One serving of the Golden Escargot would cost almost as much as a company’s sales revenue for a day. It might sound a little unusual, but those were rare deep-sea escargots.
Furthermore, it required a unique and tedious process to prepare it. First, one would need to dig the flesh out completely. Any bruised parts were then removed before they would add the caviar. Then they would chill the mixture. At the same time, the shells of the Golden Escargots were cleaned with a custom-made spoon. Next, one would carefully line a layer of creamy opulent sea urchin in the shell.
Then, one would use a fine tweezer to place the chilled mixture of the escargot and caviar to scoop it back into the shell. The escargots would then be baked in the oven for precisely ten seconds. Finally, the Golden Escargots were ready to be served.
For such an exquisite dish, the cost of the ingredients was only secondary. The ingredients would only cost a maximum of tens of thousands of dollars. However, the cost of labor was appalling! To ensure freshness and smooth texture, it needed a strict and controlled preparation time. It would also require at least a dozen servants to prepare it.
How could an ordinary family afford so many maids? Perhaps only those wealthy families like the Mu family could do that.
As for the Garcia family? They should not even think about it!
So one could conclude that a Garcia might not have eaten that particular dish in her life.
The maid served the Golden Escargot onto Elena’s plate. The people around them stopped and scrutinized Elena as if they were ready for a show.
The Garcia family was not prominent in Bentson. Hence, Elena was not considered the daughter of a wealthy family. Did she even know how to eat Golden Escargot? Even those in the Williams family could only enjoy that dish during the family feast. They would not have had a chance to do that on a typical day.
Alas, Elena might make a fool of herself.
Elena’s face remained expressionless as she looked at the Golden Escargot that the maid served her. She turned around and took the pair of gloves from the maid who stood behind her. Then she put on the gloves and picked up a custom-made thin fork, which she used to insert into the opening of the escargot.
After that, she picked up a small hammer and tapped it lightly on the shell. The shell parted into halves easily and dropped onto the plate. Everyone could see how the lightly roasted escargot, along with the caviar and golden sea urchin, slid out from the shell and landed on the plate.
The show was not over yet.
Elena picked up the escargot flesh with the fork and dipped it in the caviar on the side of the plate before she put it into her mouth. She chewed it slowly to enjoy every bite of it! It was delicious!
She knew how to eat it! She actually knew how to eat the Golden Escargot!
How on earth would a poor and pedantic person know how to eat a Golden Escargot?
Snowy stared at Elena in disbelief. It was not easy to enjoy that delicacy at any restaurant. Even if the restaurants could serve it, they would require advance booking. After all, the preparation process was too complicated!
How could she possibly know how to eat it? She definitely could not afford it! Big Brother was not very particular in his eating habits either. He would not have ordered such a complicated dish when he dined out, and he would not have brought Elena to eat it either.
How did she learn the proper way to enjoy the Golden Escargot? For a moment, everyone was shocked, and no one knew how to respond to that.
“What’s wrong? Any problem?” Elena blinked innocently.
She thought for a while, and suddenly, an idea came to her. Then she laughed and said, “Is it because I didn’t use the wasabi? Wasabi doesn’t go with the Golden Escargot. It will ruin its original sweet taste.”
She took off her gloves, and the maid immediately took them from her. Since no one said anything, Elena behaved as if nothing had happened. She raised her glass and looked at Sarah.
“Eldest Madam, since you are an elder, please let me toast you first.”
Sarah got her senses back. She immediately took her glass and bumped it lightly against Elena’s. The others also reverted their sight and focused their attention back to their own plate.
If she had no problem with the Golden Escargot, it would be rather challenging to see the future Young Madam Williams embarrass herself in the future.
Elena held the glass and took a small sip. She looked at the other dishes on the table, and the smile on her lips gradually deepened. No one knew that she had lived with the Williams family for several years in her previous life.
What had she not tried and seen back then?
Snowy was a year older than Elena, but she still behaved like a kid.
“I heard that the Garcia Group has not been doing well lately. Apparently, there are some issues with their cash flow. They had to sell their daughter to keep the company running.”
Snowy also held up her wine glass. However, instead of taking a sip, her disdainful eyes drifted onto Elena’s ugly face. Only a young miss from the Mu family could say such a derisive remark.
Most people would never say something like that. After all, it was really rude.
However, that particular Young Miss Williams had always been lofty. So what if she was rude? No one would criticize her behavior.
Even the eldest madam, Sarah, could not handle them, let alone other people. They could only look on as spectators.
Elena looked at Snowy. The provocative words did not anger her, and she even smiled at it.
“Sixth Young Miss seemed to like listening to gossip. Don’t you know that gossip is only a rumor? No wonder you got tricked by someone with ulterior motives.”
Did Rosy not say all those things with an ulterior motive just then?
“You…” Snowy wanted to scream at her.
Elena smiled, and said plainly, “It’s better to wait for the Garcia Group to be in real trouble before we bother Sixth Young Miss about it.”
“It is also wise for Sixth Young Miss not to believe rumors easily. Otherwise, people might think that Sixth Young Miss Williams doesn’t have a brain to practice discernment in hearsays.”
“Elena, are you trying to look for death?” Snowy stood up again with the wine glass in her hand.
“I’m going over there to toast Grandmother. Sixth Young Miss, would you like to join me?” At that point, Elena stood up as well. She studied Snowy’s face. “If you splash the wine on me, I will not duck. And I will still toast to Grandmother.”
“You…” Snowy was so angry that her hand was clenched tight around the wine glass. Her fingertips even shook.
How could Elena dare to threaten her? How could she?
Snowy had wanted to splash her with the wine multiple times, but she managed to suppress her emotions.
She had heard that her grandmother liked that girl very much, but she did not know if that was true. It would not be a pretty sight if she spilled the wine on her, and Elena complained to her grandmother.
Elena was not afraid of Snowy. Snowy only dared to bully their weak female relatives. She had no courage to go to the men’s tables.
“Sixth Young Miss, are you sure you are not going to throw that wine on me? If you are sure, then I’ll go to Grandmother now.”
She had not wanted to be that high-profile, but she would never have the chance to be a low-key person if she were to survive in that family. Her encounter with Sarah made her realize that blind concessions would bring no mercy. It would allow her opponents to advance instead.
Even the dignified Eldest Madam was no match to those two juniors, let alone herself?
If she had a softer temperament, she would definitely end up worse than Sarah.
Since she could not escape trouble if she were soft, then why would she worry about problems? She would not be the first to attack unless she was provoked. She had lived and died once before. What could still scare her?
She held her drink and was about to leave the seat. Suddenly, the old butler appeared with a smile and said, “Young Madam, Old Madam Williams would like you to go and have dinner with her.”
