Ava had stayed at the Williams family’s mansion for two days because of her foot injury, and she had lived with the old madam while she was there. The other female members in the family had been consumed with anger and jealousy with her stay. What had the two Garcia sisters done to deserve such care and love from the old madam? Even they had never received such treatment. They accepted the fact that the old madam favored Elena because she was Eldest Young Master Williams’s fiancée, but what about Ava? Was she favored because she was Elena’s sister? She even got to stay in the old madam’s room!
Ava could finally walk on the third day she was at the Williams’s mansion, and the old madam could finally let her leave. It was a weekend, so she was not in any rush as she did not have any classes. She had heard that Eldest Young Master Williams was home that day, so she ordered the driver to wait at the gate while she wandered in the garden.
Her efforts would have been for nothing if her driver sent her home then. She wanted a chance to run into Michael so that he would offer to send her home. That was the opportunity that she wanted. However, she did not even catch a glimpse of the eldest young master when she ventured from the garden to the main house, then from the back door to the large hall. Could he have been at the WongRiver Pavilion?
During her short stay with the old madam, Ava had managed to learn almost everything about the Williams family. Eldest Young Master Williams had an independent living space within the Williams mansion; it was on the eastern side of the main house. When she left the hall, she walked toward the WongRiver Pavilion, which was situated toward the east of the house. She did not know if he would be there, but she wanted to try her luck.
“Isn’t she the Williams family’s new favorite outsider?” a scornful voice suddenly said.
Another girl sneered, “She’s just an outsider, how would she win any favor? She’s a guest, so Grandmother was probably only entertaining her.”
“Well, unfortunately, she must have thought that Grandmother liked her, so she decided to stay. Well, Grandmother was just too kind to chase her away, wasn’t she?”
Ava looked up and smiled. She had learned everything she needed to know about the female members of the Williams family. One of the ladies who had been gossiping about her was Snowy, the sixth young miss in the Williams family. However, she did not recognize the other girl.
“Hello, Sixth Young Miss Williams.” Ava sauntered toward them.
She looked at the girl who stood next to Snowy and smiled softly. “Hello. I’m sorry, but I do not recognize you. Can you introduce yourself, please?”
The girl’s face sank. “I’m Renee Williams!”
There was still someone who did not know her? That was totally unacceptable!
“Hello, but… which family are you from? My apologies, I have not heard about you from Grandmother.”
“What are you talking about?” Renee was furious when she heard that. How dared those bloody women from the Garcia family speak so casually in front of them!
Ava blinked her eyes innocently. “What? Don’t you understand the human language?”
“You…” Renee would never think that an outsider would dare to be so arrogant in their house!
Even though she was not from the main family, her father was a son of Old Master Williams, which meant that she was also a young Miss Williams!
“Did I say something wrong?”
Snowy suddenly reached out and slapped her across the face. It was a hard and brutal slap!
“You…” Ava’s eyes widened in shock, and she almost fell onto the ground when the strength of the slap staggered her. She did not expect that someone would be so unreasonable to attack her physically.
“Who allowed you to address the old madam as Grandmother? Are you trying to pretend that you are a young Miss Williams?”
Snowy’s lips twitched as she looked at Ava coldly. “Did you think that you can enjoy the same treatment as your sister because Grandmother doted on her?”
“I’ll have you know; if you dare to continue this atrocious behavior in our family, I can have you killed at any time.”
Ava had not expected Snowy to be so brutal. Even though she knew that the young misses had terrible tempers, they would still pretend to be civil for the sake of their reputation. She never imagined that Snowy would hit her so.
“Grandmother was the one who told me to call her that!” she bellowed angrily.
Old Madam Williams doted on her, and yet there were will people in the Williams family who dared to bully her!
“I’ll tell Grandmother that you hit me. She’ll never favor you again!”
Ava had officially announced that Snowy was her enemy! The young miss Garcia thought that she would be able to ally herself with one of the Williams family members so that they could coordinate their attacks against a common enemy—Elena. However, it seemed like she had picked the wrong person for her cause! Snowy narrowed her eyes as she stared coldly at Ava’s stubborn face.
“Well, well, well, you even dared to threaten me! Renee, get her! Even if you beat her to her death, I’ll take the blame for it!”
“Of course!”
Renee had been waiting for Snowy to give that precise command. She dashed toward Ava and knocked her to the ground. Ava was utterly dumbfounded by how the situation had escalated. How could someone from such an affluent family be so uncivilized?
Her ankle had only started to heal, and she still had to take extra care while she walked. Her condition meant that she had a weak balance. She tumbled as soon as Snowy bumped into her. Just as her body hit the ground, Renee lifted her leg to aim a kick at her body.
“Stop it! Argh! You guys, stop… argh! It hurts! Stop it!”
That was the first time in her life that another woman had beaten Ava so miserably. She wanted to get up, but her opponent’s hard kicks kept her on the ground. Ava was in such excruciating pain that she rolled around pitifully on the ground. They did not give her a chance to get up.
“Stop, stop… argh, argh… you… you are crazy, argh… stop…”
It was the 21st century! How could they do that; how could they hit people as they like? Why were they so barbaric? Ava had started to regret her decision to provoke that madwoman, Snowy.
“Stop it, argh…”
“Stop it!” A figure suddenly appeared to push Renee, who was still kicking at Ava, away.
“How dare you touch me!” Renee’s eyes still blazed in anger from her attack, so she could not see the person who had pushed her. There were many bodyguards in the family, and she was afraid of none of them!
“Mind your own business!” Renee was so furious that someone had shoved her that she raised her hand in an attempt to slap them.
It was Ewan, who then clasped her wrist and gripped it firmly.
Renee immediately burst into tears and howled, “Let go of me! Pain! Pain! Let me go!”
Ewan’s face sank, and then he gave her a hard push. Renee stumbled a few steps backward before she could finally regain her balance. She looked up and noticed the familiar sight of a man. Had she seen him before? There was another man behind him, and he stood with an overbearing aura. He did not look unhappy, and the air around him was enough to send chills down her spine.
“Big Brother…”
Snowy felt her scalp go numb when she saw Ewan. That was her eldest brother’s bodyguard, Ewan! If he was there, then her eldest brother must be somewhere nearby as well. A few moments later, she realized that she had been right when Michael appeared.
“Big Brother.” Snowy, a domineering and arrogant woman, immediately turned into a docile cute sheep in the blink of an eye.
“What is this?” Michael’s indifferent eyes swept over the two girls before they landed on Ava.
Ava was still on the ground. She did not want to face Eldest Young Master Williams with such an embarrassing pose, but she could not get up.
“Eldest Young Master Williams,” Ava panted, “They hit me.”
