Chapter 12
Rachel walked to the door and flung it open for whoever that is by the door to walk in. She was stunned to see her friend, Celine, by the door.
“Hey, girlie!” Rachel smiled, pulled Celine inside the house and closed the door after the stressed-out lady was already inside.
Rachel pulled Celine for a hug, she hugged her tightly to her body.
“What’s up, you didn’t tell me that you would be visiting me,” Rachael said amidst the hug.
“Oh! If you don’t release me in this instance you’ll squeeze the life out of me.” Celine jokes, and she felt Rachel release her from the hug.
“Much better.” She laughed, moving her palm to her chest to support her chest from falling out, due to the rapidly rising and falling of her heartbeat.
“Since well did it become a sin if you visited your friend without prior notice?” Celine rolled her eyes and stretched her palms forward.
“Woah! Box of chocolate! Oh my God! You still remember my love for this baby!” Rachael gushed, lovingly grabbing the box of chocolates with wide eyes.
“Oh! Baby!” she smiled, pulling Celine in another hug, but this time it was brief and sweet.
“Where’s mum?” Celine asked, peeking at the living room from the door and her eyes caught up with the beautiful woman, sitting in her goodness on the couch.
“Good afternoon mummy.” Celine greeted her with a slight bow and Madeline smiled warmly at her.
One thing about their friendship, they referred to their friend’s parents as mum and dad. You wouldn’t even know that they’re not referring to their parents.
“Quit an ageing baby. How have you been?” Madeline asked, smiling at the beautiful lady in front of her.
“I’ve been well as usual, I hope you’ve been well also,” Celine said, clutching tight at Rachel’s sleeve as she exchanged greetings with Madeline.
“Alright, mom, we’ll continue our discussion later.” Rachel pecked her mother on her cheeks before dragging Celine to her room.
She was grinning from ear to ear as they made their way into her familiar room of hers. She was so happy to have her friend back in her room yet again, and she couldn’t hide her happiness.
Celine is a friend that she can’t get tired of having around her.
“So about your work?” Celine couldn’t stop herself from asking the first question out of the numerous questions she has been piling up to ask her friend.
Rachael got an orange juice and filled it into two glass cups, she walked back to her friend that’s now sitting on her bed and handed over a glass to her.
“Thank you!” Celine mouthed and gulped half of the content down her throat before dropping it beside her on the bed. It’s as if Rachel knew how thirsty she was.
“Well, work has been pretty tough with my dickhead boss deteriorating my mental health.” Rachel groaned, sitting on the bed beside her friend.
“Sorry, hun,” Celine said sadly and Rachel nudged her that it was fine.
“You know I’m a strong girl. I’ve got to get this and I’ll do it.” Rachael beamed, showing off her imaginary muscle which made Celine slap her hand off.
“I’m glad you’re fighting your way. Show that arrogant boss of yours that you’re capable of anything.” Celine said, her positive spirit lighting the gloomy face of Rachel, as she chuckled happily at her friend.
“Yeah, right. I can do anything as long as I set my mind to it, I’m a fighter and I’ll never give up.” She released a heavy sigh and watched as her heart became lighter than before.
“Any information about your betrothed? Did you hear from him, or has he made any moves?” Celine asked, taking a light sip from her orange juice.
Rachel shook her head slightly.
“I never heard from him and he hasn’t made any moves yet,” she announced and Celine nodded in total understanding.
“Maybe he’s just hearing about the betrothed stuff also that he’s still finding it difficult to handle.” Celine blurted house and Rachel twisted her face to one side thinking of the possibility of what her friend just said.
“I don’t think that’s the case.” she shook her head in disagreement.
“He’s the guy here and he must have heard of it from a long time ago but decided to keep hushed.” Rachel groaned at the thought of her betrothed being an arrogant jerk.
“Did you know anything about him?” Celine asked and Rachel nodded in affirmation.
“My mom showed me a picture of him a while ago, and believe me babe the dude looks fucking handsome.” Rachel grinned, recalling his baby blue eyes that flicker through the picture.
“Guess someone is in love?” Celine joked and Rachel hit her lightly on the arm.
“Don’t be ridiculous, I’m merely complimenting his look. And besides, it’s my father’s last wish so I had to accomplish it.” She laughed and suddenly stopped laughing when she suddenly remembered something.
Her face hardened at the thought.
“Come to think of it, the dude ridiculously looked familiar but I can’t remember where.” Rachel mouthed and Celine tightened her jaw in thought.
“Are you sure he’s not one of our ex-schoolmates?” Celine suggested and Rachel shook her head.
“I don’t think so.” She mumbled, moving her hand to her head, tapping her head to see if she could remember but it was fruitless.
“C’mon I don’t think he’s someone you know. You’re stressed from office work coupled with your boss being troubled. If you relax your brain and not force things, I know you’ll surely find an answer to the puzzle.” Celine advised and Rachel shrugged her shoulders in surrender.
“Oops, what did I forget to tell you.” Celine scoffed, recalling the incident that occurred on her way to Rachel’s house.
She narrated her encounter with the hooligans, to how Williams had helped her out.
“Oh my goodness, you need to see how charming this guy is.” She said dribbling saliva as she recalled how gorgeous the guy looks.
“Are you sure there’s nothing more to this?” Rachel said with a knowing smirk on her face.
“I think I’m in love with him.” Celine grinned, covering her face as she let out what she has been feeling for the guy she met hours ago.
“Holy fuck!” Rachel exclaimed in shock. Not believing her ears.
