expression on her face.
Without Elena, the September Media’s press interview would collapse!
“Second Young Master Sharp won’t listen to us. What do we do if you can’t make it in time?”
Elena looked at the time and pondered for a moment before she said, “I’ll be back in time.” However, she felt uneasy about the situation.
When she left the Williams’s mansion the previous night, there was still so much vagueness and indecisiveness about her conversation with the old madam. It seemed like the old madam still had a lot to tell her.
However, Ava’s appearance had cut short Old Madam Williams’s conversation. Did the old madam want to finish what she had tried to tell her the previous night?
“Elena…” Layla was really worried.
It was a momentous day for them. Layla did not know what had happened to Elena. However, if she could not make it back in time…
“Trust me, I’ll be back in time for the interview.”
Elena hailed a cab by the side of the road and got into the car.
“Lois, what should we do?” Layla looked at Lois. Her anxiety continued to increase.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure everything will be fine.”
Lois was very upset too. It was very worrying that Elena had to leave at that time. However, anxiety would not help them.
“Let’s get to class.”

When Elena arrived at the Mu house, the old madam was not in her room. She heard that she was by the lake at the back of the house. Elena did not dwell on that as she hurried to meet her.
However, she was a little cautious before she reached the lake. She asked the servant to find out if Ava had left the house that morning, and then she was on her way to see Old Madam Williams.
The old madam was enjoying the refreshing breeze by the lakeside with Piper by her side. When she saw Elena, Piper smiled and said, “Old Madam… Miss Elena is here.”
The Old Madam turned, and she looked relieved when she saw Elena. “Elena!”
“Grandmother, did you ask me to come by today?” Elena was still a little suspicious about the message. It could be Ava’s ploy to get her into trouble. She might not be the only one that Ava had wanted to hurt.
Maybe she had read too many novels and seen too many movies; she did not discount the possibility that Ava might frame her for harming the old madam.
However, she was relieved when the old lady nodded. It seemed like she had over-thought it.
“Did Ava… give you any trouble last night?” She did not want to speak ill of others in front of the elderly. However, Ava had been too arrogant.
“No, and she apologized to me this morning, too.” The old madam looked relieved when she said that. She had been very anxious and cautious the entire night, so she did not expect that to happen that morning.
“She apologized to you?” Could that woman admit her own mistakes? It did not seem possible.
However, Elena still asked, “What did she say?”
“She…” The old madam pondered about that a moment, but she did not answer immediately. She merely sighed.
“Elena, I have treated you unfairly these past few days. The old master will be back today, and I will personally explain it to him.” She could not avoid it anymore. She knew her body; she did not have much time left. The old master would know about it eventually, so she might as well be honest with him.
“Grandmother, what did you want to tell the old master?” Did it have anything to do with her? Otherwise, why would she ask Elena to meet her?
“Elena, you are my…”
The old madam looked as if she was in deep thoughts again. Then she turned to Piper.
“Would you please bring us some finger food?” Piper knew that the old madam had wanted to speak to Elena alone, so she nodded and turned to leave.
After her maid left, the old madam took Elena’s hand and said, “Elena, I don’t know if your mother has mentioned anything about this to you.”
“I don’t remember much about my mother. I don’t really have any memories of her.”
Elena sat on the bench beside the old madam and stared at her. “Grandmother, did you know my mother?”
“Of course, I did. You look exactly like your mother. When I saw you last night, I almost thought that …”
It was too painful for her to think about what had happened the previous night! Fortunately, Ava finally grew a conscience and was honest with her that morning.
“Elena, your mother…” the old madam paused, “Your mother was my… Elena?”
The old madam’s expression suddenly changed as if something was amiss.
Elena looked at her. “Grandmother, what’s wrong? What does my mother have to do with you? Grandmother… Grandmother! What’s wrong?”
The old madam’s wheelchair started to roll backward toward the lake. Elena lunged forward to pull the wheelchair, but she did not have enough strength to do it.
“Grandmother!”
“Elena, Elena…” The old lady almost fainted from fear and could only grip the wheelchair’s hand rests tightly.
Elena had already grabbed the edge of the wheelchair, but it was too fast, and she lost her grip just as the wheelchair rolled into the lake.
“Argh!” Piper screamed from a distance. “Old Madam!”
Elena did not even hesitate when she jumped into the lake.
However, the wheelchair had sunk toward the center of the lake. She almost caught the old madam’s hand several times, but she could not keep her hold on her.
Elena could only continue to try, but alas, she could not even swim.
She felt dizzy and could not catch her breath after a short while.
“Old Madam! Help! Somebody help!” Piper screamed as she reached the lakeside but did not see either of them surfaced.
“Old Madam and Young Madam have fallen into the lake! Help! Help!”
Several bodyguards rushed over there immediately, and they managed to pull Elena out of the lake.
However, the old madam had been in the water for too long. When they rescued her, she was already unconscious.
Both of them were rushed to the medical room. Ryan was there, and after he was sure that Elena was alright, he focused his attention in his efforts to save the old madam.
However, the old lady had been underwater for far too long. He was powerless to help her.
“What happened? What happened?” Old Master Williams had rushed to the medical room when he got off the helicopter. Unfortunately, Ryan only had bad news for him. Old Master Williams then marched into the room silently and without any expression on his face.
Michael was there next, as well as the rest of the Williams family. Everyone squeezed into the medical room, and the entire medical room was filled with members from the Williams family.
Elena woke up and immediately wanted to see the old madam, but the family had kicked her out of the room.
Ava also rushed to the medical room. She cried and laid next to the old madam’s body. Everyone there cried their hearts out for their loss.
When she heard their mournful wails, Elena felt as if she had fallen into an ice cellar.
The old madam was gone; she was really gone!
Elena blamed herself for her incompetence! She would be alive if she could pull her out in time. It was her fault. Why could she not save her? Why?
The door of the medical room burst open. Someone rushed out and slapped Elena in her face.
“Why did you do this to Grandmother? Why? Grandmother is dead! Are you happy now? Grandmother is dead!”
