CHAPTER 44
As the jet landed on the tarmac in Rome, Rachel was filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation.
She knew that this was the beginning of her new life with Leo, and she was ready to start exploring and making memories.
As they landed in Rome, Rachel couldn’t help but take in the stunning Italian scenery.
The sun was shining bright, and the sky was a deep shade of blue. She could see the rolling hills covered in lush greenery, and the ancient architecture of the city in the distance.
She was struck by the beauty and history of the place, and she couldn’t wait to explore it.
As they made their way out of the jet, Rachel noticed several burly men standing at the side of the runway. She realized that they were bodyguards, and she couldn’t help but feel a sense of safety and security with them around.
The bodyguards were dressed in dark suits, and their expressions were serious and focused. They scanned the area, making sure that the couple was protected at all times.
As they made their way to the private chateau, Rachel felt the luxury and opulence. The car was driven by a personal driver, and the bodyguards followed close behind.
She couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement as she took in the sights and sounds of the beautiful Italian countryside.
The chateau was located in a secluded area, surrounded by beautiful gardens and lush greenery.
Leo led her to the luxurious chateau, where they would be spending the first days of their marriage. As they walked through the grand entrance, Rachel found her jaw dropping at many instances.
The chateau was breathtakingly beautiful, with high ceilings, ornate chandeliers, and beautiful works of art adorning the walls.
Leo showed her to the master bedroom, where she would be staying. She walked into the room and was greeted with a stunning view of the Italian countryside.
The room was large and spacious, with a four-poster bed, a fireplace, and a balcony that overlooked the garden.
She noticed that Leo didn’t carry any of his belongings into her room and instead he went to the room next to hers. She could hear the sound of a shower running, and she knew that he was still in.
She sighed defeatedly, shaking her head in disappointment, as she had hoped to spend the first night of their honeymoon together. Feeling a little bit confused, Rachel decided to unpack her things and freshen up before dinner.
She changed into a comfortable dress and made her way to the living room, where she found Leo waiting for her. He was dressed in a suit and tie, and she couldn’t help but notice how handsome he looked.
“Welcome to our home for the next few days,” he said, chewing on a snicker bar, his voice completely emotionless.
Rachel smiled back, trying to shake off the feeling of disappointment, “Thank you, Leo. It’s beautiful here,” she said, looking around the room.
As Rachel sat at the kitchen island, she felt uneasy. She was scrolling through her social media, trying to take her mind off the strange behavior of her husband.
Leo had been distant and cold towards her since they landed in Rome, and she couldn’t help but feel a sense of confusion and hurt.
She watched as he walked into the kitchen, not even acknowledging her presence as he made his way to the refrigerator.
He pulled out some leftovers and put them in the microwave, still not acknowledging her. Rachel felt a sense of anger and frustration, she couldn’t understand why he was acting this way.
As she sat there, trying to make sense of his behavior, she heard Leo’s phone ring. He quickly answered the call and walked out of the room, leaving her alone in the kitchen.
Rachel couldn’t take it anymore, she decided to confront him and find out what was going on.
She got up from her seat and made her way to the living room, where she found Leo pacing back and forth as he spoke on the phone.
She could tell from the tone of his voice that he was angry and frustrated. She waited for him to finish the call before approaching him.
“Leo, what’s going on? Why are you acting like I’m not even here? Why are you so distant and cold towards me?” she asked, her voice filled with hurt and confusion.
Rachel felt a wave of disappointment wash over her as she realized that her husband had no intention of making an effort to connect with her or make their honeymoon special.
She couldn’t understand why he was so distant and cold towards her, and it was beginning to take a toll on her emotional well-being.
Feeling hurt and frustrated, Rachel decided to retreat to her room and watch a movie. She knew that she needed some time alone to process her feelings and try to make sense of what was going on.
As Rachel lay in bed, she could hear the sound of Leo’s voice getting louder and more agitated.
She could tell that he was shouting on the phone, and his tone was filled with anger and frustration. He was pacing back and forth in the living room, his voice growing louder with each passing moment.
He was speaking in rapid Italian, but Rachel could make out the occasional English word, and she could tell that he was having a heated conversation.
She could hear the sound of his voice rising and falling, as he made his point with passion and intensity.
It was clear that he was arguing with someone, and he seemed to be getting angrier by the second.
Rachel could hear the sound of his footsteps getting louder as he paced back and forth, his voice growing more and more heated.
She couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease as she listened to him shout on the phone. It was clear that something was troubling him, and she couldn’t shake off the feeling that it had something to do with their marriage.
Tears started streaming down her face as she realized that her fairytale wedding and honeymoon were nothing more than a disappointment. She cried herself to sleep, feeling alone and confused about her new marriage.
