They had already reached Jiang University, and Ava could not stop them no matter how much she tried to do that.
She felt a little helpless. She could only release her grip from Old Master Garcia’s arm and straighten her clothes. Then, she took out a mirror and reapplied her makeup.
“Our Ava is beautiful enough. She doesn’t need to use these things.”
The Garcia family had been in the pharmaceutical business for generations. The items they produced were not limited to medicines but various cosmeceutical products as well.
The family thought that cosmetic items would always damage one’s skin, so they were not too fond of them. They also did not approve it when women applied heavy makeup on their faces; it was a habit that they had had since years ago.
Ava said, “Grandfather, no girl goes out without wearing makeup now. It’s etiquette.”
Old Master Garcia said nothing. He nodded and maintained his smile. Even though he loathed cosmetics and felt uncomfortable when he smelled them, he had no choice but to accept them because his dear granddaughter liked it.
A group of people from the university was there to greet them personally.
Ava had not wanted to go there that day, but when she saw how the people from the university greeted them, it had appealed to her vanity. The university had allowed their car to drive into the compound, so Ava felt like a noble and beautiful princess when she got off the vehicle.
No one knew about her new identity, but they concurred that she must have been someone important.
“What’s going on? Has Ava become Old Master Garcia’s woman now?”
“Wasn’t she with Eldest Young Master Williams? Did she get together with another man so quickly? And an old one at that!”
“Come on, have you ever seen Eldest Young Master Williams publicize his relationship with her? It must have only been her wishful thinking. Eldest Young Master Williams never reciprocated her interest.”
“Sounds about right. Maybe she went with an old man because Eldest Young Master Williams didn’t want her.”
“Look, she’s as proud as a peacock! She even feels proud after she got together with an old man!”
Ava was oblivious to everyone else’s thoughts, but she loved the attention. She could care less about what they said about her. They must have been jealous of her anyway.
“What’s going on? Why are there so many people over there at the plaza?” the butler asked when he noticed the commotion.
The university director smiled and said, “It’s our university’s bazaar. If you’re interested, please feel free to go and have a look, Old Master Garcia.”
“Oh? It looks like your university has a lot of activities.”
The old man loved the hustle and bustle of activities. When he saw the students, he imagined that Ava would participate as well.
“Let’s go and have a look!”
Ava had no interest in such a bazaar. She looked down on those so-called branded items that the students could only afford to get. With her social position, she could have gotten anything her heart desired.
She did not understand her grandfather’s thoughts, as well. It was obvious that he was not interested in those things, so why would he want to see them?
“Grandfather, the sun is a bit strong today,” Ava reminded him.
There were too many people, and the sun was too hot. They had put on extra layers when they went out in the morning. A person was prone to sweat under such weather.
She had a face full of makeup, and even though they were all from good brands and waterproof, they would still look ugly if they were smudged.
“It’s okay, a little bit of sun is good for our body.” How would an old man understand a young lady’s mind?
The old butler, Uncle Ding, was also particularly interested in the gadgets in front of him. The two older men began to choose between the items that the two boys had displayed in their stall.
How absurd! They were like children! They did not look like a wealthy family at all.
Ava felt a little disgusted, so she said, “Grandpa, I’ll head over there for a while.”
The sun was so intense that it could cause her wrinkles to come out.
Furthermore, the old man seemed really eager to have a meal with her family as a token of gratitude.
She had to inform Henry and Grace first. Elena should not know about their dinner as they did not want her there.
The old man and the old butler continued to look at the items on sale. Ava headed to the rest area in the distance and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
It was her university anyway, so she was not worried if anything were to happen to the old man.
The two men had bought many novel and exciting things without even asking about the price. Joseph had followed them while they enjoyed the bazaar, and he had no idea how to deal with those two childish old souls.
He asked someone for two big bags and packed in everything in it as they walked. It did not take long for those bags to be filled up.
“It’s her!” The old man’s eyes lit up suddenly as he pointed at a girl not far from them.
“Old Ding, look! Do you see that little girl?”
Uncle Ding looked up and recognized the girl at once.
“It’s her!” Uncle Ding looked surprised. “Oh, I didn’t expect her to be a student at this university too.”
Joseph looked in that direction and immediately spotted the girl. She was with two other girls as they bargained with a female student at the stall.
Joseph’s eyes were filled with glee. He obviously knew what the two old guys had planned to do.
Sure enough, the two men had hurried over to the girls.
Joseph smiled at the university’s higher-ups behind him, “About the donation, just talk to my assistant. Let the old man have his fun here, there’s no need to keep us company.”
Of course, the person knew what he meant—he did not want them to trail after Old Master Garcia.
However, they were quite surprised that Old Master Garcia would be so interested in their bazaar. The people from the university nodded. “In that case, we shall prepare lunch for you. Please tell Old Master Garcia that we will see you for lunch!”
Joseph nodded at them. After they left, he quickened his pace to catch up to the two older men.
“Little girl, little girl! Do you remember me?”
Old Master Garcia went to Elena and held her hand. “Remember me?”
Elena blinked as the old man had caught her off-guard. However, the old man looked kind and friendly, so she was not repulsed when he touched her.
Who was he, though? Elena was a little puzzled.
Uncle Ding immediately said, “Peanut kernel, peanut kernel!”
After the brief initial shock, Elena recalled everything at once.
Her lips curled into a smile. “Grandfather, it’s you! How are you? Do you still feel unwell?”
“No, my old body is so strong that I can kill a tiger in two moves.”
Elena saw his ruddy face and knew that he was fine. She was really fond of that old man’s character, though.
“That’s good to hear.” As she caught sight of Joseph with two big bags in hand, Elena smiled and asked, “Your children are also students at this university?”
Maybe he was there to support their stalls?
“Yeah! Our Ava is also a student at Jiang University.” The old man looked proud.
Jiang University was the best university in Bentson.
Ava?
Elena was stunned. That name…
“Elena, who are you talking to?” Layla beckoned to her from a nearby stall. “Come and help me to choose between these two bags. Which color looks better?”
Layla got anxious and did not wait for Elena’s response. She usually called out Elena’s full name whenever she was anxious. “Elena! Hurry up!”
