Whenever a beauty was in danger, a hero would always come forward and save the beauty.
So when Nina slammed the stick down, she still held onto a faint sliver of hope. Maybe someone would appear out of nowhere and save her, just like how Eldest Young Master Williams had rescued Elena. Her hope completely shattered when the stick struck her wrist. The pain spread from her wrist and tore through her body, and she almost passed out from the pain.
“Argh…”
Nina’s shrieks filled the alley. Passers-by peeked into the lane just to make sure that she was not bullied. She was the one who had hurt herself. Therefore, no one meddled with the problem. Furthermore, the atmosphere in the alley did not feel right. No one wanted to approach the menacing chill.
Lois dialed the emergency line. That was the last ounce of pity that she could show to the evil woman. Elena looked worriedly at Michael’s arm. He wore a long-sleeved shirt so she could not see if there was any wound underneath the fabric. She was worried if he had suffered any internal injuries from the hard blow.
“You…”
“Come home with me.” Michael’s voice was still a little cold.
Elena froze. He was still angry about the incident during the day.
“I have a class tomorrow in the afternoon.” In the afternoon… the excuse sounded a little implausible.
Michael’s face turned somber, but he turned away and left. Layla nudged Elena’s arm. The group of people watched the Eldest Young Master Williams’s back as he walked away. The chill was so deep that it looked desolate.
“Elena…” Layla gave her another shove.
She could not stand to watch the handsome guy’s lonely figure as he walked away from them. Lois’s heart also ached for him. She could not bear to see a handsome man suffer.
“Elena, there is only one class in the afternoon. You don’t have to rush. Besides, even if there is a class in the morning, you will also make it in time. They should have a lot of drivers at home.”
The problem had nothing to do with time. It was simply because of the other woman in the house. She refused to go back and see her. However, why would she avoid her? That was her house; at least it was while she was engaged to its young master. Why should she hide from Ava, who had no apparent reason to stay there? There was no need for her to avoid Ava; she was just upset to see her there.
When Michael approached the car, Levi opened the door for him. Levi’s eyes lit up after the eldest young master got into the car.
“Young Madam!”
Finally, the young madam was willing to go home! He did not know what exactly happened between the eldest young master and the young madam. Even though they were not arguing, they had no interaction with each other at all. The cold war was the worst. It was the worst situation for those who served the eldest young master.
While the young madam was away, the eldest young master was like a demonic workaholic every single day. Everyone in the company had to follow his crazy schedule and pace. Sometimes, apart from the cleaning staff, everyone had to accompany him for overtime until the wee hours in the morning. Levi was physically and mentally strained. He might even collapse if the situation dragged on.
Elena smiled at him and peeked into the car. Michael leaned on the back of his seat with his long slender legs crossed. He looked like he was taking a rest with his eyes closed. However, his unapproachable aura drifted from the car; she could feel it seeped through the car window.
“Young Madam, please get in. Eldest Young Master is waiting for you.”
Levi knew Michael very well. He seemed to be cold, but it was a way to attract attention to himself. The eldest young master would usually take the seat on the right, but that night, he sat on the left side. He was obviously reserving the right seat for the young madam!
He had missed her, and yet he pretended that he had not. Such a shame! Levi coughed lightly to cover his embarrassment when he rebuked the eldest young master in his mind. He did not mean to criticize the eldest young master. He could not comprehend how the usually-decisive eldest young master would behave like a kid in front of the young madam. Troublesome, petty, stubborn, and… sometimes he was rather pitiful too. Perhaps the young madam was the only person in the entire world who could make the eldest young master feel so wronged.
Elena climbed into the back seat before Levi closed the door for her and returned to the driver’s seat. Then they were on their way home. The two passengers in the backseat were silent again.
Michael flicked his index finger, an indication that he wanted to smoke. However, he suppressed his urge to smoke as he knew that she did not like the smell of cigarettes.
Sometime later, he glanced at her. Unexpectedly, Elena looked at him at the same time.
Michael’s face was cold like ice, but he tried to hide his anticipation. He asked in a reproachful tone, “You drank?”
“Yeah.” Elena nodded. “We won the competition today. We were elated and decided to celebrate..”
Disgruntled, the man raised his eyebrows. “Are you that happy to work with Sharp Corporation?”
She did not say anything as she did not know what to say. Even though they had not signed a contract with Sharp Corporation, it should be done within a few days. Of course, she was happy. She was careful not to express her excitement in front of Eldest Young Master Williams so that he would not get angry. Michael was a little sulky, but he managed to control his emotion. It was rare for them to be together, so he did not want to mess up the peaceful atmosphere with silly thoughts.
“How much did you drink?” he asked.
“Not much.”
Elena was a little nervous. She always felt uneasy around him, especially whenever there were only the two of them. Even though Levi was driving in the front seat, they were the only two people in the back. Furthermore, Levi never talked much while he drove. She felt like there were only two of them in the car. She did not want to quarrel with him. She felt terrible whenever they fought.
“You… also drank?” He had a strong alcoholic smell on his body. She smelled it when they were in the alley, but she had not had the opportunity to ask.
“I was rejected by my fiancée. I was in a bad mood, so I drank some wine to unwind.”
Elena was speechless. She was astonished by his blunt remark, and she had no reply for him. It was hard to hold a conversation with Eldest Young Master Williams. His responses often caught her off guard.
She looked out of the window as Michael stared at the side of her face. “Don’t you have anything to tell me?”
“Drink less in the future.” She did not turn around.
“Hmm!”
Elena rubbed her eyebrows awkwardly and tilted her head to look at him.
Just as she was about to say something, a boring ringtone played; it was his mobile phone’s ringtone. It was the default ringtone that came with the phone. He did not even download any of his own. The 27-year-old man was like an old uncle. That was right, uncle.
Michael took out his mobile phone. Elena’s eyes subconsciously dipped down to look at it. Her mood immediately sank when she saw the name displayed on the screen of his mobile phone. Ava. That woman was really unyielding! She seemed discontented to stay at the WongRiver Pavilion and see him daily. Was there a need for her to keep track of him and check what time he would be home like the Deadly Thirteen Sword tactic?
Who was the Eldest Young Master Williams’s fiancée anyway?
