Chapter 120 Elena, Be Kind

Book:The Reborn Wife Published:2024-5-1

Would they break up for real after two years?
She had pretty much made up her mind, but why did she hesitate when Layla asked her about it? No, how could she hesitate? Had she not decided on that since the incident in her past life? She would have to stay away from Eldest Young Master Williams if she wanted to live a long and peaceful life! She cherished her life too much!
“Busybody.” She diverted her attention back to the visitor’s form, and when she was done, she handed it to the staff at the asylum.
Mia’s room was located at the far right end of the second floor. It was a single bedroom. They heard that she had not been assigned to her own quarters because she had just been admitted into the asylum. She might be moved to her designated place among the other patients in the next few days.
They were not sure if the Hill family had been to visit Mia since she was admitted. They found that her room was in a messy and run-down state. If her family still cared for her, they would never let her rot in such a messed up place.
When she saw Elena, Mia shrieked and went to hide at the corner of the room as if she had just had a horrible encounter with an evil spirit. “Ghost, ghost!”
Layla wanted to say something, but Elena dragged her and shoved her behind her back. Elena tilted her chin, and Layla understood what she meant. Layla shifted to the side of the door with Caleb and Luacs. Suddenly, the light was turned off.
It was day time, and the sunlight shone brightly into the room. Hence the lighting was unnecessary. However, the corner of the room was meant to store things. The corner was dark and damp, and it went dark after the light was turned off.
Mia was startled, and as she hid at the side of the bed, she shook uncontrollably. “Ghost, ghost. Argh… ghost!”
“Mia, do you still remember me?” She did not want her to scream continuously or to alert the staff, so Elena decided to fight a quick battle.
“You’re a ghost. You’re a ghost!” Mia went pale.
Her long and silky black hair was cut short by the staff for easier management. However, Mia still looked like a maniac even with the short hair because she was dirty and ugly.
Her glorious past had gone entirely. She used to be a charming young miss, but now she had totally succumbed to abjection. She had no one by her side as her friends and families had abandoned her. What a pity to have ended in such a miserable situation.
Elena did not go any closer to her; she spoke to her from a distance. “Tell me, who is your spy in the Mu family? Who told you about Henry?”
Mia tried to reduce her visibility and retreated further into the corner. “Don’t touch me. Don’t come near me. Ghost, you’re a ghost! Go away. Go!”
“I’ll go after you tell me everything.” Elena’s face sank and went closer to Mia. Fear and nausea hit Mia as she stared blankly at Elena’s terrifying face!
“If you won’t tell, then I’ll haunt you forever. I won’t let you off even if I’m dead!”
“No! No! Don’t touch me! No!”
Mia squealed and wailed as Elena got nearer to her. Layla closed the door abruptly as she feared that the staff would hear her screams. The room was actually quite remote, and even the nurses were unwilling to go by there. However, if Mia screamed continuously, the nurses might drop by. Elena did not want to drag that on any longer, so she strode forward and clasped Mia’s wrist.
“Tell me! Who from the Mu family is keeping in touch with Ava? Tell me!”
“Don’t touch me! Don’t… No…”
“I’ll hit you if you don’t tell me!”
“It’s Sarah. It’s the Eldest Madam!”
Mia was scared out of her wits. She tried to retreat further into the corner, but there was a wall on the other side of the bed, so she had nowhere to go.”
“It’s the Eldest Madam. She is evil, truly wicked… Don’t kill me, please don’t hit me. No, no!”
Sarah! How could it be Sarah?
Elena was dumbfounded. She was astonished to hear the name of the gentle Eldest Madam Mu, Sarah, from Mia. Sarah’s images flooded her mind instantly. She suffered many wrongs in the Mu family. Many of the young misses in the Williams family would bully her, and the Eldest Master had never shown her any respect. He was never stingy with his blame and criticism. She had always been someone who had resigned herself to adversity. So, how could it be her?
“No. Don’t hit me! No!”
Mia was lost in tremors. Tears welled up in her eyes, and saliva dripped down from her chin.
“Don’t hit me. Mummy, I want my mummy… Please, I want mummy…” she sobbed.
Mia suddenly launched herself onto Elena. “Mummy! Mummy, help me. Mummy…”
Elena let go of her, and Mia slid onto the ground with a loud thud.
“Mummy, mummy…” Mia pleaded as she looked earnestly at Elena. It was as if she could not comprehend why her mom had abandoned her.
Elena had mixed feelings about the situation. Even though Mia was evil, her wretched condition showed that she had received her punishment. Elena no longer wanted to see Mia, so she turned to leave. Layla, Caleb, and Luacs trailed after her as they left the room.
As the four of them left the room, the staff led a well-dressed lady toward their direction. Both Elena and Ava were surprised to see each other. Elena noticed the fruit hamper in Ava’s hand. She did not expect such a wicked person would visit a cousin who was no longer useful to her. She thought more about it, and then she understood her intention.
“Are you here to check if she has really gone crazy?” she jeered.
Ava wore a soft smile on her face. “Elena, you look well. I heard that you are back at Eldest Young Master Williams’s mansion this morning. I found it hard to believe, at first.”
Ava kept her gentle smile. Whoever saw her smile would believe that she was a kind and elegant woman.
“I wanted to visit you, but I thought you might need the rest since you’ve only gotten back this morning. I shall visit you tomorrow then.”
Ava sized Elena up, and it seemed like she felt reassured after she saw that Elena was well.
“Now that I know you are okay, I don’t have to be worried anymore.”
Her hypocrisy almost made Layla throw up in disgust, but she completely bewitched the male employee by her side. The legendary Number One Enchantress in Bentson was a kind and lovely girl. Even though Elena was rude toward her, she remained gentle and welcoming to her sister. Therefore, the male employee was hostile toward Elena.
“Visiting time is over. Please leave now.”
A younger sister who was disrespectful to her older sister was not worth a polite treatment.
Layla was angered by how the employee spoke to them, and she wanted to say something about that. However, Elena had managed to pull her back.
Elena looked at Ava and said with a smile, “Has she really gone crazy? I can’t be sure, but her mouth is rather useful sometimes.”
Ava’s expression changed somewhat, but she quickly adjusted her emotions and sighed.
“No matter what, she is my younger cousin sister and your older cousin sister. Now that the Hill family no longer wants anything to do with her, you should visit her more often so that she won’t get lonely here.”
When Ava walked past Elena, she suddenly leaned in, and whispered at a volume that only the two of them could hear, “I would advise you to be kind. Don’t be such an arrogant b*tch. Watch out; you would fall soon enough.”
