CHAPTER 40
The reception hall was beautifully decorated, with a romantic and elegant theme. The room was filled with warm candlelight and sparkling chandeliers, creating a magical atmosphere. The walls were adorned with lush floral arrangements, featuring white roses, lilies, and peonies.
The tables were dressed in crisp white linens and adorned with beautiful centerpieces of flowers and candles. The guests were seated at round tables, with comfortable chairs draped in delicate lace covers. The silverware and crystal glasses glistened in the soft light, adding to the overall ambiance of the room.
The dance floor was in the center of the room, surrounded by a stage where the band was playing romantic melodies and lively songs. The guests were dancing, laughing and having a great time. The bar was fully stocked and the waiters were serving drinks and delicious appetizers.
A large three-tiered wedding cake stood on a table nearby, decorated with delicate flowers and frosting. The cake was ready to be cut, and the couple was looking forward to feeding each other a piece.
The wedding reception was in full swing, and the guests were having a great time. Rachel, the bride, had been feeling a bit bored and restless. She had been sitting at the table, watching the guests and trying to make conversation with her new husband, Leo.
As she looked around the room, her eyes fell on her childhood friend, Celine. Celine seemed to be looking sad, and Rachel followed her line of sight to see William, Celine’s ex-boyfriend, in conversation with another woman.
The woman was laughing and flirting with William, and Celine looked like she was on the verge of tears.
Rachel was annoyed and frustrated. She had always had a bit of a soft spot for Celine, and she couldn’t stand to see her friend so upset. She got up from her seat, determined to give William a piece of her mind.
She had always thought that he was a bit of a jerk and she was not going to stand idly by while he hurt Celine again.
The woman that William was talking to was a petite brunette, with long, straight hair that flowed down her back. She was dressed in a tight-fitting red dress that accentuated her curves. She had a bright smile on her face and her eyes were sparkling with amusement.
She had a confident and outgoing personality, and she was laughing and flirting with William as they talked. She seemed to be enjoying his company, and she was hanging onto his every word. Her body language was open and relaxed, and she seemed to be completely at ease in his presence.
She was a striking contrast to Celine, who looked sad and uncomfortable. The woman seemed to be the life of the party and was making William forget his troubles.
Without warning, Rachel pulled away from Leo’s grip and walked up to William with determination in her step. She was not going to let him ruin her night or Celine’s.
“Excuse me,” Rachel said, interrupting William’s conversation. Her voice was calm but firm.
William looked at her with a surprised expression, “Oh, Rachel, I didn’t expect to see you here.”
“That’s because you were too busy flirting with another woman and ignoring your ex-girlfriend,” Rachel said, her voice getting louder.
“I-I-I don’t know what you’re talking about,” William stammered, looking uncomfortable.
“I saw the way you were talking to that woman, and the way you’re ignoring Celine.
You’re hurting her, and I won’t stand for it,” Rachel said, her voice filled with anger.
William looked at Rachel, then at Celine, and then back at Rachel
But before she could take a step, Leo, her husband, stopped her. He took her hand and led her to the dance floor for their first dance as a married couple.
“What are you doing?” Rachel asked, a bit confused.
As Rachel finished speaking to William, Leo walked up to her and gently took her hand, leading her away from the confrontation. He could feel her tension and anger, but he tried to ignore it and focus on the present moment.
Rachel reluctantly followed Leo to the dance floor, pretending to be happy and carefree. But as they walked away, she couldn’t help but scowl at William one last time before leaving.
As they reached the dance floor, the band started playing a slow and romantic melody. Leo took Rachel in his arms, and they started dancing together. Rachel tried to focus on the music and the feeling of being in Leo’s arms, but she couldn’t shake off the bad feelings inside her.
As they danced, Leo could see that Rachel was still upset and he knew he needed to lighten the mood. He leaned in and whispered in her ear,
“I’ve never seen you charge at someone like a bull before, it was quite impressive.” He grinned and wiggled his eyebrows playfully.
Rachel couldn’t help but laugh, despite her bad mood. “I guess I was just trying to protect my friend,” she replied, smiling.
Leo chuckled and pulled her in closer, “I know, and I admire that about you. But next time, let me handle the bull charging, okay?” He said playfully.
Rachel rolled her eyes, but she was still smiling. “Yeah, yeah, I’ll leave the bull charging to you, Mr. Brave,” she said, laughing.
They continued to dance, and as they looked into each other’s eyes, the intensity of their gaze increased.
As Leo and Rachel danced, the guests watched them admiringly. They were mesmerized by the love and connection between the newlyweds. They could see the love and adoration in their eyes and how they were lost in each other.
The media was also capturing the moment, the camera shutter clicking incessantly as they took pictures of the happy couple. The photographers were capturing the love and intimacy between Leo and Rachel, the way they looked at each other and the way they laughed and smiled.
The guests were also taking pictures with their phones, capturing the memories of the special night. The room was filled with the sound of camera shutters and the chatter of the guests.
