The two maids immediately stood in front of Elena, and one of them said, “Young miss, the old madam is going to bed. You should leave now.”
“I’m talking to my grandmother. Who are you to dismiss me?”
Elena had no intention to disturb the old madam’s rest, but their bossy attitude irritated her. Furthermore, why did it feel as if they had put the old madam in confinement?
“Ava, I was only talking with Elena…”
“Grandmother, it’s very late now. If Grandfather knew about this, he would be outraged!”
Ava interrupted her and turned around to stare at Elena. She bellowed, “Michael had chased you out of here. You are no longer a part of this family.”
The two maids immediately approached Elena, and one of them reached out to grab her arm.
“Please, leave!”
Elena did not move. Just as the maid touched her, she clasped onto the maid’s wrist and pulled hard. The maid flipped over and landed on the ground with a loud thud.
Ava was dumbfounded. When did the b*tch learn self-defense? She was quick and fast, and she looked as if she was well-trained! Even Elena did not expect that she would remember the self-defense moves that she picked up from Luacs from her past life.
Another maid approached her and was about to push her down, Elena suddenly remembered her other training from her previous life and dodged the attack. She gripped the maid’s wrist, and she pulled with all her might. The first maid did not even have the chance to get up before the second maid fell onto her again. Her head hit the ground with a dull thud. She was in pain, and tears trickled down her face.
“I am Grandmother’s guest, even if I’m not a part of the family. Unless Grandmother wants me to leave, you have no right to send me away.”
Elena returned Ava’s shocked and angry eyes without any fear.
Ava was enraged, and she yelled, “Guards, come here and throw this wild girl out!”
Two bodyguards immediately appeared at the door. She had even bribed the bodyguards! Elena clenched her fists, and she got ready in a position to fight the two bodyguards.
The old lady was anxious, so she said, “Elena, since you do not have anything to do with Michael now, perhaps it is better if you don’t visit that often.”
The old madam had seen enough. She knew that Elena might be injured if they continued to fight like that. The old master was away for a few days, and Michael was busy with work. Ava seemed to have taken the lead in the household. Even though there were many thoughts in the old madam’s mind, she had to pick the right time to say it.
She looked at Elena and waved her hand. “I have already made things clear to you. If you are still unconvinced, tell us how much you want for compensation, and the Williams family will pay you.”
Elena was speechless when she heard that. At first, she did not understand why the old madam would say that. It took her a few seconds to catch her meaning.
“I don’t need any compensation. Since Old Madam thinks that Eldest Young Master Williams did nothing wrong, I won’t ask for anything else.”
She looked at the old lady and nodded. “I shall go now. You have a good rest.”
The old master was not around, and Eldest Young Master Williams might not have been around too. There was no advantage if the old madam continued with the fight. Elena was sure that Ava would never harm the old madam as she had no reason to do so.
The old madam looked away, so Elena could only turn around and leave.
Ava looked at Elena’s back as she moved further away. That bloody old lady had stayed up late to speak with Elena. Did she ask Elena over just to persuade her to leave Eldest Young Master Williams alone? It sounded really bizarre.
Even though it did not sound as if there was anything wrong with that idea, she still felt uneasy about it.
After Elena left, she looked at the old madam with a blank expression. “Grandmother, I’ll take you to bed.”
She looked at the two maids on the floor, and they quickly got up to deal with Piper, who usually took care of the old lady.
“Miss Ava will take care of Old Madam. You can go to bed now.”
“But,” Piper was put in an awkward position. “The old madam usually wants me to be with…”
“Do you think that the old madam would prefer you over Miss Ava?”
One of the maids snorted coldly. Then she sneered, “Who do you think you are?”
“No!” Piper shook her head and explained, “That’s not what I meant. I don’t think that way.”
“Then, go back and rest! We will call you when we need you!”
Piper had no choice but to obey them. She glanced at the hall again before she walked back to her room reluctantly.
Ava pushed the old madam’s room door open and wheeled her into the room. The moment the door closed, the old lady sensed a chill down her spine.
“Grandmother,” she heard Ava’s voice from above her head.
The old madam was startled, but she managed a stiff smile. “What is it?”
“Did you invite Elena her tonight just to persuade her to leave Michael?” Ava pushed her further into the room.
The old madam’s smile was stiff, and her fingertips tightened. She nodded. “Yes.”
“Grandma, didn’t you like that girl very much?”
“Ava…”
“Grandmother, would you let Michael get engaged with me?” Ava suddenly turned the old lady’s wheelchair around and asked her directly.
The old madam’s smile stiffened, and she looked at Ava in bewilderment. “Ava, this… Michael had just dismissed his previous engagement…”
“That’s right. Since they have canceled their contract, Michael has an empty spot by his side, has he not?”
She studied at the old madam’s face, but there was no expression on her own.
“Grandmother, didn’t you say that you want me to stay here with you all the time?”
“Ava…”
“If that’s what you wanted, then let me and Michael get engaged. I can stay and take care of you then.”
The old madam did not reply to her. Ava’s face darkened.
“Grandmother, why won’t you say something? Didn’t you say that you like me and wanted me to stay with you all the time? Were those lies?”
“How…could that be?” Ava had a somber expression on her face. She was no longer as gentle or as captivating as they first met. It was apparent that she had faked her soft and docile attitude. However, that matter was no longer relevant.
The old lady nodded and said, “Very well, I shall talk to Michael about this matter soon.”
“Grandmother, why don’t you tell him now?” Ava took the old madam’s mobile phone and shoved it into her hand.
“Grandmother, please call Michael now.”
The old madam took the phone and looked up to meet Ava’s gaze. Then she dialed Michael’s number. Just as Michael answered the other line, Ava cunningly said, “Grandmother, I forgot to tell you that I got someone to send Elena away…”
